Conan O'Brien Crunes "Trouble" at the 2006 Emmys
มุมมอง 536K18 ปีที่แล้ว
Conan O'Brien parodies the Music Man with his version of "Trouble" at the 2006 Emmy Awards.
the way he says screwed scratches my brain
"Thank you! Thank you! I'm an arse!" Conan laid the groundwork for being a perfect shitposter in public. Not crass enough to offend everybody. Just specific enough for everyone who recognizes a racist dog whistle to say "HEY wait a minute he's taking about _ME!"_
You know NBC kicked themselves when they kicked Conan off & Jay Leno's "return" brought it lower ratings
Limited musical ability my aunt’s Fanny! Not the Scottish kind!
I think Conan should have gone with the stronger tribute to Music Man and Preston's performance at the end, with a line similar to "Remember my name my friends, because after this I'll host this show but once [one time!]!"
So much of Conan's career from 2002-2023 is encapsulated in this one video.
2:33 any chances this is the performance he has pre-recorded and almost impressed Barry Manilow with hahahaha 😅 (I came from Conan Needs a Friend)
"Screeeeeeeeeewed" Is definitely shorter than I expected. The way Conan described it I imagined it going on for quite a while. I feel like I could probably hold that note.
Do you recall which episode he spoke about it on?
@@Mr.SuicidalWolfHey, if ever no one got back to you, it was the Kelly Clarkson episode
Nothing short of brilliant!
2:06 HE CAN'T SING! 2:20 We're all relying on Howie Mandel
All these years later and still relying on Howie Mandel
Wait there's a video of a cat on a toilet here? Why am I wasting my life watching this!
Best man on television 🙌🏻
Conan is the EMBODIMENT of Harold Hill! He would have been fantastic in the role!
Weeeeeeeell, we got trouble, my friends. Yes, we got trouble right here at NBC, With a capital T and that rhymes with G, As in "Gee, we're screwed". Yeah, we got trouble, Trouble right here at NBC. I know you don't care, But our network share is just one dude. Well, a few years ago we were sitting on top With Seinfeld, Frasier and Friends. Then those shows bailed and the new ones failed, And it started a nasty trend. And the guy who passed on Lost, Was promoted instead of tossed, And now the Peacock's getting it from both ends. Yeah, we got trouble... (Oh, we got trouble!) Right here at NBC. (At NBC!) With a capital T and that rhymes with G, as in "Gee, we're screwed." (We're screwed!) Yeah, we got trouble, (Oh, we got trouble!) Right here at NBC. (Right here) I hate to disrespect, but my lawyer checked, and I can't be sued. (His lawyer checked, he can't be sued.) (Trouble... trouble... trouble...) And it's not just NBC, folks. All of television is changing and we gotta change with it. TiVo has people skipping past commercials, Unlike the good old days when they just got up and left the room. (Trouble!) (Trouble... trouble... trouble...) And there's the internet. At this very moment your kids are on TH-cam Watching a cat on a toilet! Instead of watching that footage where it belongs... on the Fox network! (Trouble!) (Trouble... trouble... trouble...) And worst of all, TV's biggest night of the year Is kicking off with a song and dance number, Performed by a host with limited musical ability. (He can't sing!) Yeah, we got trouble! TV's in terrible, terrible trouble. We had a lot of viewers, now we got a few. (A few!) To prove things are going to hell, We're relying on Howie Mandel... With a capital T (With a capital T), and that rhymes with G, (And that rhymes with G) As in "GEE, WE'RE SCREEEEEEEEEEWED!!!!!!!!!!!!" (As in "GEE, WE'RE SCREEEEEEEEEEWED!!!!!!!!!!!!")
One of the funniest, most clever openings ever
You can tell he was having so much fun doing it!
How do they all do the "weeeeell" before the start of the song?
They who? Wasn't Conan the only one singing it?
Is there anyone around who's an all-round entertainer like Conan atm? This is great!
This is hilarious!
I had no idea he could do that …
Simpson’s did it! 😂
watching this in 2021 because it's still better than watching NBC
Fantastic version, with Conan's unbelievable Harold Hill. Conan, we need you on Broadway!
NBC has not been the same since he left.
Who is he? I want to know who this wonderful man is, is he a comedian?
the applepi 3.14 I know who he is now, back then I didnt know
the applepi 3.14 I know but i had never heard of him, I knew the name but not who he was
the applepi 3.14 XD
the applepi 3.14 uh, what? Idk what that is :P
the applepi 3.14 I use a system from the music man called The think system, and I don't understand any of hte g stuff or music notes or music sheets. I can only play harmonica and sing :P
loved being in the production number!
What the fuck is cruning
+Tony F bad singing
+Tony F crooning, as in Frank Sinatra's or Michael Buble's style of singing. I wouldn't consider what Conan does in this video to be crooning.
Crooning is a style of singing that is typically done with Jazz, Blues, Swing. It's a soft, low, smooth, jazzy type of singing style. Popular in the early to mid 20th century. Michael Buble is a contemporary singer who sings that style.
"Crunes"? Come on.
Oh Conan, your great! Just a fun trivia fact Conan wrote the Simpson's Episode Marge v the Monorail, which also parodies this song
Another fun fact - Conan claimed that he was actually offered the lead in the Music Man on Broadway after Craig Bieko left the show. He obviously couldn't' do the show and still host Late Night, so he turned it down. He said it was strange, but the producers must have known he had a strange obsession with that show (as evidence by this and the reference in the Monorail show).
who knew my prediction i made in my stand up peformence from 1999 would be true at the time i dresed as conan o brien and told the audience im not the real conan o brien nbc was to cheap to send the real conan that and im the only one who wpuld work for the free t shirt and tickets that were offerd i cant believe my joke about nbc was true when i called them cheap i may have dressed as conan and made fun of nbc but as i told the audience i am not the real conan. i even tell the audience if u came to see the real conan you were screwed out of the 10 bucks u paid at the door
I just watched the Jeff Goldblum interview when they talked this song.
I know where your coming from but seth's sounds hits the right notes it just sounds 3D this version just seems like it's just there
Seth McFarlane is terrible and you should feel bad for having such a terrible opinion.
seth mcfarlanes version was better
NBC is now 5th.
He actually got offered the role of Professor Harold Hill during the second revival of the show
I could see that happening. I really could.
I still watch this video time to time because it is so damn funny. I find it uncanny how Conan sang this before he ultimately got the chopping block from NBC. Love this!

Conan is great. Hands down. Better wayyyyy better than Jay. Conan, Stewart, Jimmy, those are the real funny guys.
Conan is pretty fun, I couldn't care less about the rest. 😅 Graham Norton is finny as well.
Wow my comment was 10 years ago and I haven't watched Conan in years. You just renewed my interest in Conan lol thanks
@@cruiserai haha, glad to be of help 👍
@blahmeblahblahblah Conan did more than "help" on the monorail episode - he pitched the idea and wrote the episode. ;) I never get sick of watching this clip. The Emmys need Conan every year.
I love him so much.
58 people couldn't find the video of the cat on the toilet.
Right time to go watch a cat on a toilet
@blahmeblahblahblah that's my favorite simpsons episode.conan is a genius!:)
GREAT use of nat sound in this commercial! love it!
he is a better actor than i thought i never would have guessed he is a cat on a toilet
@OddOneOut665 Yea, NBC is probably the channel I watch the most content from, until they cancel 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Rec and Community. Does any other channel make a worthwhile comedy in the US?
