The purpose of this channel is two-fold. First to promote some of my favorite songs, some of my own but mostly covers of some of my favorite composers and performers. These videos are far from 'professional', as I still struggle somewhat with the technology of recording and would encourage others who are interested to listen to other covers.
Secondly, that those who stumble across this channel will be introduced to some song writers and performers who are unknown to them and will be inspired to research them further.

Rocksalt and Nails
A heart felt song by the late Utah Philips. Many great versions of this song exist on line.

The Huron Carol
มุมมอง 409 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Another Christmas song, in fact, this is said to be the first carol ever written in Canada. Written by a Jesuit missionary to the Huron Indians around 1641. Translated into French in the 1800s and later into English ,it describes the Christmas story to a people who have no concept of shepherds, mangers, angels or any of the many Christmas icons so familiar to us.
Urge for Going
มุมมอง 2114 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
A song by Joni Mitchell about the coming of winter. I always do this song around the fall of the year.
Christmas Must Be Tonight
มุมมอง 4319 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Time to find some Christmas spirit....🤔 This is a very simple and tasteful song by The Band
It's a hard Life
มุมมอง 10121 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
A Nancy Griffith tune which is still relevant today. With the rise of right wing hatred and division occurring around the world, we would do well to heed these words.
Lone Pine Hill
มุมมอง 1621 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Written by Justin Townes Earle. Apparently during the Civil War, it was not unusual for soldiers to simply get tired of fighting and go home, otherwise known as desertion. Lack of resources often prevented the army from tracking them down and they just went back to their lives as before the war.
That'll Be Me
มุมมอง 60หลายเดือนก่อน
Written By Kevin Welch. See a great duet of this song on TH-cam with Kelly Willis
A House Where Nobody Lives
มุมมอง 136หลายเดือนก่อน
A Tom Waites song. Even without the mistakes, nobody can do it like Tom.
Casey's Last Ride
มุมมอง 107หลายเดือนก่อน
An early song by the late Kris Kristofferson. I love the descriptive language and the pictures he creates.
The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
มุมมอง 49หลายเดือนก่อน
One of my favorite war remembrance songs by the great Eric Bogel. A couple notes about the song; He refers to April in the last verse. April 25 is Anzac Day in Australia, similar to our Remembrance Day in Canada Also, to 'waltz your matilda' is bacically to carry your pack, as a hobo would his napsack, as you wander around the country side. In an effort to get something posted before Remembranc...
Choices
มุมมอง 438 หลายเดือนก่อน
A classis from George Jones. Written by Michael Curtis and Billy Yates and first recorded by Yates in 1997. Another song I can identify with...
Another great choice.
Thanks
Keep up❤
🎉🎉🎉🤘🤘🤘
I love this tune! R.I.P. Nancy Griffith, nicely done!
Thank you. One of my many favourite Nancy songs.
@calderbw yes, I love everything she did. Only got to see her live once but it was beautiful.
You had a good groove going here!
Yah, I’ve stopped trying to get perfection in these recordings and just play them like I normally do, warts and all...😏
Sounds great, love the vocals & keep it up.👍
golden years
A term some young guy came up with!

Very lovely <3
Pretty good , gotta say . 😅
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Thank you for posting this. I very much enjoy your videos.
Brian, he was my neighbor when he was in Montreal. Met him in a local grocers about 20 years ago. He couldn't have been more charming, gracious and kind. He asked my name and clasped my hand. Will never forget. He lived an extremely spartan existence as the buddhist he was. His solitude was palpably sad. He was in a place where no one else could go, you just sensed that. And now I wonder why you have not posted any music in such a long time. This saddens me greatly. Hope to hear from you and take good care.
Thanks for this great story. Love all of his songs. and yes, i haven't posted for a while. Guilty of procrastination, i guess. Will try to get something up this week.
@@calderbw Good to hear from you. My favorite Cohen song by far is Bird on The Wire. Are you still in Fairhaven?
@@lauriedujardin2939 Moved back about 7-8 yrs ago. Can't remember if you were ever here..
No problem here. We were n the back side of the storm track (west of it). Thanks for the thought.
thinking of you in Fiona...be well and safe and warm
super catchy melody as well; you should write more!
Thanks. Very encouraging. Too busy doing meaningless stuff...😞
really original! love the lyrics
Wow; this is a very powerful and haunting song! Great job. I think the answer to the question depends on the person's depth of perception, which could be anywhere from nil all the way up to psychic, if I understand correctly. I prefer this backdrop by the way, though I would add some more wood.
backdrop is my shop. Don't do much work there these days, but play a lot of music😉
@@calderbw thinking of you in Fiona...stay safe.
One of the saddest songs. Thanks for lending a voce to the voiceless.
What joy to hear you sing my favorite GL song...I love it!
Really lovely this. I still remember listening to that album...one of the best. Was it 3 discs?
I think so. The first of the ‘Circle’ albums
Actually I think it is on the third Circle recording, a double cd.
Beautiful!
Thanks Laurie
Nice, Brian. Good old Neil Young always does the right thing. I have never used Spotify.
Nice! You really get the sentiment.
Touched my soul...tears
Thanks. A good song always has meaning for other people and I’m sure many can relate to this.
Brian Vartigans from NS
Super! I’m not familiar with that one. Who’s the artist?
Brian, The more I listen to this the more I love it. The guitar is especially beautiful, puts me in mind of Gordon Lightfoot. I will always be thinking of you more than you know.
Thanks again. We were in Tofino for a wedding last year and we drove through your home town. Been a long time...
Brian, is this your own composition? I think it's great It's so iconic of down east, you should get it out there. Great sound on here as well.
Laurie Dujardin Yes I wrote this quite a few years ago during a trip to Newfoundland. It was easy because the story was basically told to me by a local fisherman and I just sort of wrote it down.
Laurie Dujardin Experimenting with video recording.😏
At last we meet up on here! The other song is also good but this one just has that extra spark in the melody/hook and overall composition. @@calderbw
Laurie Dujardin Thanks. Have so other covers on TH-cam as well in a ‘live’ playlist. You should be able to access it but can’t tell you how...😏
