Xiaojun, Kun, and Ten, the only main Vocalists (all three are the main vocalists of wayv), always deliver every single time! Even the one you called main vocal is actually a main rapper and sub vocalist of wayv 😅. They'll are amazing. Amazing reactions, thank you! I rarely sit down and rewatch all the mvs, so this was a great excuse and a lot of fun! You should definitely check out some live performances from SHINee next! They always have insane energy and are famous incredible live vocals while going all out on the dancing! The members used to say that they'd taste blood after performing Everybody lmao. Lots of Shawols prefer the concert performances/albums more that the studio versions haha! You can't go wrong with any, but the SHINee World Concerts 4 and 5 are the most iconic and well-loved. I really recommend Excuse Me Miss, Sherlock, and Replay from SWC4 and Ring Ding Dong + Lucifer, Why So Serious, Farewell My Love, Romeo and Juliet, and Please Don't Go (Jjong+Onew) from SWC5. (Also if you check out their SWC4/5 performances, you might see some of their concert outfits designed by Key!!) SHINee has incredible bsides too, they're so diverse and very experimental, there's just so much good stuff to listen to (Symptoms, Nightmare, Odd Eye, Feel Good are few I love) I loved your appreciation for Jonghyun's voice! He's still one of if not the best vocalist in kpop today. His voice is just so pretty and full of character, and super expressive, and he has incredible control and range, he even raps really well. I hope you also get the chance to check out more of his solo work! Its mostly all self-written and/or -produced, and he really plays around and flexes with his vocals, production, layering, etc. He was the first SM group idol with a self-written solo album! End of a Day is super special and very healing, the lyrics are so beautiful. There's a live performance for it that's just STUNNING. He wrote a lot for SHINee (almost every album had something from him), as well as for Taemin, IU, and EXO. 1:06:45 Haha yesss, Taemin is known as the idol's idol, and the best dancer by far imo. He's very well known and respected (as they all are).

    "View" came out in 2015, and it's one of the numerous songs that was written by Jonghyun. SHINee were actually the ones to introduce deep house style music to the Kpop industry with "View." In recent years this song has helped to create a resurgence of the music genre's popularity. Just another example of SHINee influencing a trend, yet again. "View" was even voted by the Korean public as one of the songs that needs to make a comeback in 2021, because it was so ahead of its time in 2015 that people didn't appreciate it for what it was. It has now become one of SHINee's most popular songs. Check out SHINee's appearance on the show MMTG ep. 181 and ep. 183, when SHINee came on the show to discuss the popularity of "View" and talk about their legacy in the Kpop industry, etc. (They even performed "View" in their Beyond Live virtual concert in 2021 as a special showcase for MMTG.) The look and concept for this MV was all created by Key in collaboration with their stylists. He decided he wanted their looks to emulate skater-boy fashion and, in order to accomplish that, they actually went to the local markets and purchased the clothes for this MV and their comeback stage outfits right off the rack. Which had them setting their own trend yet again, and doing something that no one else was doing at the time. (As you are starting to see, everything SHINee does is trendsetting, including their fashion. They are recognized for their huge influence on the fashion industry in Korea. SHINee is the group that is known for being the first to do almost everything. They start the trend and everyone else follows.) Onew is the one in the hat, Jonghyun is the blond with the Guns & Roses T-shirt, Key is the one with the headband and the Girl Power jersey, Minho is the tall one in the white tank top with the red lettering, and Taemin has the grey sleeveless shirt. Fun fact: This MV was filmed in Thailand, so the actresses are all Thai. The funny thing is, the girls don't speak Korean. The SHINee members said they really didn't interact much with the girls when not filming because they couldn't communicate with them. And, if you want to see how much fun they had making the MV, you should check out the behind-the-scenes footage. If you look up the lyrics for "View," you will see that the song is about being mesmerized and sort of brainwashed by the beautiful view as seen within a dream. The MV seems to be about living in the dream of being like a normal group of young men hanging out with friends and having fun in the summer without anything to worry about. However, SHINee have been kidnapped by the girls, and although they end up having fun hanging out together, I think why we hear the police sirens at the end is because the police are coming to rescue SHINee. If you notice, even though they are having fun most of the time, whenever the girls get close to them, SHINee pushes them away, or looks away. So SHINee are not necessarily 100% OK with everything that is happening. To see SHINee's "View" choreography better, you will have to check out a comeback stage or, better yet, one of their concert performances of "View." :D You really need to see a live version to appreciate it. Nothing is better than SHINee live. ;D

