My cat Winston is an excellent judge of character. One of my father-in-law's wife's friends is a very, shall I say grouchy lady and has had pets, dogs put down for the smallest of reason. For some reason they all came by one day and Winston, who's very friendly with everyone, walked right up to her and hissed at her.

My girl kitty INSISTS on belly petting. She likes to pretend that I'm chasing her by running ahead on the path I'm walking, then throwing herself down in my path and meowing at me demandingly with her belly exposed. She'll even be MORE obvious by rolling a bit further onto her back, further displaying more of her snowy white belly fur. Petting it doesn't stop her chattering, but does turn it from demanding to a criticism of your technique.

The Scottish Fold carries a gene that make them develop a painful degenerative bone disease early in life - they should be fazed out as a breed as they inevitably suffer pain. It’s incredibly irresponsible and cruel to recommend them as a pet. Also, Bengals and Abyssinians are not suitable as indoor cats!! - do you do any research or do you just make up facts for something to say?

Okay, I would consider myself as a cat person. My first pet was a collie, whom I loved, but we also had cats on our farm later on. It seems to me that, when they're awake anyway, and not just lazing around, dogs want to play, and sometimes I don't want that. Also, a cat will be content to cuddle with you, whereas a dog will lick your face to show affection *for minutes on end.* A cat doesn't need to do that (well, only a little, when they do.) And finally, cats will clean up after themselves in the litter box, whereas you have to take a dog outside to do its business, and in bad weather that's no fun for you *or* the dog. Dogs are high maintenance, dependent on you for care, training, and housing. That's why I'm a cat person!

Cats aren’t humans. You need to meet a cat where it is. My cat wasn’t a cuddler but was so affectionate in lots of other ways, head butting, love bites, nibbling and rubbing. They are all wonderfully different.

What about the view that cats should eat as often as in wildlife? I let my cat eat on demand as I've noticed she demands small portions but often. She isn't overweight. Is it okay?

Wet food is best as primary diet, with dry food as a possible addition. Total dry food (processed) can be detrimental to cat health, resulting in diabetes, cancer, etc.

Neutering spaying seems cruel to me. Just my opinion.

Never put claw caps on your cats paws. They are very painful for the cat. Imagine walking on really long toenails and unable to do anything about them: A cats claws are like the end part of our fingers and toes.

Don't know if someone has mentioned this, but some cats are very sensitive to smell. I have a cuddly cat but if I put on a certain face cream in the evening, she doesn't want to come close to me. So if cat stops to cuddle, perhaps it doesn't like your perfume.

Here it is: Cats neither have nor acknowledge owners. Cats have STAFF who exercise their professional, quasi parental responsibilities as caregivers on cats' behalf. Of course cats recognize these minions. If a cat does not like or appreciate the services provided, they leave the minion bereft of their companionship.

My cat chose me one ye.ar ago today; she was about three weeks old and she and her five littermates had been abandoned in a neighbor's yard. She didn't seem to want to be cuddled much so I didn't force the issue. She does like chin/jaw/shoulder scritches and will close her eyes and leans her head down for head strokes and sometimes rub against my legs. She does have plenty of comfy places to sit and has a couple of favorite chairs :). She's also started sitting where I sit on the couch. Her name is Muggsi Blanche McGraw but I also call her "Sweet" or "Sweet girl." She does like treats but plays with them at first. And she's got toys to play with.

The most likely scenario is that Maine Coons came into being via interbreeding of some species of US wildcat and a domesticated cat.

My big boy was not a snuggler at first. Now he’s a marshmallow and loves it. I just kept loving on him until he saw that it was a good experience. He snuggles all the time now.

not just personality we didnt know but our cat had breast cancer ... a sign of this is extensive licking near "underarm" be sure to have your cat examined for such at checkups - early diagnosis is essential!!
