Family Kitchen with Mark
New Zealand
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 มิ.ย. 2010
Living in New Zealand with all this great produce and amazing landscape, it really is a paradise to behold.
I’ve worked in hospitality all my life and now run my own business called Family Kitchen with Mark.
On this channel we post food demos, kayaking fishing missions, original recipes and more. Why kayak fishing on a food channel? I took up the hobby when I moved to New Zealand and hadn't ever, I mean ever, fished before!!!
If you're from Wellington and are interested in the business side of things, then go to our website.
If you have a question or query, contact Mark and his team

I just love kayak fishing so don't be surprised to see quite a few fishing videos during the warmer months. I'll catch and cook some species native to New Zealand.

🍣 🍱 Making MAKI SUSHI 🍣 🍱
I've always loved MAKING MAKI SUSHI for so many reasons.
I ❤️ sushi, as does my family.
Heaps of fun making.
Who wouldn't like that wasabi, soy umami?
There is always a great selection of fish in New Zealand. Sometimes, I use what I catch, and that's even better for sushi/sashimi dishes.
In this video, I've used three techniques for rolling my maki. The traditional bamboo matt and the machine. It's not difficult. I've prepared the rolled sushi by two methods while using the matt.
Preparing sushi is very difficult, hence the years it takes to master, but this is more down to hand-rolling, filleting, and mastering the many techniques of cooking, curing etc, Knowing how to use certain cuts and how best to age the fish before using. I could go on and on, for I've such admiration for these types of chefs.
The maki sushi I have prepared is much simpler and is (hopefully) easier to follow. The cooking of the rice, washing and using the correct grains is probably the hardest part of this recipe.
If you're not subscribed or a follower of mine on social media, I'd love to have you onboard. I don't post as regularly on TH-cam, but I'm making changes I do post daily on my other socials, especially Facebook and Instagram.
Thanks for watching.

Fishing Kapiti Coast in New Zealand
มุมมอง 8532 หลายเดือนก่อน
Kayak fishing in New Zealand is truly incredible. I love being out on the kayak because of the rugged coastline, species of fish and wildlife, exceptional foraging, types of surf and natural beauty. Had a bit of a struggle on the water this time out though. I'll let you watch the video to see what went on. Another life, death experience to add to the list, unfortunately. It's been a while since...
Spare Ribs 2 DIE For **MOUTHWATERING**
มุมมอง 1194 หลายเดือนก่อน
Tender, moist, BBQd, flavour-busting dishes that emphasise the benefit of glazing, basting, and resting. I'm so sorry it's been ages since I last posted. The business is booming and as a small business owner, I'm often terribly busy and have limited time. Who's complaining? I cooked two ribs and demonstrated different methods of finishing. I can't tell you how important it is to baste the ribs ...

Roasted NEW ZEALAND Lamb Dinner
มุมมอง 2178 หลายเดือนก่อน
New Zealand has some of the best lamb. The meat I'm using has been locally purchased through a farm in the Waikato which is located in the North West of the North Island of NZ. Home to over 25 million sheep and a few homo sapiens (just over 5 million), it's a unique country alright. I've called this place home for over 17 years now and base myself in Wellington, the capital. The full recipe for...
BIG BAIT for BIG FISH
มุมมอง 3638 หลายเดือนก่อน
Using BIG BAIT to catch big fish is the name of the game in today's video. A solo mission trying to hook up to some kahawai to use as bait. I'm back in Pukerua Bay on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. A spot I know all too well which is beneficial when fishing alone. If you're new to this channel and are a bit confused to see cooking and kayaking together on the same platform I...

Hooking a MAKO SHARK & KINGFISH in New Zealand
มุมมอง 56510 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hooking a mako shark and kingfish on the same trip is what we dream about as fishermen. Two big species and luckily for me, all on camera. As I mentioned in the video, I caught a smaller-sized mako the last time out but didn't have my cameras on board. It's truly mind-blowing some days on the water with the sun gleaming down, other boats, kayaks, and divers making the most of summer, people on ...
'EVERYONE CAN DO' Stir Fried Chicken with Vegetables
มุมมอง 18710 หลายเดือนก่อน
My 'EVERYONE CAN DO' Stir Fried Chicken with Vegetables is just that. Some have issues adding sauces to stir-fried dishes as they catch, burn, or ruin the meal. I'll show you a method that will firstly make stir-frying a lot easier, but it will make your Asian flavours pop and inspire!! This dish makes two dishes in one. The chicken and vegetables can be eaten by themselves or you can enjoy the...