    "Dazzling Girl" is one of SHINee's Japanese songs, so that is why the MV is short because traditionally, most Japanese MVs use an abridged version of the song. The short version is the original version that was used for their Japanese promotions. My theory is that Japanese MVs are shorter because It's part of Japan's marketing strategy to make you buy the song or album in order to hear the full song. So, most of the time, to hear the whole song you have to see it live in concert, used in a dance practice video or listen to it on the album. We are lucky they even made a full version of the MV because that hardly ever happens with Japanese songs. However, Japanese fans have uploaded the full version of the MV, you just have to look for it. I think the people in your livesteam weren't saying not to watch the MV, they were just saying you need to look for the full version. "Dazzling Girl" is one of my favorite of SHINee's Japanese songs and my favorite version is any of their concert performances. This is a Shawol favorite because SHINee are saying that we are are all dazzling girls in their eyes. :D

  • @milindawilson9175
    @milindawilson9175 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    "Your Number" was released in 2015, and it's another one of SHINee's Japanese songs. You should now check out a live performance of "Your Number" from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul from 2015. You will get to hear what the song sounds like in Korean. Plus, there is a special audience interaction part at the end of their live performances of this song that you should see. (I won't spoil it; I will let you see for yourself.) This is one of SHINee's classics, but a lot of the time new Shawols aren't really aware of most of SHINee's Japanese songs. Japanese songs and albums aren't usually promoted outside of Japan, so unless you follow them closely you may not even know when they release a new Japanese song or album if you're not in Japan. Kpop companies have to partner with Japanese producers and promoters in order to promote in Japan, so Japanese MVs are released by Japanese companies. Japanese copyright rules and laws are more strict than other countries, which makes it more difficult to react to these songs. That is why Japanese songs often have lower view counts and are more likely to get copyright strikes, etc. Unless, like this MV, they happen to be released by the Korean company. You should check out the "Your Number (White version)," regular MV sometime. Although, because it was released by SHINee's Japanese music producers, you will have to watch it on your own time. It's only been uploaded by a Japanese fan, and it will probably give you copyright issues if you try to react to it.

    To help explain what is happening in SHINee's "Tell Me What to Do" MV, the members are all playing a group of friends, which also includes the girl. How I interpret the story, is that they all have been friends with this girl for a very long time and Taemin has always been in love with her, but unfortunately, what you see is that she is in love with Minho and they are dating. However, Taemin is super jealous and his jealousy has gotten to the point where he can no longer hide his anger and disappointment -- that's why you see him acting kind of crazy and really angry. That's why we see him getting drunk and silently watching Minho and the girl with that seething, jealous look on his face. It is also why he crazily picks up the gun and waves it around like he is drunkenly joking with everyone and making bad choices. It's supposed to be about a group of teenagers/young 20-something guys hanging out together and partying in an abandoned warehouse or construction site, etc. We see them having fun riding around in the car together, but if you notice, Taemin is sitting there jealously watching Minho and the girl and wishing it was him who she was in love with. I interpret the floating guns as a metaphor, where Taemin is surrendering to everything and he is struggling to figure out how to cope with all his feelings, etc. We see Minho and Taemin get in a fight. Minho is essentially saying, "Hey man, it's not my fault she is in love with me and not you," etc. Minho always writes his own rap section in SHINee's songs, so the rap was given that flow for a very specific reason. It is meant to be completely different than the rest of the song because it represents the anger and frustration he is feeling at that moment. (You should really look up the lyrics in order to see what the song is about.) The song is called "Tell Me What To