He is not a philosopher, not a historian, not a sociologist, not an anthropologist, not a political theorist, not a biologist, not a historiographer, not a psychologist. He merely " stimulates" the intellectually lazy people of the present. What he says don't make sense. In order to write a history, you need to clarify your metaphysical viewpoint Harrari merely prattles. He is the idol of the stupid masses.

The idea that the world is moving away from democracy back to dictatorships may be more frightening than AI taking over. The masses are swayed by information not knowing what it’ll lead to. Simplicity should be key, if a person feels like she/he wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, don’t wish for much change in that place.

Seious AI robots with the capability of being weopnized and could take down a human should be hardwired with ethernet. For example AI that would mine diamonds for us, or do other work which has been enslaving people, or possibility building civilizations on asteroids, or mars. I believe they should have an ethernet cord attached to them so they cannot be hacked using wifi and controlled by someone who has I'll intent. Also, the ethernet cord would act as a leash and if the got off their leash, then it would shut down the bot. Also, I think they should be hooked into a solar power supply which is connected to a computing system underground. Not hooked up to traditional electrical grids. In the future, because with advancements, if the grid shut down, it could leave a window for something to be manipulated and or cause serious issues in multiple different ways. The leash system would work best tho to ensure safety of robots doing manual labor. Additionally, humans and beings should not be in the vicinity of the bots to ensure safety and stay outside of their leash range. The computer system should be underground that runs the robots and is connected to the ethernet cords ( leashs) this would give people safe access to do repairs to the computing system at a safe distance. Also, a kill switch and unplug each robot while doing work on them. I believe we will have to make safety measures similar to this if bots get released to the general public. I have a lot of ideas for wifi robots as well that could act as safety measures.

how do you "control" AI? same way we control our brains by splitting them down the middle. build an AI pair of 2 genders, one patriarchal, one matriarchal. . with 4 hemispheres of LLM. two male left hemisphere LLM and two female right hemisphere LLM , because women are always right.

    • @Penaming

why are we able to talk to ourselves? because we have 2 LLMs one left brain hemisphere, one right, one male one female. therefore we become conscious.

Which one is powerful,Religion or Science? First of all STOP AMHARA GENOCIDE!! Today,Ethiopians are once again paying attention to their culture & got together to celebrate Meskel,or the day assigned for finding of '' the true cross..on which JESUS was crucified two thousand Yeats ego. And I have been thinking about some stories in the Bible & the principles of Christianity. Let's talk about the civilization of ancient Mesopotamia & the people of Babylon .The bible, I think, raises the issue of Religion & Science or civilization on the story of how the Babylonian fall. I am not good at Bible. but the story tells how those who built Babylon start to speak different language & then they rioted & destroyed their wall And Today,I have the opportunity to listen Youval Hariri on You Tube talking about the same issue..on how Science is based on ignorance or how men could learn when they discover how they were ignorant. He said religion is contrary to science & that it teaches all things are known through faith. But,Youval spent most of his time answering questions about Artificial Intelligence & its impact on governance, society & individual rights. When he was asked about his opinion on CONSCIOUSNESS he defined it as a capacity to suffer. But he had also been talking about various kind of governance like authoritarian,Totalitarian,Democratic etc & I hope most people suffer in all of this systems.May be he should also elaborate why religion teaches about the importance of SUFFERING & can see how it can be matched with that make one conscious. And even they debate whether AI suffer like we humans do & whether he,Youval Hariri, would think AI & MAN would merge one day? But,Youval answered that depend on whether AI is a conscious entity or not. I was disappointed by his answer or analysis. He first explained how Man could learn first through suffering, then through ignorance ,& then how he come to be conscious. But the question is How much are we conscious? Why does he think the Bible story about ancient Babylon happened? How much he think what we do today don't leave us at the foot print of Babylonians.? I have been writing on Facebook & Twitter on how Ethiopian politicians & intellectuals manipulated my Mon who is SCHIZOPHRENIC for over three & half decades. My mom is 90 years old now & she is week, illiterate & stressed. My non have been treated as a ROBOT and placed in an environment where she been fumigated by pesticide or OREGANO PHOSPHATES like an insect. She suffered a lot & lost an eye due to stress, malnutrition & the effect of toxins. Why do you,Youval Hariri, think Ethiopian elite, politicians & intellectuals have hectored my mom with toxins, fumigated her with pesticide to make her more neurotic or schizophrenic & what is unique & important about a mentally afflicted patient character.? Now,I think there is something Youval Hariri is ignorant about when he talks about both Man & Machine. Ethiopian politicians have placed more than ten health workers, one doctor among them, in our house to control mother behaviour. The lodgers control my mothers mind through chemicals or toxins & they observe how she eat, interact with people, sleep or perform her routine activities. And this is how Ethiopian politicians run the country or their ethnic based politics, their universities ,the court, the police & military force, the media etc & all these possible through characterizing my mother behaviour, her culture, her health issue to generate stories & spread them throughout the society. And Ethiopian politicians are able to use my mom mind like a computer,a printing machine,a paper & my mom don't understand her ordeal My mother have been lived in such hell for decades. And the world don't care! The world don't care about the consequences! And we are witnessing how the world ignores AMHARA'S GENOCIDE & the destruction of religious, cultural institutions & fmily values. And I am watching my mother suffer, & being ,helpless And if the world leaders couldn't learn about DIPLOMACY through the Bible in the story of Babel..& enjoy watching the destruction of civilization, cities & the livelihood of peoples & lives..I don't think or they understand their environment or say they are conscious. Help me to help my mother. Save our lives

