The mission of this channel is to help you become the best physical version of you through education and empowering the viewer on all matters related to physical wellness. The channel's creator Avilarsh Lukhan (Avi), has been a qualified physiotherapist for nearly two decades practicing in Durban, South Africa.
He has a niche area in orthopaedic and sport injuries. Avi has worked with many South African national teams including Athletics and Para-Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Swimming, Rugby 7s, Judo, Rowing, Wrestling, Golf, Gymnastics, Weightlifting, Triathlon, Soccer and Volleyball. Avi has represented Team South Africa's medical team at various local and international events such as The Commonwealth Games(2014), World Games(2013), African Games(2015, 2019), Youth Commonwealth Games( 2017) and the highlight of his sporting travels was his selection for the 2016 and 2021 Olympic Games.

Currently, the Japanese government is bullying Japanese farmers, which is a problem, but we Japanese will continue to do our best to provide delicious food to people overseas as much as possible. Thank you for your comment. That is difficult to answer without assessing the area. There are many variables to assess including the type of tear, the duration of the condition, the strength of the mobility and stability muscles and the general metabolic health of the person

Agreed. The video states the most optimal way for breathing in an ideal situation. However, we need to meet our body where it is at and do what we can

That still happens to me. Honesty, authenticity and sincerity always wins. Remind them that you not remembering their name has nothing to do with them but everything to do with you. I'm sure they can appreciate that. You can make them feel part of the solution by saying that this is something you are working on and they are helping you improve your memory

Why does this type of breathing help? What is going on inside the body?
Hi. Slowing the breathing rate allows the body to utilse oxygen more efficiently. Slower breathing patterns with longer exhales allows the body to transition into a parasympathetic (more relaxed) state. This is useful when dealing with stressful situations. Furthermore, slowing down breathing is more challenging and requires greater awareness of one's body. This is always a good thing. Hope that helps
Hello Doctor. Could you please tell me the importance of the breathe hold. What is its purpose? Does it not activate the stress response ? How would this calm you afterwards ?
This allows the air to travel from the upper lung(smallest portion) to the bases(larger portion). Additionally, The breath hold slows the respiratory rate which optimizes the body's state
Thank you for the reasoning. Does the 7 hold not activate the stress response as the diaphragm is held in suspension. How about doing the 4 8 exhale 7 pause then repeat etc. Would that not be more effective to stimulate the parasympathetic system. Would love to understand the physiology of both 4 7 8 but in the Andrew Weil way and the way I mentioned. Thank you for your response.
