Exploring the UK one hike at a time
Hiking Snowdon's Llanberis Path in Extreme Wind & Rain!
I specifically chose to hike Snowdon when the weather was bad so that it would be quiet!
Mission accomplished! I only saw the Army on training exercises and a few other hikers all day!
The wind and rain at the summit was relentless, and the hike was tough, but it made it even more rewarding when I got to the top.
I parked at the Snowdon Mountain Railway car park (postcode LL55 4TU).
Thanks for watching!

I know it's a Mountain and not a hill, but Pen Y Fan from the Pont ar Daf Car Park was giving me Mam Tor vibes! (there is limited free car parking further along the A470 in the Storey Arms car park) Pont ar Daf Car Park postocde - LD3 8NL (£7.50 to park all day unless you are a National Trust member in which case it's free). Join me on a recent circular hike up Moel Siabod. I got to the top just before sunset, wild camped and left at sunrise. The weather was poor, sunrise looked dissapointing at first, but after descending a little way down the mountain, I was gifted with some AMAZING sunrise views! Parking for this route - Gatesgarth Farm Parking - CA13 9XA £4 per day. This was a stunning route, taking in Scale Force, Red Pike, High Stil and High Crag. The route down was a bit slippy when the temperatures dropped so I would definitely recommend using an alternative way down if the conditions aren't perfect. Beautiful walk guys ❤🇬🇧👌
Fantastic, you have beautiful views regardless of cloud😊❤❤❤👌🇬🇧🇬🇧belta shot of the crevice to the lake😜👊
The fierce weather makes this hike even more intense and adventurous. I enjoy following your adventurous mountain journey 💖
Awesome video pal! Absolutely love the drone footage. Stunning camping spot. I usually camp in teh brecon beacons but I definitely need to get to this location. Looks stunning. New sub from us mate!
Thanks mate! Was a tough one this, but great location! The sunrise on the way down once I got below the cloud was lush. Will have a look at your vids for some recommendations of places to camp in the beacons and will return the favour.
Really great video! Pen Y Fan is a stunning spot, and you captured the views so beautifully. The hike from Pont ar Daf Car Park looks straightforward but still rewarding with those steep sections. Thanks for sharing the tips about parking and the alternative routes, super helpful!
Thank you for watching!! It’s very much appreciated! Pen Y Fan is gorgeous. I’ve only been once but I bet it looks amazing in snow! I’d like to get back there over Winter to see !
What an incredible challenge! Hiking Snowdon in such extreme wind and rain must have been tough but so rewarding. Choosing bad weather for a quieter hike is such a bold move. Well done for pushing through and making it to the summit! 🌧🏔
Thanks mate. Appreciate you taking the time to watch! Will head over to your channel shortly and take a look. Thanks again 😄🙌🏼
Wow beautiful view 😍 New subscriber friend 👉🔔✅ Subscribe Done 👍
Thank you! Really appreciate you watching and commenting! And thanks for the subscribe! Will head over to your channel and do the same,
Nice❤❤❤new friend 🤝
Great account of the conditions available on Yr Wyddfa. Nicely done sir.
@@runtothetrails thank you kindly! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
@@Hiking.and.mountains been up there a few times for UTS great route
@@runtothetrails hopefully you had better weather 😂
Breathtaking footage 😊 when did you go?
Thank you for watching! We went in April 2024.
Great vid 👏🏽
Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Thank you!
Hi 👋. That was a extremely level hike, but well done to you 💪. Amazing view and that was really good challenge and experience. See you soon. 👍
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Natalia!
Absolutely brilliant mate. Who needs views when it means you can have the summit of Snowdon to yourself. 🤣 Very atmospheric. That rain cover is probably somewhere over France with those winds! 🤣 Well done mate, hard to keep going when it’s that miserable. All the best mate. 😀🥾⛰🏴
Cheers Dave! It was a brutal but very rewarding one. Wouldn’t surprise me if it crossed the channel and entered France tbf 😂 hope you’re well mate.
Thanks for sharing mate. Sorry about the weather 😢 Never made a video, but I’ve been up there 6 times, different routes everyone, but have always been blessed with good weather & amazing vistas. Keep the videos coming. Take care ATB Dave
Cheers Dave, so you’re the one who stole all the good weather from me ay? 😂😂 what was your favourite route? I really want to do the Rhyd Ddu Path when the weather is better, and i’d love to tackle Crib Goch one day! Thanks for watching mate.
