Can you post a link to the rainbow color pattern please to purchase?
Oh they look amazing, the first one is especially breath taking. Hope you find a good place for them in your home :).
I have no clue
I’m showing how glow in the dark HTV looks after sublimation.
Your thumbnail doesn't match your description. 5 ways to print on black isn't the same thing as 5 ways to sublimate. Sublimation is ONE type of print. So your video is actually "how to sublimate on a black shirt in 5 different ways". Very misleading
Sublimation ink does not show on black - and this particular term was actually a very high search term people looking how to do this used.
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
WAIT...standard inkjet ink or subli ink?
Sublimation ink
3yrs later..... this video just popped up for me and I have to say thank you! I have been doing the sub transfer method onto subli because I got tired of fighting with and doing extra things to get it to go thru my printer, let alone getting to the party where the ink doesn't dry too safely cut. Anywho! It never occurred to me that you could press the subli twice (once for the transfer and the again into the fabric). I assumed it would warp or something. Can't wait to try this now. 🤗
Fantastic! Glad it helped.
What type of inkjet printer are you using? Do you know if it has dye ink or pigment ink? From what I know pigment ink will last after many washes, dye will not. Thanks.
I used 2 different printers. When I refer to the ones being printed with the sublimation process, that is dye ink. Pigment ink for the other ones.
@@stacyodesignsStacy when you say inkjet printer you are using sublimation ink in the inkjet printer!. I'm new to this, my understanding it always has to be sublimation ink no matter what..
I’m following the steps to the T , and not getting the results you did. Someone suggested it’s the pressure . I have a slide away heatpress and I adjusted the pressure and have tried different heat settings and not working. Now I’m looking into a different heat press and differed dtf powder to do this hack
Can you explain what is not working?
Hi! How did this hold up after washing? Thanks so much!
This particular project was for a client, so I'm not sure. BUT,...before I offered this type of material to my customers I had made many shirts for my family to test out. Lasts about 25 washings before the image starts to blur a little. The HTV has never peeled or cracked though.
She say its 25 washes... Y go through all yhis sublimation than ? Could have just print with clear htv with inkjet ? It is 25 washes too.
You are absolutely correct. There are so many ways to achieve this. However, I prefer the feel and vibrancy of the subli.
I tried this technique for the first time. It printed beautiful and the powde covered great but once it's heated looked reddish. Now seeing your video I'm wondering if that can happen if it's over heated? Have you had any experience with it being a red/pink tinge after heating?
I haven't experienced that after heating. But maybe your colors are a little off and you saw the true print after heating. Sublimation prints out dull, and heat brings the colors to life.
Can I see the glow in the dark actually glow when it's dark plz
I just posted a quick short to show you, and tagged you. But here is the direct link to view it: th-cam.com/users/shortsU4zruO9328Q?feature=share
Do you still use it? How long does one sheet last
I am still using it. The video has now been posted for 11 months. However, I did purchase 2 - and I just grab whichever. But yes, very durable as long as you use it properly.
Hint I "Discovered"... The curing stage is super simple if you do it in your heat press. What you should do is set the press to heat the silicon pad for say 30 seconds. Use the target temperature for the sublimation, in my case 385 F. Once the pad is hot put your film with the ink/powder SIDE UP of course. Lower lightly the press BUT NEVER TOUCH THE DTF. It will fully cure in around 30 seconds. Never fails.
I’m going to try this. Do you mean a silpat?
I have tried with the heat press, heat gun, even the back of an iron. So many ways to get great results with this process.
Silpat is a brand, no? Its a tephlon coated sheet. Its very thin.
So confusing I’m glad I found this! I printed mirror and my cut was backwards! Ugg
It does get confusing! And now Design Space has defaulted 'mirror' when you set it to cut HTV. I hope this was helpful.
