The Photo Table : A Conversation with Hope Heals
Hello! I'm Bryan Johnson - a photographer in Birmingham Alabama who's been telling stories and capturing life with my camera for the past 22 years.
The Photo Table Series aims to give viewers the story behind the images I've taken and discuss their impact.
This convo was with Alex Wolf - the creative director of the Hope Heals organization. We discuss a range of projects I've captured for them over the past 5 years. Check out their work : @hopeheals

Matthew Perryman Jones & Peter Bradley Adams @ the A Bryan Photo studio on June 13th 2008. We asked them to play a song together and they arranged this in a couple minutes. I think they pulled it off well!

I am hoping to come work at camp next year from the uk
Thank you for sharing this. I loved hearing about the photos and the creative process from you and Alex for this beautiful organization. Praise to the Lord for the work you are both doing to bring beauty and dignity to people.
Already my favorite TH-camr of 2024. I see who Willem Verbeeck gets his inspiration from!
😂
Lol
had the pleasure to see this amazing singer/songwriter here in va. ...great great !
Good for him!
@davidabr1964 three film bodies.....two canon mark II's and 3 lenses yeahhh thats fine. and if hes going to Africa maybe he doesn't want a whole lot of lenses and stuff so if anything gets stolen he wont be out tooo much money
Film cameras (two or three of them) and three lenses and the biggest one is only 100 mm, and you are going to Africa? What a waist!.
Wow, that's a lot of film. I usually don't bring more than 10-15, maybe 20 rolls of 120 film with me on a trip. Not 50!
you kinda remind me of the kid on 13 going on 30 -not the girl lol but the boy grown up
hi, nice equipment! Where can i find some of your afrika fotos of you?
Nice! What kind of camera bag is that?
i looooooooooooovvvvveeeeeee zac!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now they have to raise money for Skateboards, next year, instead of the walk, we will do 'the skate', yeeaaa!
Heart melting!
Yeah I own a D40 (an entry level DSLR)and really in most situations the image quality is nearly the same as pro DSLRs. The main thing that improves when you buy a pro DSLR is the amount of features on the camera.
I agree, lenses are probably the most important part of a camera.
ya, wat's a camera without some decent lenses
I saw one maybe 2 lenses lol.
That is too cute! =)
I do believe you are mispronouncing Rollei. It's Roll-eye, not Roll-ee.
You have some nice stuff (and I too am a fixed lens fan), but jeez, could you take more shit on a trip?? Do you need like 5 camera bodies??? Going on a trip doesn't mean bring an entire camera store worth of equipment.....
you mean hanson? well, it costs thousands of dollars for them to just get to africa. and they donated 100% of the money from their itunes release of their song "great divide" to a hospital in south africa. plus, their walks are not actually raising money for their tours and albums - it's raising money for TOMS shoes (which they sell on the walks) and encouraging ppl to take action. in a way, the walks are PROMOTING their tour and album 'the walk', but not they arent directly funding them.
Is this song called "Los Angeles" from Leavetaking CD by Peter Bradley Adams (August 5, 2008) that I found on Amazon? Just GREAT. * * * * * *
Very nice... hope to hear more. Where is the "Bryan Photo Studio?"
What beautiful music! Want to hear MORE... gorgeous piano * * * * *
How did it work out? Do you wish you didn't bring something/ did bring somethign?
think whatever you want... and u call urself a fan? (n)
If there's a top 5 list of words a guy shouldn't use - 'cute' has to rank high on that list. It ranks one notch below 'fabulous'.
are you a professional photographer
its an awesome site to see!
So cute... :) * Admired... *
rather you than me climing in and out of building lol
ha ur great
omg tay is sooo cuteeee!i love hanson!
Man this is just another reason that I love Hanson. They are wonderful role models. They give everything for the cause and the kids in africa and that is truly amazing
Thats so awesome that Hanson is helping those people.
It's amazing what we can do when we all work together! Those kids are going to be so happy! I hope we get updates on the school and how the kids are doing after they get all the new stuff. It's amazing that those kids were learning in those conditions and yet all seemed so happy to be there, though. The first thing that you hear many Canadian and American kids say about school is how much it sucks and that they don't want to be there. Our kids are so ungrateful!
education is a good thing and anyone who gives a person that are nobel people
Amen. The little boy at the end made me get all choked up & teary eyed. Hanson & Tom's shoes (and others involved with this) you are all amazing and wonderful people. The world needs more people out there like you! Keep it up. Every little bit helps. Xoxo, Rhiannon
awesome job guys.
Hey awesome video. I like the picture idea but the price is astronomical.
those kids are so cute. I can see how much they appreciate all the help.
