I took Mitch Mitchell's drum track, available here on YT, and recorded bass, vocals and guitar over it. I think I could play this a little better, but, well, why record 300 takes, when you can record just a shitty one, right? Here I'm using my trusty Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster, which I've grown to like quite a lot.

A little tune I made. I'd like to call this something like "walking towards a thousand Suns of eternal light", but it's too long. Then I thought just "Eternal Light". Anyway, it's a sort of marching thing. Not in the military sense.. It's a sort of happy march. ATTENTION PLEASE! There was a little problem with the rhythm guitar in this video! It's slightly sharp. Is that a japanese fender from the 80’s? As the logo on the heel of the neck makes me think about it. Vintage tuners and all. Sweet guitar. Definitely good choice to wire the tone knob for the bridge pickup. Although you might want replace the saddles with something that is not that aggressive on the strings. Still keeping that vintage look. Good instrument for a great player ❤
@@artist91fb thanks so much! It’s a Japanese fender from 2002, ST62 model, which has been refinished with nitrocellulose lacquer. The saddles have a little corrosion on some spots but this adds to the “vintage” vibe I guess, and so far I haven’t had problems, I rarely break a string on this guitar. Oh yes, the tone knob thing should be mandatory for strats.
Hey everyone, in case you're interested, here is part 2 of this video, where I talk about the specs and setup of this guitar: th-cam.com/video/v9N-s71jX20/w-d-xo.html Don't forget to check it out :)
nice guitar bro
@@mightychad3796 thanks so much bro 🙏🏻
In 1984 my dad took me to the local town centre to buy the Fender Telecaster I had been saving up for since I was 8 years old, however, when we got there my dad checked out the three guitars they had and before even playing one he convinced me not to buy one, they were terrible, massive neck pocket gaps, string spacing out of whack chips in the paint under the clear coat and many more issues. We were just about to leave when the salesman brought out a Squier Telecaster, neither me or my dad had ever heard of Squier, the salesman said that's what they were called in Japan, it had the Fender name on the headstock as well as Squier and so we believed him, the guitar was perfect and sounded just like my dads bassists one did, I bought it, at first I thought they had made a mistake with the price, I couldn't get my head around the fact that it was so much cheaper than the US Fender model and was so much better quality, my dad said they were selling seconds, years later while gigging around I found that many were badly built. In 1986 I bought a Fender model, it took me nearly six months to find a decent one. My band mates were always confused as I played the Squier in gigs and had the Fender as my backup, I still have the Squier to this day, I could never sell it, its like a body part. Once the internet came about I found ou the truth about the Fender US models in the '80s and how the Japanese guitars overshadowed them, there is something really special about a Japanese made Fender and Squier guitar, they really take pride in their manufacturing.
@@AndrewAHayes that’s an awesome story! Really enjoyed it, thanks so much for sharing. Yes, the Japanese are very meticulous and take a lot of pride in what they do, they don’t allow themselves to do something badly. That’s why I always trust a Japanese fender or squier, or anything Japanese really, like boss pedals, before anything else. These Japanese fenders and squiers must have really confused a lot of people when they came out because they’re really so great it’s unbelievable.
This is a treat for every guitarist, i have a paisley pink strat from 1969! I never sell it! 💀
@@tymanngruter1808 yes, having a guitar that makes you wanna play is the best thing in the world; right? Paisley strats are so cool! Especially a vintage one from 1969.

At one time, one of the Best Guitars I had ever owned was a E Series MIJ Strat in Lake Placid Blue with Kahler Trem, and maple neck/fretboard. For the money always one of the better finds in Vintage Fender Guitars that are still affordable for most
@@homegrownson thats the great thing with fender japan. No matter the year or model it always delivers great quality. I have yet do find a bad fender japan guitar, unless it’s been butchered by previous owners.
Fack. That's easily one of the best sounding Strats I've ever heard, and I've owned a few... Even MIJ models!

I have two 1989 ST-62's and a 87-88 ST-62. The necks on all of them are fantastic. They really are custom shop level. As I own a 2020 Fender Custom shop 1964 journeyman relic also.
@@jaydogdogbite8081 hey thanks for chiming in. Nice to know this. I had a 1989 ST-57. It was a great guitar of course, although I don’t think that this 2002 one is any worse. Yes the necks on them are so great. This one in the video has rolled edges, no sharp transitions at all, just the smoothest neck I have ever played.

That SD-1 is epic in every way mate!
@@CC-fi3pp thank you, it is enjoying a quiet life in retirement now, don’t want to risk. But yes it’s unlike any other SD-1 I’ve heard, it’s darker and warmer.
@rafaelzengo5534 Can you solder? If you can, then you can grab a through hole non smt SD-1 for $50, get some 1s2473 diodes, yours probably has blue bands from your description but check, then use a multimeter to match the exact value of your diodes as they'll differ with parts tolerance, write down the exact order of the slightlt different values too, then match them with the bunch you have brought that'll all differ slightly, then swop the signal caps to probably film ones, but check, and match parts tolerance again and you'll have a clone of your original for probably under 70 bucks.
Where did you get this from how do I get one?

@@inherbeli yes, I changed the black plastics for cream ones.
@@rafaelzengo5534 are the spacing 55mm? i also want to change mine thx

Did you have to route bigger cavity for humbucker?
@@sadowskihomestudio no, fortunately. Most squiers come with the bigger rout. It was a drop in replacement, I just bought this (very ugly) HSS pickguard. A friend gave me the humbucker, all the other parts I had. It wasn’t easy to make all the soldering work at first but it eventually did.

Thanks my friend! I guess at least I can say "honest take", like if somebody saw me playing live, it would be something like this, lots of mistakes and brain farts.
HSS is the way to go for a Strat. Sounded great Rafael. I hope things clear up for you!
@@han36solo hi Han! Yes, I think I’ve finally accepted this truth. I like the bridge single coil but it’s not very useful outside of a blues or light rock context. If you want to be really versatile you need an HSS strat. Thanks so much my friend ❤️
worth it!
@@user-bn4nc9fc8r thanks 🙏🏻
@@rafaelzengo5534 you are welcome may i ask what pedals in this vid?
@@user-bn4nc9fc8r Sure, no problem my friend. It's a BOSS OD-3 for the first half with less gain, then I kick in a BOSS DS-1 on top of that for the higher gain.