I know this video is several years old but I'm new to using vinyl. Your video is very good and straight to the point. My question is did you tape your design to the shiny or matt side? Next once it cooled and you peeled of the sub paper, what is next? Reading through the comments you mentioned you stuck the design on a mug. How did you do that? Is there another peel of some kind in order to stick the design on a hard surface?
Hello! Welcome to the community :) So, Oracal is adhesive vinyl. It comes in matte or glossy finish. In this case I used matte. The other side is the paper that you peel off. I just hand cut around the design, then peeled off the backing paper and adhered to a mug. It does not require heat.
How did you prevent the ribbon from fraying?
Since the ribbon is polyester, the heat from the press was enough to seal the cut edges. But you can also hit it with a flame really quick.
How do you layer the white and the clear without bubbles forming? Whenever I do this, the white goes down fine but the moment I press the clear, bubbles form
hmmm - I've never had that issue. HTV requires more pressure than sublimation. Try increasing that. Also, maybe your press is a little uneven? If pressure isn't the issue, try using a pressing pillow to distribute the pressure evenly.
Hahaha! 😂 Cute!
Thanks - Actually waiting NOW in anticipation of the baby to be born (hopefully) today!
CHICKEN BUTT 😂
You know why???????
Thank you for the video. Mine has just arrived and I'm keen to use it! Just noticed though, that you haven't attached the pink crossbar on the mug press, where the handle is. I spent quite a while fiddling with all those pieces and screws!
I didnt? I didn't have any pieces left over. I'll have to check -thank you. (however, it didn't seem to make a difference as the print still came out great)
Thank you for sharing! I love the pink color.
@@iammarymaryann you are welcome. So fun, right?! ☺️
Thank you for the tutorial!
@@tzvialorusso1602 you are welcome! I hope it helps 🥰
Great video.. just a few questions. What is the difference between Dark Transfer and HTV sublimation for dark t-shirts? Which one is better? Do the HTV Ront crack like Dark Transfer?
So, they are both sublimatable HTV's. Better? hmmm. Well, I can say I've used both products - after about 4 or 5 washes the HTVRONT brand showed SIGNIFICANT dye migrations and started to blur. But initially prints beautifully. The EasySubli holds up to (in my experience) a minumum of about 20 washings. Neither cracked, more of a ink blurring situation. (I'm also not the best at following washing directions though)
Question !? Im new on all these I have the Sg500 if I want to sublimate on a dark color do I also need the Subli mask or just the easysubli HTV ? 😊
Sublimation will not show on dark fabrics. You would need some sort of HTV to carry the color. If you use a sublimation HTV like easysubli, you can just press a regular sublimation. If you want to use the hack, you can actually use a regular white HTV. The subli mask is a stick transfer tape that holds your design together. You would need that to make sure its lined up if you have negative space or little pieces in your design.
Thanks so much for all the information in this video, very helpful!
Glad you liked it. Hope it helps
What is the clear film you put over it to iron it on? And what did you use to print it on? 😊
The clear film usually comes with the DTV. It's basically like a trasfer tape. The material is used with a regular inkjet printer. Not sublimation ink.
@@stacyodesigns where did you buy the DTV
After you open the top, roll the box over and pull the box off of the item rather than trying to pry the item out of the box. :D
Has anyone found out a way to connect to a third party shipping platform? I have an etsy store and a website and I use shipstation to ship but Maker's place is asking for API key. Has anyone used this before and where can I find mine?
I'm not familiar with Shipstation's platform - but a quick google search shows "Go to Account Settings. · Select Account from the left-hand sidebar, then choose API Settings. Settings Sidebar: Account dropdown." This was from Shipstation.
Thank you for your tutorial. See you soon MI
You are very welcome. :)
Can this be done with injet? I have a cannon ts9000 PIXMA and I don’t want to spend on a sublimation printer for just my own and my kids shirts (not business)
Yes! It doesn't come out as vibrant - but it definitely works. Take of look at this showing the wash results: th-cam.com/users/shortsXk8QFOfTMs4
What if the image comes out blank
If the film is running through your machine, but not printing, the sensors are not recognizing it. Try taping a white paper to it. Tape the length of the top and bottom. I have also seen some people put a few lines of tape down the back as well.
