Looking forward to a sunday viewing ