    I really like your videos, but in my area, there's like 10 other people posting trailer ramps on Facebook marketplace. Seems like market is saturated because the product is too easy to make. It seems you have to make a complex product that other people will be unwilling to reproduce, otherwise there's just too much competition which drives the prices down. One guy on marketplace here is selling those same ramps for $100. Not worth the time.

    • @tinmanmetalworks
      @tinmanmetalworks 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Maybe you can try posting your ad in a different way... Try adding things they cant do like a name tag on them. Maybe they are making theirs out if 1/8th inch? I use 3/16. Maybe make a post for $90.00 and that would be for a single ramp 4 ft long. Upsell them into 2 ramps and add a per-foot additional price. I list mine for 5 foot long and 40.00 per additional foot. That ads up quick and makes it worth my time. The trick to posting an ad is to get them talking to you and then up-sell them. Once they start talking to you, you should be able to hook most of them. Also, id message the 100 guy and act like you are looking to buy.. see what he is making them out of, What are his up-sales? Id find it hard to believe his 100.00 price is for a pair of ramps... Id see what he is ACTUALLY selling, not just what his add says. ;)

    Great job explaining things in Solidworks. I would like to add something you might find of use and that's the s key shortcut. By pressing the s key you will bring up a popup menu of the most commonly used menu items like line, arc and smart dimensions, right at your mouse position. No need to move the mouse over to the title menu to select the desired function and then move it back to position in the drawing, just press the s key and then select the desired function in the mini-menu that appears. Also similar to how you can define one line equal to another you can make a dimension equal to another and/or a fraction of it by using the dimension name and math symbols along with numbers in the dimension field. "d2", "d2/2", "d2*2", etc. CAD/CAM can be a real time suck if you aren't proficient at it and it really annoys me that so many companies put learning these software products behind a pay wall... It's great to see so many how-to examples for free, for everyone to consume.

    • @leftylattin
      @leftylattin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tools regardless of trade are an investment. Its either a time investment because they make the job shorter(if i sell something for 100 bucks and it takes 10hrs to build thats 10/hr. If i can get it down to 1 hour thats 100/hr). Or its an investment towards quality. I can drill all my holes with a regular drill, but knowing every hole is dead on straight just makes it all fit together a bit better. Better quality builds fetch higher prices for your work. Or its an investment in your whole life. Weve got thousands of dollars worth of tools in our shop, literally nothing i cant fix on my car or home. I dont think i have ever paid someone to come fix or do anything for me. Ive had friends and family ask me to help them do something at their house before, i say sure and i look at what they need, figure out what tools i need and ask them to show me to their tools so i can grab what i need. They will either take me to the garage or tell me to wait there and turns out all they have is some unopened molded plastic box of crappy tools from walmart. Also its not like you buy 35k+ worth of tools all at once. Its over time and getting the really spendy stuff at auctions and fb marketplace for super cheap. If you set aside some money every month to buy tools (and learn to use them) you will quickly find out you not only save thousands and thousands of dollars not needing to hire someone to fix your stuff, you will also have the option to make money with those tools making or fixing stuff for others. Seems like a nice little way to make some money if you ever really need it.

    your main frame rails are 3x2? and looks like 3/16"? I see that CM uses 4" 3/16 for the main rails. Other plans I've seen use 11ga for the main rails.

    • @tinmanmetalworks
      @tinmanmetalworks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i mostly use 2x3 .120 wall for the main frame rails. It has a tinsel strength of 26,000 LBS per Square inch... The suspension on the truck will give out way before the bed does... When you install the bed this is adjusted on the mounting of the bed. Most in my experience need shimmed higher on the back than in the front as most of the time the mounts are lower in the rear. So all of this is adjustable on install. The tires certainly wont come up and hit the bed at that height. I think different people use different material based on how they install them, not so much "how tough" the material is perceived to be. If that makes sense ..... Did that answer your question?

    Awesome, been working on getting better at using my Crossfire Pro. Kinda had to step back a bit, being the old dog I am in figuring out the works of it all. I'm using fusion 360 and I really don't have it down yet, have made a few items using it, and figured I could see what else there is out there to try since I'm doing sheet metal and all, this sounds and looks interesting,.....you gave positive encouragement. Thanks

    If I'm not making a million dollars a week, it's not worth my time to even F with it!! Sorry, can't tell you what exactly we make with our CNC plasma's, there are NDA agreements involved, but I will say we manufacture automotive race parts. Thanks for sharing, great ideas!

    Subscribed. I’m trying to make custom shower drain covers. Would you recommend the crossfire for this purpose?

    • @billjacobs386
      @billjacobs386 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      IMHO, ask yourself how many you plan on making? If it's just this one, and It'll set it in the garage collecting what ever then probably not. Make cardboard patterns, and any fab shop can make it. But if you've got grinding dust in your veins by all means, buy one! You become more professional and productive Enjoy you'll be glad u did!

    • @tinmanmetalworks
      @tinmanmetalworks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the crossfire will do that just fine. Any of them will make you money though

    • @Zachyzarc
      @Zachyzarc 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @billjacobs386 TBH I'd like to make money at it. I've been a tile setter for 24 years, which is the industry that a designer drain cover would be useful for. The back and knees would be thankful.

    Great video, just got done watching your making money with CNC plasma. I have had my Crossfire Pro for a couple years now. I don't do much advertising and still have made what I call my beer money fund. 🙂 I just upgraded to the THC and ordered my air dryer yesterday. Are you on the Langmuir forums?

    • @tinmanmetalworks
      @tinmanmetalworks 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not on the Langmuir forums much but I am a member of the Langmuir Facebook groups. as my name though. Charles Woten, Not as Tin Man. I do post a lot of free stuff on Langmuir's Fire Share site from time to time. I have a ton of free stuff there as well as on my website tinmanmetalworks.com ... I need to keep up on both more than I have been but... working on it. I want everyone to succeed. I started with a first gen crossfire no THC back then in my garage.. Worked my way into a 4000 sq ft shop and do it full time now. Id like to help everyone get to that point! Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos. I hope they help you grow!