Mine always turns out stiff then turns dark after wash
After this video, I never got around to posting an update. The initial print and press was great. After only a few washes in I did notice an absolute TON of dye migration. All of the white parts are now a blotchy gray. :( I'm going to stick with either DTF or easy Subli for black shirts.
Did it come out where the image can stretch with the shirt every time I try to do on black it ends up stiff feels like a piece of paper just pressed on
I didn't actually find this overly stiff, as it is vinyl. But, you can definitely feel it.
Thank you! Great tutorial and information/directions. I wish there was a ONE step process and I am sure it’s coming soon but for now, I will try this! You gained a followers with your easy to follow step by step instructions, no extra frills (love “frills”) just don’t have the time to watch a 45 minute video, so THANK YOU!
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words. Yeah - I don't have time to make a 45 minute video. I try to be direct, and be the teacher that i would want to learn with. Sometimes you just want to learn the steps,...not watch a documentary about shirt making. ;)
Wow, this is genius! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. Glad you liked it!
Are you using sublimation ink?
I am! These turned out way better than expected. I am very happy with this product. Also, I stuck it on a coffee mug at my home, using it often, and have been putting it in the dishwasher. It has held up!!!! I really need to do an update video on it.
is inkjet using pigment ink?
Yes.
Very helpful ❤ Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
❤
Glad you like it ❤
Yeah that 400 degrees for 15 mins will have your house burnt down. LOL!
100%! This was my first experience with the DTF hack. Now I use a heat gun on low and I can control the melt better.
Why wend i press it is till look like the material of the EasySubli?
I'm not sure I understand your question. The Subli is a sublimatable HTV. You will always see/feel it. It is not like sublimation paper where you transfer the ink only.
I am making listings but I cannot find where I add the SKU. I have several items and I need to know the SKU and size when someone buys, like on Etsy...am I just not seeing it?
They are always updating the platform, but last I saw it was on the individual product page.
I love this video great details for newbies ! I love Dtf! Thank you so much for the video and shout out for your dtf provider.
Thanks! My girl @DreamDesignInk always provides the best service and prints. You should check them out on Instagram :)
So you take a paper sheet that you have printed on and press it with heat im not sure to understand
This is done with sublimation. It is a whole different process than regular inkjet printers. This is printed with sublimation ink with a converted Epson printer onto sublimation paper. Then pressed onto Oracal 651 vinyl.
So it is more of a time and temperature rather than amount of pressure that produces good results?
It's a mix truthfully. It also depends on your press. Mine tends to run a little hot. Sublimation in general has pressure sweet spot. Too mcuh and you burn. Too little and not even pressure. You have to test it for your conditions.
Can this method be used on a mug please?
I would not recommend it. Polycrylic is not food safe. Go with either a sublimation coated mug, or try out the UV DTF transfers. They're amazing, can go on any hard surface and wash great.
Cardboard paper, 20 seconds 177 centigrades very high pressure does the best job. Also with cotton canvas you get the matte and fibers texture.
Thanks - I really want to LOVE this. I'm going to try your method.
Great tutorial . Thanks for all the great information. Which one was the softest for wearing on a shirt but also had a great colour. I see that Easy subli had the best coverage but it looks really think and bulky. I have a shirt to make for Line Dancing on a Black shirt. I don't want it to be stiff. Thanks in advance for your help and will continue to watch your videos for more tips.
Thank you for your question. I would stay go with easy subli or flock. That being said, create your design so there is negative space. That helps with the feel and wearablity. You might also consider traditional DTF transfers - but again, with negative space. Any design that is a big block on top of HTV ill feel weird to wear.
