Without the help of the community and sponsors, CNC will not be able to support all the baby animals who come to us this year. Visit www.chattnaturecenter.org/event/wildlife-baby-shower/ to find out more!

They are not licensed for raptor rehab so they brought him to the Wildlife Rehab Center at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. After ro...
Bees as Pollinators
มุมมอง 352 ปีที่แล้ว
Georgia is home to over 500 species of bees, and although they might be a little less colorful than butterflies, they are the real MVPs of the pollinator world. Both pollen and nectar are essential parts of a bee’s diet - nectar provides energy in the form of carbohydrates while pollen provides proteins and other nutrients. In this video, Coles McLaulin, Unity Garden Coordinator at the Chattahoo...
Wasps as Pollinators
มุมมอง 2292 ปีที่แล้ว
Like bees, wasps have very high energy needs. While most wasps are carnivorous, they cannot survive on meat alone. They supplement their diet with a variety of sugar-rich foods such as fruits and, of course, nectar from flowers. As they pass between flowers, they transfer pollen along the way. In this video, Jacqueline McRae, Grounds Manager, and Horticulturalist at the Chattahoochee Nature Cen...
Flies as Pollinators
มุมมอง 6852 ปีที่แล้ว
Though flies are often overlooked in discussions of pollination, this ancient group of insects was likely one of the first to pollinate early flowering plants. Less fuzzy than most bees, they may not be the most efficient pollinators, but in some environments, flies carry the majority of the burden. In this video, Caston Noorullah, Gardener at the Chattahoochee Nature Center explains more detai...

This explains why I have Barred Owls. The wetlands here are a perfect location for such birds. We also get Wood Ducks.

What a cutie! Thanks for the image of the feather. I wondered how owls were different than other species. So sad about her eye, but I'm glad she was rescued and well cared for now! 💓

Box turtles are awesome. They can learn and respond to their names, and they can show playful affection once they come to trust their human. They also have nerves in their shells that allow them to feel much more than you think. Some even love to feels a stiff bristled brush strokes across their backs.

A wonderful animal, even with their impressive teeth, they are a very gentle animal and rarely bite, but they put up a great bluff, hissing and snarling, you would think the are going to attack, but they normally scurry off. Many people call them 'nature's pacifists'.