Do" because the rest of the members are pretty much saying, "Tell me what to do? What should I do to fix the problems in our friendship and how do we go back to the way we used to be?", etc. It's a coming-of-age story about friendship and the things that can happen in someone's life that can cause a rift between friends. In the end, we see Taemin drop the lighter, and some say the lighter is what catches the car on fire, symbolizing the end to their youthful innocence. But we also see Minho and the girl -- who is played by well-known actress Han So Hee -- get in the car and when Minho turns the key to start the car it blows up because we see the gas line has been cut, or something has been tampered with. Some say Taemin is so jealous that he blows up the car thinking that if he can't have the girl, then he doesn't want anyone to have her. However, he didn't consider the fact that Minho might also be in the car with her. So, he also kills Minho. It is speculated that's why Taemin looks so shocked right after we see the car catch fire is because he realizes what he has just done. Which is now thought to be connected to Minho's solo "Heartbreak" MV storyline. In his "Heartbreak" MV we think Minho might be trying to fix the rift between the group and travel back in time to prevent things from happening the way they did, etc. "Tell Me What To Do" came out in 2016 and it was the lead track on SHINee's repackaged 1 and 1 album, which is a partner album to their 1 Of 1 album and title track MV "1 Of 1," which has a retro '90s theme. (BTW: This is the last Korean MV you will see Jonghyun in in the chronology of SHINee MVs. Their next Japanese track "Get the Treasure" is the very last MV as all 5.) The only saving grace to this story is that we know that SHINee is too much of a close-knit group to ever let something like this happen to them for real and, that in terms of SHINee, this story is so far from reality that this would never happen with their friendships. Once again, this was a departure from anything we have ever seen from SHINee before, and it's unlike anything they have ever done as a concept for an MV. But it was exactly SHINee-like in every way. You should really watch a video of SHINee performing this song live on Jonghyun's radio program called "Blue Night." (Search: "Tell Me What To Do Blue Night Radio.") During "Tell Me What To Do" promotions the other SHINee members were guests on the show and Jonghyun had to do double duty that night as both host and guest. This was my favorite performance of "Tell Me What To Do," and not only are their vocals magnificent, but it also shows you a little glimpse into their goofy, fun personalities as well. You should also check out a live performance of "Tell Me What To Do." Because, even though there is no dancing in the MV, this was one of their lead promotional tracks, so they performed it on music programs and in concert. This choreography is so uniquely SHINee. I think you will find a new appreciation for this song, once you see a live performance. :D

    Here are some fun facts about SHINee's "1 of 1" MV: "1 of 1" came out in 2016 and it is the title track on SHINee's 5th full length Korean album. SHINee debuted on May 25, 2008, (5/25). In this MV there were 25 girls. In other words, 5 members + 25 girls = 5/25. All the girls in this MV are models, so that is why they don't really dance, and if you notice, most of the girls are taller than the SHINee members LOL -- but that's OK because it fits the theme of the MV well. Yes, the reason why the MV has this look and feel is because the whole album has a retro '90s theme. For example, in the '90s often the girls that were featured in MVs were well known models and actresses, not backup dancers. The MV was supposed to have that slightly awkward, unpolished look and feel to it because it was part of the retro aesthetic. Also, if you notice, either the time stamp on the MV or the time stamp on the song is exactly 5:25 as well. As someone who was a teenager in the '90s, I can attest to the fact that this whole project is the perfect example of the '90s. Everything, from the look of the set with the all-white background to the clothes everyone wore, to their dance moves, to the video editing and the sound of the song, was all '90s. They even released some of their albums on cassette tape as part of a limited collector's edition to further celebrate the '90s theme. It's amazing how every song SHINee releases is very unique and unlike any other, and yet, every time, no matter what, it always has that very SHINee feel. Take note of the very end scene where you see the members all standing in their suits. It's easy to tell who each members is, even if you don't know SHINee, because this is the order you will see them standing or sitting in for almost everything they do. Onew is the one in the red, Taemin is the one in the yellow, Jonghyun is the one in the blue, Minho is the one in the black and Key is in brown. Even their starting positions