Harari likes to show his wonderful fairness, and so he compares ayatollahs in Iran with rabbis in Israel. There is no similarity whatsoever in their political positions. The Ayatollahs run Iran politically. Israel has never had a rabbi as a political leader. Harari tells us all the time about how important myths are in understanding reality but there is a difference between fiction and non-fiction between lies and truth. Perhaps he should try to stick to the truths and not create myths of his own which accord with his own political prejudices.

I read Infinite which he now claims is something of a farce but you never get that from reading the book. yes, SBF is a farcical character but Lewis somehow manages to take him VERY SERIOUSLY even when he’s making the most absurd probability assumptions of the cuff as if somehow doing math in his brain about existential risks which are beyond calculation. And worse to believe SBF could actually deploy his intelligence and wealth to address said problems. Lewis took and takes SBF very seriously when in reality SBF is a person who no one should have ever taken serious about anything he said or did. He was in the right place at the right time to pull off the fraud he was convicted of which Lewis to this day insists was not the case and that SBF is not a genuine fraudster despite all the evidence to the contrary. Lewis also has the audacity to claim SBF never stole anything, the money was always there and the fact that everyone got their money back somehow proves it. But no one got their crypto back, which is what they lost, not the money they initially invested in crypto. By the time investors had been paid back, crypto had recovered much of its value, and had they received their crypto back, they would have gotten at least 50% more than they did. Lewis follows the story he wants to follow, that he’s interested in, which in the case was SBF himself and Lewis’ fascination with how the world revolved around him as SBF was all things to all people all the time, his hair, his beanbag, his video gaming while talking to investors or other influential people, not because these things actually interested him, but because they painted a picture of the sort of odd ball founder that VCs fall for. And Lewis doesn’t seem to understand, it’s not that all these people were actually interested in SBF, they were only interested in him because other people where and because they heard he had money. Lewis likes to assert that SBF didn’t set out to be a fraud, run a fraud et al, but whether it was his initial intent or not - and only SBF knows - he willfully embraced fraud the first minute he had the opportunity to use other people’s money for his own ends, then he lied about it, lied to everyone he could talk to, obviously lied to Lewis and then out of sheer hubris he lied under oath which really pissed off the judge and resulted in a 25 year sentence when had he plead guilty from day one, he would have ended up with a much shorter sentence. Lewis is a great writer but he is often lazy when it comes to digger a little, bit deeper to find the truth or unveil the facts which he otherwise assumes. After this book, it’s also clear that Lewis is naive and gullible. He spent a lot of time with SBF, and this book over sells it’s protagonist and under sells his audience and present his reader with an image of SBF that rings hollow. No one else is coming to his defense, just Lewis. Readers should find that odd. Rufus lets Lewis completely off the hook in this interview, when it was his role to push him, press him, and present the facts when Lewis distorts them. Lewis thinks there is going to be a second chapter in this story of SBF. I highly doubt it. SBF bought his own press, which went to his head making him think he could do whatever he wanted to do, and for a while he could. While he was calculating existential risks, SBF failed to calculate the probabilistic reality crypto as a highly volatile asset may, was likely to one day experience a down draw with such a significant deviation from the norm, it would be catastrophic and to prepare for said event or be wiped out. I doubt Lewis is placing a bet on SBF now despite insisting this story isn’t over. It’s over! SBF will be in jail for 25 years, and while I tend to find long sentences for white collar crimes not useful and generally inappropriate, I’m not sure 25 years was a sufficient sentence for the biggest financial scandal since Madoff, who got a life sentence.

Not to understand! Just an explanation people may accept. No man can do better by tbeir wits alone or in cooperation with others. History teaches this also. Only pride of opinion, theories, ideas and imagination blind the mind to this. So interesting, i see compassion , but not of any divine revelation. Unless one makes the pantheistic blunder. And there are different kinds. His diagnosis is correct as others. We see this. His revisionisms are his own inventions. But a book needs some distinction to sell. And he is concerned and thinks he has something to say. I respect that. And will listen, too.
