McCormick Deering M 1934

well this my fist American engine its a very late McCormick Deering M this engine would be 1934 as the dating table only goes up to 1933 so according to the table this engine was not made. it needs a few adjustments at its not running 100% right . but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and hope you enjoy it.

I did not have an engine there but my granddad did that I looked after. he took a 1910 Fairbanks Morse Jack Of All Trades. 2HP at 400RPM hit n miss there was a good line out of engines this year.

How did you get the rings into the cylinder without a ring compressor?
So you look about 15yo in this video and now you must be 25yo - i wonder if the interest is still there after all these years. Love to know if you still tinker with this kinda stuff. all the best mate
I've just gotten one of these but it has a completely different carb set up and reide valve set up on the front. I need to get it home and do some work on it

Fully satisfied by watching.... Acknowledge by heart the hard work of the maintenance team. Only passionate men can do this. 👍
Can you show me the fuel governor diagram?for same engine like that
Lleva agua?
Thanks for this! The engine definitely deserves the detail shots. So many variations on a pendulum governor!
Great video! I come back and watch it about once a year. I'm in the US and old, so I'll never get to Anson.
According to the helpful chap at 'Stationary Engine Parts' and also looking at historical Lister engine data, you are reading the information plate incorrectly. The information plate states LD 15. That's an LD engine type of year 15, ie. 1950+15 = 1965. Not as you stated a LD1 year 5, because production didn't start until 1956 on the LD's.
I might be making comments 8 years too late but, the 'W' on the oil grade is not the 'Weight', the 'W' is for Winter. The oil gets thinner as it gets hotter, not thicker. Also these engines are not designed to run on a synthetic or semi synthetic oil, mineral based only ie. no detergents, if there is detergents in the oil then all the sediment in the bottom of the engine will be pumped around the lubrication system, which is not what you want because the engine doesn't have an oil filter. Mineral oils leave the sludge in the sump, which could be washed out with white spirits through the inspection hatch, sump plug removed, sludge removed.
information and characteristics please
You've done a fantastic job of describing in detail the skill of rebuilding engines. Thank you. Really enjoyed watching this.
How do they run without gas?
Perfect, helped me figure out how to get my flywheel off. Found a 56mm 12 point socket does fit the flywheel bolt. Found it's best to take the piston out before trying this, mine got damaged on the head as i tried to loosen the bolt.
Mechanical marvels, especially for their age, that are mesmerizing to watch . More like art in motion. Thanks !
Hello we have same engine but in it’s working clothes not restored like yours. We are missing splash guard on crank and governors. We can get them fabricated no problem. We are also missing the brass plate with engine number on it. If I was to ask you kindly would you be able to get a mould made from yours. Ie. Plastesene or something and send it to me. We found our number stamped on crank. Obviously blank your number up No harm in asking I spose. Many thanks
Un saludo cordial desde República Dominicana muy buen video yo tengo uno parecido a a ese del video me le falta el tanque de combustible el filtro de diésel el filtro de aire y el mufler donde se puede comprar y la junta de la culata y lo babi de la viela
Hi James can you give me what rotation is your starting of the engine and what is the wipac cj magneto number is on your engine.
That is cool you have a pit in your garage. They are banned here in Canada but grandfathered if they were there before a certain date

I go camping at tower head farm in st buryan every year! I have an ld1 on my autotruck. Well done for saving another old engine.
Where did u get ur rings
Should of had some rubber packing between the tank and them brackets otherwise good job
How are these engines classified according to numbers and letters
Nice one, bet your mum went nuts with that oil on the patio
Do you want to sell that engine?
Hello “engines in Cornwall” today is 7th Dec 2021 and have just returned home with a non running LD 15 which prompted me to look on TH-cam for info and found your series which I will be making good use of over the next few months so thank you for taking the effort to produce the video
Good working
can some one get the specifications of this engine?
Where can I get parts for my LT 1 and great job on that motor
Where can I get part at for my LT 1
Hi thanks for the video. I just bought an LD1 11 (so I guess its from 1961, the year I was born). I’ll try to start it today 🤞

Hi, Very insparing job,, kind regards
Sorry but I just couldn't miss those nice legs at 7:10 😋
What are measurement for the ring gaps
When I was growing up in the 60's, there were still workshops that used stationary motor and belt drive. "It's cheap power and why destroy something that worked well," said a manager at a small furniture factory where I lived at the time.
what type of engine is that at 12:05? a curious looking one... almost has a piledriver rhythm sound to it
An Otto-Langen atmospheric gas engine built under licence by Crossley. It is made to run on town gas, and has external flame ignition.

Out of curiosity Where do al the different model names stand for with Lister? LD, LR, LV, LT SL, SR etc. What model is for what usage?
Nice collection I'm thinking of buying an LT1, what you think. Is it a nice engine or an SL is a better choice?