@@Hiking.and.mountains favourite was Crib Goch, for obvious reasons. Also enjoyed the Pyg track, but Pen y pass car park is a nightmare to get in. Booking is all online now I believe? You can a hopper bus up from Llanberis. I also did a route up Ranger path, round the ridge & down Rhyd Ddu. There’s a pub at bottom on road 😊 On the Ranger path you get an excellent view of the Nanttle Ridge 👌 If you have the weather of course 😁 ATB Dave
@@davebirds5667 thanks for the tips Dave! It’s always a bonus to have a pub at the bottom ay 😂👌🏼
Another great honest video pal. Sometimes hiking is just as you showed us! Wild, cloud covered, cold and wet! But the joy is in the journey and making it to the top. Thanks for taking us with you.
So true mate. The feeling when you overcome it all and reach the top is amazing. It keeps me coming back! Thank you for watching!
Good stuff mate! What a slog, but you did it! Ive never done the Llanberis path. What's the fun with going up on the train?! 🤦🏻♂️, unless you're physically unable, that is. Gutted about the rain cover 🤦🏻♂️, ill let you know if i find it 🤣👍🏼
Ha, yea keep an eye out for it please mate! I still find it weird there is a cafe at the top 😂🤷♂️ just doesn’t feel right to me 😂🤷♂️ What paths have you done and what was your fave? I’ll deffo go up another route next time! I fancy the Rhyd Ddu Path.
@Hiking.and.mountains I fancy the Watkin route next time, that's supposed to be the most picturesque. I've done Crib Goch 😳, wouldn't do that route again though. Pyg & Miners too.
@@RossInTheWild i’m gagging to do Crib to get it out of my system, but i’d like it to be empty with noone else there, dry and not windy at all… what are my chances of getting all that ay? 😂😂😂
@Hiking.and.mountains well, I've got a video coming out of some raw footage of me doing it in the hottest day of the year but it was absolutely rammed. Then again though mate, I wouldn't have done it in any other weather because one slip and you're gone!!
@@RossInTheWild yea you can’t mess about with the weather there. I think when I do it, i’ll try and do it really early in the morning on a nice day so it’s a bit quiet.
Hello pal. You put a shift in there😂 Tell me the mountain you're walking next and I'll follow and pick up some free gear. Dji mic and now bag cover😂 Well done mate. Loved it💪💪👌👍
Ahhh man i’m still gutted about that mic 😂 hope someone found it and it went to a good home 😂 next time i’m gonna have to tie everything to me with paracord 😂 cheers for watching mate.
😂😂😂👏👏 My comments lately always dissappear. I've started another channel just to make sure I get to comment. You've had a bad run of weather. Hope it's nice for you next time👌👍 Jamie.
Cheers mate! I do too 😂😂😂 ahhh that’s so annoying about the comments! Is there a way to reach out to youtube and see if they can help? Hope you get it sorted!
@Hiking.and.mountains I sent an email to them but no reply. It's okay with this one as backup. It seems to allow me about 5-10 comments a day and then cuts the rest. I didn't realise for ages. The joys of tech😀👍
Drone footage, absolutely breathtaking too 😍👌🏼👏🏼
Cheers mate 👍
Well done 👏 👍
Thank you! 😁
That's some strong wind 😮
Yea it was pretty brutal up there. Nice and quiet though 😂
@Hiking.and.mountains yeah, I bet you didn't have that 45 minute wait like most of the time 🤣👌🏼
@@RossInTheWild honestly, that was the plan. I have wanted to do it for ages but hate crowds, so I always said i’d do it on a weekday when the weather is rubbish 😂
@Hiking.and.mountains that's the problem these days, it's become such a gathering point and also with the recent surge in people climbing mountains. 🤦🏻♂️
One of my favourite mountains, great job mate 😍👍🏼
Stunning place isn’t it. Cheers mate!
@Hiking.and.mountains first one I ever did and got it all, strong winds, blistering rain and then afterwards after a break at the hut at the top, lovely sunshine 😁😍⛰️
Great video mate, but as comments said above, I've just decided to go for the Phoxx 2, mainly because I got it for £63 😍
Bargain for how much tent you get really isn’t it! I think I am going to get one as well!
@Hiking.and.mountains it's on Milletts mate, but you have to type in brand20 for an extra 20% off making it £63. But they're flying off, so hopefully you can get one 👍🏼
Cracking little tent, but for 400gms more the Phoxx 2 V2 is a better option! ✌️
Funny you should say that, i’ve been hovering over the buy button today on the Phoxx 2v2 as it’s available again! The extra space would be very welcome!