in their choreography will often have them standing in this order. You almost never see them in interviews or in press photos, not in that order. Thank Key for all the fashion in this MV. As SM's director of fashion, Key, in consultation with their stylist, was the one who picked out the outfits and styled everyone for this MV, including the models' outfits. And he pulled together the perfect '90s looks. :D (He spent some time in middle school -- before becoming a trainee with SM at around age 14 -- studying in Australia and the U.S. Which is why he is fluent in English and is so into western culture.) I heard Minho say once that he dyed his hair blond for this comeback because his mom told him he should do it. There has only been a handful of times in the past 16 years that Minho has ever dyed his hair any other color besides brown or auburn. And when he has, it doesn't stay that color for more than a few weeks. :D Minho is a lead actor in a lot of K-dramas and movies. So, one of the reasons why I think he doesn't dye his hair as often as other idols, is because of his acting roles. The majority of the roles that he plays are boy next door-type characters or historical dramas, etc. so, he needs to look as average as he can. (Or, at least as average as a guy who was born with model good looks can anyway. LOL) When not working with SHINee he is almost always working on his next drama or movie. Onew sprained his ankle in concert right before they started promoting for this album and he was unable to dance. That is why he was sitting down the whole time in the MV and why there are only 4 of them in the dance breaks. It was several weeks into promotions for this song before Onew was able to participate in the choreography. If you want to see all 5 of them dancing you will have to check out one of their last live comeback stage performances or their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in Seoul stage.

    "End of a Day" was another song that was written and composed by Jonghyun. It was part of his Story Op. 1 album, which was an album created from songs inspired by stories from listeners of Jonghyun's Blue Night radio program that he hosted for 3 years at midnight every night -- from 2015-April 2017. The song was meant to give listeners comfort and healing as they listened to it at the end of a long hard day. The song was inspired by Jonghyun's dog Roo (Byulroo) who was always there waiting for him as a source of comfort and happiness at the end of a long day. The song was written for his fans, and specifically his listeners of his radio show, who would write him messages and tell him about how they were listening to his show after a long hard day of work, etc. In Korean "good job" or "you worked hard" is a VERY common phrase people say almost daily when they get off work. It's similar to how we say "goodbye" to our co-workers as we are leaving or "I'm home" when we get home at night. However, since Jonghyun's passing, these lyrics hold a different meaning now because in his note he left he said, "Please tell me I did well" and "good job" for enduring everything. Which is why you will see that Shawols always end comments about Jonghyun with "You did well." So now we listen to "End of a Day" with this in mind and interpret the lyrics as Jonghyun singing about what he wished someone would say to him. Which leaves us with the message that we should take the time to acknowledge the hard work of everyone we come in contact with and make sure they know how much they are appreciated as often as possible. Even more than 7 years after he passed away, his messages he left within his songs are still resonating and impacting the world. Jonghyun's radio program was really popular and he had a lot of fans. Jonghyun had the perfect personality and voice as a radio DJ and he loved being on the radio. He brought a lot of comfort and healing to his listeners every night. He also got a lot of inspiration from his listeners. He even released 2 albums with songs all based on stories he was told by listeners and guests on his show. We were all sad when he decided to end the show, but he was gearing up for his solo concert tour, as well as activities with SHINee, etc. and he could no longer devote the time or energy to be there every night. (When SHINee was out of the country for concerts or promotions, etc. Jonghyun would often have to fly back to Korea each night just to host the show. So, it was understandable when he decided to stop hosting, he was becoming worn out.) If you ever want to see Jonghyun's radio show, just search TH-cam for "Jonghyun Blue Night." You can find clips and even full episodes with English subs. MY favorite episodes were when Jonghyun's friends were on the program, but all the episodes are great and his words are a source of comfort, support and healing still today. It's totally worth checking out in order to get to really see what Jonghyun was like. Jonghyun, you did well, our amazing poet, artist, inspiration.

