The Protean is a badass for a smaller knife. Looks cool and feels good. I like how the fuller looks like a rifle bullet too. Not sure if thats intended. Good shit
I def think the window cutout bullet shape is intentional. Prince customs was first into firearm mods before knives

Honestly I feel like the protean has the aesthetics of what is supposed to be a bigger 8+ inch knife. It’s a bit weird to me. I think for a small edc size the design language of the Rosie is better. If I had the opportunity to get one.. I think I’d go Rosie. But it’s close. I think if the Protean was in something other than 20CV I’d be more inclined to get that. I just don’t have good experience with 20CV. I’ve had a 20CV Sweeney and it chipped like a MF. Haven’t held either. My likely first out of the top dog makers is gonna be a Cortex XL I got on preorder. Excited for that one.

I agree with your scores. However, Oz is on 3700 Rosie's and Princeton on 200 Protean's. Protean's continue to get better. So maybe you can revisit this knife off again this time next year. I'd be interested to see those scores.

How did the owner of the Protean tune the pocket clip to help remove some of the ting from deployment? I'd like to try it on one of mine.

I believe Princeton mentioned that in the Knife Junkie interview he did not too long ago, that the clip doesn’t sit flush or tight up against the handle, and so you get a little vibration from it on opening/closing, thus making the “ting”. My educated guess is that the owner just slightly “tuned” or bent the clip until it was sitting tight and removed any excess space that could allow the clip to make a noise if you tapped on it. Just my guess though..
@ that’s exactly what was done… I did the same thing to my Yeager v1 to get rid of the ting

Great comparison! Love both Rosie and Protean. Only scores I would change are ergos and acoustics. For my hand the Rosie wins. My Protean has the ting and it wins in the acoustics category. As the Protean I have is factory fresh, I can tell you the blade is wicked sharp. I would like both to have the relief cut on the inside like QC does on the Drift large.

They're full of shit. A proper disk is an excellent opening method. I packed a Benchmade CQC7 until I wore the liner out. It was fine. I wish this was priced closer to the Mordax. It would look good in the case with my Mordax and Malibu.