@@Hiking.and.mountains Honestly, once you've spent a night in the Phoxx 2, you'll never want to sleep in the Phoxx 1 ever again! I spent 4 nights in the 1 and it was pretty frustrating trying to do my 'admin' A few months later I spent 5 nights in my Phoxx 2, the difference is night and day! 👍
Wow!! Amazing view 😍🔥
Love wast water
Me too! It’s proper dramatic isn’t it!
Nice mate 💪🏼
Thanks mate!
@@Hiking.and.mountains no probz 💪🏼💪🏼
Looks amazing. From the way you're breathing, it was quite a trek to the summit ❤
Yea I struggled that day! My bag was soooooooo heavy 😂 packed way too much 😂
Never heard of this one! Thanks for sharing.
I'm not sure how popular the brand is outside of the UK, but they make good equipment for great prices.
Lol I hate people too 😅 Great video and good taste in music. ❤
Thank you! Glad you like the music!
2:00 who is your music provider? Love this tune by Michael Shynes ❤
Hi :) I use Artlist for the music on the videos. Great song isn’t it . Thanks for watching.
Amazing video! The landscape looks out of this world. ❤ Love the folk music 🎶 Keep at it, my friend!
Every mountain top could tell a story about this. Can't have it all.
Very true! I think that’s part of the allure……
Ooof, maybe next time ❤❤❤
Amazing ❤
Thanks for taking the time to watch! We really appreciate it :)
Wow!
Beautiful sunrise that morning! Thanks for watching mate 👌🏼
Nice view ❤🎉
I've definitely had worse ones in my time lol
Incredible walk!!! Beautiful!
It's such a beautiful place. I love walking there! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I'll be sure to head over and check out some of your adventures this afternoon! :)
Hello mate. As always brilliant video. You walk and talk well👌 It's a busy place😁 Great seeing you this way. Very nicely filmed. Good music on the vid. Good bag. Good humour. I must try Mam Tor soon. Looking forward to your next one😉👍
Cheers mate, Hope you are well? I have only done Mam Tor up the side, I didn't even realise there was a nice easy route up it until the 2nd time I did it lol. Not sure where I am going next...hopefully the lakes this month to bag a few more Wainwrights with the Mrs!
Oh what a shame
Wasn't the first time and definitely won't be the last time lol
🤣🤣
Fantastic video and music my friend 👌😍. It’s my pleasure to sub your channel my friend 😊🙌
Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your kind words. I appreciate the sub 🙌🏼
👍
Is absolutely beautiful there 🤩 looks like you have fantastic hikes guys 👍. Really love it Pen Y Fan, popular but beautiful view on the top. 👍
Thank you for taking the time to watch it! It really is stunning up there! I need to try and get up for a mid week sunrise or sunset!
Lovely vid, would love to do an easy one like this (I'm old) when I come over.
Don't worry, there's a few easy ones in the lake district when we go up!
Hi guys, cracking video as always. I’m like you hoards of people in the mountains does my head in. I go for the solitude. If you want to do Snowdon go during the months when the train isn’t running. It’s that that brings the masses up there. 🤣 I’m hoping to get back in to the lakes during next week. All the best guys, have a great weekend. 😀🥾⛰
Hi Dave, I hope you are well mate? What walks are you hoping to do when you get back up to the lakes? (nice and quiet ones I bet) lol. That's a good point about the train! Hope you have a great time in the lakes when you go. Look forward to seeing your videos.
@@Hiking.and.mountains Hi mate. I’m hoping to do Mellbreak and Hen Combe. Should be pretty quiet during the week. If I want real solitude I go in to the Forest of Bowland. I can walk for hours and miles there and not see a sole. 👍
Nice walk up there , great views and moody sky like it! Good visit to Craig Gwaun Taf at the end! It’s a beautiful mountain on a weekday evening, not in the summer months to beat the crowds, if you get a chance to revisit. I’m the same as you I massively overpack but have that anxiety of needing something lol. Occasionally I do a hike were I use everything in my bag and all layers and feel smug after that lol . Best wishes
I bet it's absolutely stunning at Sunset on a weekday! I'll definitely go again, but will 100% aim for the quieter times and maybe a quieter way up like you did! Ha.... I am yet to use everything in my bag but I always feel like I might lol. Have a good weekend!