    SHINee's "Married to the Music" MV is telling the story of a group of guys who thought they were attending a fun party. (Their outfits and hair are supposed to look like they are dressed up for a retro Halloween party.) However, little do they know what they are in for. (I kind of think of it like the movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show".) The girl in the wedding dress, who is presumed to be a little crazy and obsessed with the SHINee members, is collecting the best body parts from each of the members to create her ideal man. She burned Minho's head because what she wanted was his body. She used fire because Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma" because of his passion for life and sports and his need to always win. Minho has the best body of the group so, she took Minho's body, Key's head, Onew's nose, Taemin's eyes and Jonghyun's lips (for obvious reasons. LOL). Then at the end, she spliced them all together and formed her perfect guy. If you notice, in the end credits we see a person that has been created from all of the members' body parts, which is supposed to be the guy the girl created. In other words, music is a very fickle girl and she controls your life by picking and choosing the best parts and mashes them together to create the perfect song. LOL. The reason why those drinks are teal blue color, and why Taemin turns teal when he drinks it, is because SHINee's official color is pearl aqua. You will see blue/green/aqua colored things to do with the SHINee members. As you can see, there's a supernatural element to this story. No one dies in the MV. They are all still walking and interacting and singing and dancing, etc. She is taking their body parts, but they aren't dying. In SHINee's iconic SM museum archives you can even see the rubber eyes, nose and lips, etc. that were created from molds of the members actual body parts and used as props in this MV. We now know where Key gets his sassy personality from because we discover he is full of lemons. And when she takes Onew's nose we see Onew's blood is orange like nacho cheese because he is known for his cheesy jokes, as the "old man" of the group, etc. LOL. There isn't a dance practice for this song, but if you want to see the choreography better you should watch the performance version MV and/or, even better, a live comeback stage. There is a lot more to this dance than what you see in the MV. And if you check out their comeback stages you will see their bow ties look like bats and some of their hats have witches fingers, etc. (Everytime they performed this song on music shows their outfits are different, so it's worth checking out more than one performance to see just how fun their outfits and stages were.) You're right, everything's supposed to have that fun, campy horror/comedy look and feel. You should see the behind the scenes footage of them filming the MV, th-cam.com/video/UlycRiRdPwc/w-d-xo.html. This will give you an even better look at just how much detail and work went into everything to do with "Married to the Music" and why it's such an iconic song. SHINee's "Married to the Music" was released in 2015 and it's supposed to be fun and upbeat, because they are "Married to the Music." "Married to the Music" is considered a Halloween must watch within the fandom and most of us make this MV part of our Halloween tradition every year. And it's about as iconic of a cult classic as "Rocky Horror Picture Show," as well. However, this song and MV came out in August, nowhere near Halloween. Halloween isn't really a big deal in Korea and it has only been in the last few years that Koreans have started to celebrate Halloween by holding costume parties. Halloween in Korea is pretty much a western culture transplant. But, the middle of summer is horror season in Korea. Koreans say they like to watch scary movies and shows in the summer because it gives them chills, which cools them down when it is hot. So, that's probably why they came up with this concept for "Married to the Music" as an August comeback theme. SHINee really are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee were designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to come up with a style and sound that has never been done before. And yet it still always ends up feeling and sounding like SHINee. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything, there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will NEVER hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album. The industry looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. Case in point, SHINee is known as one of the very first groups to ever dress up in full costume for Halloween. They first did it for a fan meeting in 2013 and then they decided to show up to SM's annual company dinner in costume. Which is what gave Lee SooMan (the founder of SM) the idea to hold a costume party. Now SM is known for holding one of the largest costume parties every year. (The event is like the Met Gala of Halloween parties, and is usually attended by some of the biggest name celebrities in Korea.) As part of the party there is a costume contest and, in the past, the person with the best costume has won an all expenses paid vacation trip. (SM Entertainment members are known for being some of the most competitive. They are the ones who go all out when it comes to dressing up -- always trying to outdo each other. So it's a pretty steep competition among the top contenders every year. And each year they have to come up with something better than what anyone did the year before.) Key is very competitive when it comes to fashion, costumes included, and the last time he attended the Halloween party in 2018 he won. He came as Voldemort from Harry Potter. He hired a team of famous TV and movie makeup artists to make him look like the real character. Check out, th-cam.com/video/rUsHzXS66Aw/w-d-xo.html, to see just how amazing his costume really was. And in 2021 -- which was the first year the SHINee members were able to attend since the pandemic canceled the event the previous year, and this was the first year since Onew, Key and Minho were discharged from the military -- Onew kept the tradition going. Onew dressed up as The Penguin from Batman for SM's Halloween House Party, and he received the award for best dressed. You have to see how spoton his costume was as well, th-cam.com/video/jyLqElC3t0Q/w-d-xo.html. SHINee are the reason why Kpop groups and artists now dress up in costume and film special dance practice videos or do special things, etc. for Halloween. SHINee are such influencers that, one year when Key dressed up like Ronald McDonald from McDonald's and Onew was Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), they created such a buzz and went viral worldwide that Key says McDonald's sent him a giant stack of coupons for free meals as a thank you for the advertising.

    Jonghyun's vocals were great in the MV for "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)," but just wait until you see him perform it live, you will understand what we mean when we say SHINee live is on a whole other level. :D What I love about his live performances is that he even covers the rap parts himself. Like all of Jonghyun's solo songs, "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" -- which was his solo debut on his Base album in 2015 -- was wrote by him, so the whole vibe of this song was designed by him. And that is why he was so highly respected as a singer/songwriter and why he was one of the first and very few Idols to really be considered a true songwriter and composer. He was a genius when it came to making music and he chose very carefully which songs he wanted to release himself and what kind of message he wanted to give. He never released music just because he thought it would be a hit, but everything he did was meticulously planned and designed by him to make an impact regardless of whether it would be a hit from the the moment it was released. All his music had a deeper message. He was a true artist in all aspects of the music industry. For example, the image of the stairs in the MV is meant to remind us of the famous "Relativity" drawing and sculpture, etc. by M.C. Escher. It's a very famous image and is used as a symbolic metaphor in the song. It depicts a world in which the normal laws of gravity do not apply. Or in Jonghyun's case, a "Crazy" world where the normal rules with love are turned on its head, which is why he allows himself to give in to his "Guilty Pleasure." The spider I interpret as a black widow and it was meant to represent how she is controlling him and driving him crazy. He is stuck in her beautiful web, etc. She is his guilty pleasure. On a side note: Jonghyun was pretty much ripped like that since debut. As you are starting to realized, all the members of SHINee have amazing bodies. When you think about it, they all have to be that fit in order to be able to do all that they do -- to be able to sing live and sound flawless while performing the choreography that they do, and to do it for hours straight, makes it so they are required to stay in shape. SHINee are known for the fact that they always sing live, so they have to be in top condition in order to dance like they do while maintaining stable vocals the whole time. That is why in concert they can perform really intense choreography for 4 or 5 songs in a row while singing live and continue to sound even better than their studio recordings from beginning to end, and then hold a conversation with the audience imminently after and still not look or sound out of breath. You did well Jonghyun, you will forever be the best poet/artist, with a beautiful spirit that we were privileged to have a chance to get to know. As mentioned, the featured rapper who is part of Jonghyun's studio version of "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" is Iron, who, at the time, was a popular newer artist who became famous as a contestant on the Korean rap completion show called Show Me the Money. So, being featured in Jonghyun's song was sort of his big break in the industry. But Iron got into some serious trouble with the law after first being caught with drugs and was suspended from the industry not long after working on this MV. This is about the only time you will see Iron in anything, and other than releasing his first and only album about a year after this, his legal troubles only got worse and his career ended. Iron died a few years ago.

