Maybe Theriz, but probably Therzis
I'm a big bird of prey nerd with some extra love towards spiders and reptiles, which is pretty much all I upload here. I have experience training crested caracaras and have some spider species as pets, either temporary for research or as actual like the Kukulcanias I show in my videos :)

Black Vulture circling and wind noises. That's all
Posted this to show the circling behaviour to some friends. It's a (thankfully dying) myth that vultures circle above dying animals waiting for them to die. The reason they circle is because there's places where thermals are formed and they want to stay above them. Thermals are basically columns of hot air that form above a surface that produces a lot of heat, for example, a big rock under the sun on a mountain. Because of gravity and density, hot air goes up (this is why for example a flame on a candle always goes up, the heat is making it go upwards!). What does this mean to the Vulture? That if he goes to that column of hot air, it's going to get some lift because well the air is pulling it up. This is why vultures have such big and broad wings, they work similar to a sail on a boat and catches as much rising air as it can, which makes it climb up in the air without having to waste energy flapping those giant wings. And why they circle? Just to stay inside that thermal. If they saw a meal then they would dive down to get it instead of being a beacon for all predators that says "A dying prey is riiiight below me, come and steal it from me!"
And of course, it doesn't work just for thermals but also for any type of upward current of air, like we see in cliffs
This was recorded in the Triple Frontier, which is, you guessed it, a triple frontier. It's between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. This was recorded from the argentine side

One minute of Kraken (Kukulcania hibernalis)
มุมมอง 13K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Kraken! I love her. Named like this because of the cool ship she has on her "enclosure" which sails above a sea of web, sometimes even getting visited by the Kraken herself! She may be the youngest kukul I have bit she was the first! Taught me so much about the species and made me fall in love with them, which is why I later got two other kukuls, Harpy (of which I already have a "One Minute of ...
Harpy - Kukulcania hibernalis iridescence
มุมมอง 7K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Quick video of one of my kukuls, Harpy, showing off her gorgeous iridescence. I don't usually take them out but this time I had to so of course I took the opportunity to get a quick vid and pics to share with some friends Music: "A Cold Wet Planet" by Ben Prunty for Subnautica: Below Zero
One minute of Harpy (Kukulcania hibernalis)
มุมมอง 24K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is Harpy, one of my three female Kukulcania hibernalis. She lives freely on a shelf in her nice cuckoo clock (kukul clock? lol) next to a few very old books that I don't read. She is free, yes, but she doesn't escape because she has no reason to, she loves that little house she has My other kukuls are Kraken and Vampire, also with names based on mythological creatures. Harpy is called like...
Jumping Spider intelligence demonstration (Menemerus semilimbatus)
มุมมอง 41Kปีที่แล้ว
Menemerus semilimbatus, a very common jumping spider species, planning her hunt. I recorded this at home long ago but decided to share it because there almost aren't any videos showing the intelligence of some jumping spiders in an obvious way and sadly some of those videos are forced. There's also the fact that spiders from the Menemerus genus aren't know for their intelligence, almost all of ...
Compilation of Arquímedes and Hipatia, the southern crested caracaras
มุมมอง 5682 ปีที่แล้ว
Some nice highlights of Arqui and Mig (Hipatia) up to June of 2023. These are a pair of wild, free birds that I started training on 2019, Arquímedes being the male and Hipatia the female. I train them around two or three times per month, with the exception of October-February which I don't even visit them so that they can go through the breeding season and taking care of their babies without an...
Aww Cool 😊😎 Hand Feeding a Female Celler Spider 🕷️!!
да, это круто
Imagine a god grabbing you, breaking your legs, and leaving in front of a hungry leopard...
i got mindblown :D
Free pest control
i love the detail of the spider freezing once it peers over the leaf. it knows its jumper legs are the hind legs, which are still on the underside of the leaf. if the spider makes a sudden move, the fly will notice, so the spider waits until the fly leaves momentarily to finish its climb onto the topside
I love jumping spiders!
Damn they have great AI
Ripping the wing off a fly is a serious red flag as a human.
Only humans would participate in cooperative hunting with random animals and get nothing out of it other than the entertainment of watching a hunt. What a unique world we live in.
Benign eldritch intervention
Rufus Griswold, the most notorious stalker in classical literature would be supremely jealous at what the jumping spider can do!
Impressive and interesting. 👍
Poor fly bro.
So beautiful
I have befriended many jumping spiders in my area and a few have come home with me. I’ve found it interesting that even among the same species they will have different personalities. I have kept a couple, mainly older ones, who are quite content staying with me - on sunny days I will take them outside to let them wander on a tree and they will come back to me
That's a big ass fly.
She was waiting that you feed her.
Co-hunter with a jumper. What an honour! Rooting for the jumper all the way. 🕷
Excellent 🎉🎉🎉 I subscribed to your channel 😀🙏
what a lovely spider! that's a neat place it's set up in too!
Thank you!
El mio me da de su comida cuando lo alimento y tambien me deja acariciarlo
why do you keep spiders as pets? they are cats that make silk
Lmao you really made the edit
I had to lol
I actually love spiders. This is uniquely beautiful. Never seen that kind of iridescence.
Yeah! It's gorgeous, you would never expect such beautiful iridescence out of a dark brown spider like this one, you can only see it from certain angles and with a very bright light, but damn it is cool
@@Therzis I like the really long legs too
After all those minutes of stalking, the spider was like at the end,”Screw it I’m just gonna go in for the kill!”
Beautiful legs.
SUBNAUTICA OST WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Is this a Wendy's?
No sir we are at my house at night sacrificing lives to a hungry harpy
@@Therzis oh that sounds about right
Music is "Leviathan" from Subnautica by Simon Chylinski. Great soundtrack, it's so sad it only last one minute
My whole life I thought bugs and things were just automatons without personality or soul. Then one day my wife and I decided to get a pet Praying Mantis. My entire view was changed in a short time, learning that despite these creatures being thought of as just a bug, they can have beautiful personalities and they will surprise you. Our little Manty showed me that the little creatures are just as important as anything else. These little guys remind me a lot of our little Manty with all their personality and playfulness. RIP Manty ❤
Yeah! Arthropods are amazing, you can see the differences in personality from one individual to another. And god I would love to get a praying mantis as a pet one day, they are such cool critters
helldivers 2 reference: automatons
@@extremed1arrhea Um... Automaton is just a word brother
@@HopperDragon No UR WRONG!
You must really have disliked that poor fly! 😮
I don't think that was fair! The fly wanted to live too! You shouldn't have intervened. I am unsubscribing!
😂😂😂😂😂
The real intelligence here is how the clever spider secretly manipulates the human to assist in the hunting by making it break the flys wing. The spider is a clever one!
