This is a lovely video. On the assault on layers, I would say more isn't always worse. Painting everything on one layer is indeed a better way to get closer to traditional, but a Layer for the eyes will always be safer and less destructive (especially if you painstakingly name your layers every time *kneeling*). I especially like to have my highlights and shadows on different layers as I just cannot commit to my first options. I also cannot have outlines and fills on the same layers, it's just sinful. But I agree with everything else, death to airbrush and smudge.

1:22 for this problem if u use CSP or paint tool sai you can click ctrl+shift (or just shift? I forgot) and click on the object in your piece you want to find. It'll automatically take you to that layer. It won't work if you have something on top of that object. Example if you have an overlay layer of a airbrush stroke right on top of the object you want to find it will select that overlay layer instead, but it still help and hey if you catch something early ypu wouldn't have to go through 200 of layer of something😂

Somehow I genuinely want to get better at drawing but I can't and I don't know why. I have tried everything I can to be a patient artist and take time to learn, develop and grow but it is just difficult and feels like it's impossible. Please what do you advice that I do and I wouldn't mind sharing some of my works. Great video watching from Nigeria 🇳🇬

I’m so glad TH-cam recommended your channel! You are so right about finding your style. It sort of chooses you because it is born from what you like and what you want to keep doing over and over again.

Study the fundamentals and the art from your favorite artists. Study them constantly and as much as possible without burnout. Learn to relax but also utilize your love for it as much as possible. Never feel the need to get it right away because great art isn’t supposed to be achieved as fast as possible, if it was it wouldn’t be special, least of all to you trying to achieve it. ❤❤

yesss having creative friends is so important, even if they're preferred medium is different because for me, seeing them do their thing and be passionate and present really inspires me to branch out and try different mediums as well which I feel helps me grow and I'm sure it's the same for them as well ㅠ.ㅠ (sidetone: really love how the interviews were edited together! very cool!!)