    "Danger" is Taemin's first single off his solo debut album Ace from 2014, so this was Taemin when he was 21 years old. If you think he was amazing in the MV, just wait until you see it live. You need to see him perform "Danger" at SHINee's SHINee World Concert 2014 in Japan, th-cam.com/video/aNNM4fh7ekA/w-d-xo.html. Taemin has been a solo artist for more than half his career. (2024 was his 10th anniversary as a solo artist.) He was one of the very first SM artists who was still part of an active group to go solo. Yet another thing that SHINee became the first in. Just think, he went from being made fun of because people said he "couldn't sing", to becoming one of the top male solo artists that is considered the blueprint for what it takes to be a successful artist. And he did it all at such a young age that he was still among one of the youngest solo artist to debut at the time. As you can see from "Danger," Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson for a reason. The concept for "Danger" was supposed to give you that MJ feel. That's why this was his debut single instead of the album's title track "Ace." Michael Jackson has been one of Taemin's idols since he was a little boy. Believe me, it is not lost on him, SM or, least of all, fans, that he dances like Michael Jackson. But that's not the only reason why he is considered the Korean MJ. Taemin just has something special and his whole aura and being on stage radiates awe inspiring magnificence. He just embodies what it means to be a performer, similar to what made MJ so unique, special and legendary. If you want to really see Taemin pay tribute to Michael Jackson, just search "Taemin and Michael Jackson" or "SHINee and Michael Jackson" on TH-cam. There are several clips of multiple performances where Taemin and SHINee have performed tribute dances and participated in performances with Michael Jackson songs. Prior to becoming a trainee at the age of 11, Taemin had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Kpop solo artist Bi Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee in 2008 at the age of 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee. Therefore, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard than himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. This dance was choreographed by Ian Eastwood, a well known young American choreographer, who I believe is right around the same age as Taemin -- this was Ian's first Kpop collaboration -- and I am sure he choreographed this dance to fit Taemin's natural dance-style not the other way around. Taemin didn't just learn this choreography he merely perfected it LOL. If you enjoyed Taemin's dancing, you should check out his dance practice video for "Danger", you will get to see Ian actually teaching a little of the choreography and Taemin and him dancing together. Also, check out an interview with Ian on Steezy's TH-cam Channel, "SHINee Choreographer Reacts to Taemin, SHINee ...", to hear what it was like working on this choreography and how impressive he thinks Taemin and SHINee are, etc. He says when he was designing this dance SM kept coming back to him asking him to make it more difficult, and he was worried because he wasn't sure Taemin would be able to sing and pull off the moves. Although, he had no idea how skilled Taemin really was. However, as you are starting to discover, the way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. The more you watch Taemin dance, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be uniquely Taemin. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D It's said that if Taemin's dance looks easy then it's actually really difficult and if it looks extremely difficult then it's even harder than you imagine. No one moves the way he does and even his backup dancers struggle to keep up with him. Choreographers still say he is constantly asking them to make the choreography more difficult and he is never satisfied until the difficulty level is off the charts. As Taemin has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. He's also one of the only idols who have debuted in 3 different Kpop generations -- second generation with SHINee in 2008, third generation as a solo artist in 2014 and now fourth generation as a member of SuperM in 2019. You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search TH-cam you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts. Taemin doesn't have to try to grab your attention, he just exudes command of the stage. That is what makes him one of the top performers and why he is so popular. Yes, he has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him. He is the idol that most choreographers dream of getting the chance to work with. "Danger" is timeless. That's kind of what SHINee is known for. As SM's experimental boy group SHINee are trendsetters and trail blazers. They are expected to create songs with styles and sounds that have never been seen or heard before and yet have a timeless appeal. (Just think of SHINee's debut song "Replay," which is considered one of the best debut songs of all time because it's so timeless that it never goes out of style.) And that even translates to the members' solo work. That is what makes SHINee so popular and why they are still one of the top groups and artists in the industry even after more than 16 years. And, as the other members of SHINee say, "Taemin can wear anything and pull off any look and it always looks good on him." Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. Not only is Taemin an amazing dancer but, as you just heard -- because he is a member of SHINee -- he is also a top tier vocalist, who can sing live while performing intricate choreography like this and sound even better live than the studio recording. With more than 16 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots and are all active as a group and as soloists.

    SHINee's "Lucky Star" is a fan favorite and it's usually one of the last songs they perform at their Japanese concerts. To really appreciate the song you need to see them perform it in concert. I hope you will do some more reactions to their live performances, or better yet to a full concert. As you are starting to realize, you really need to see and hear all of SHINee's songs performed live. If you think the MVs are good, their live versions are even better.
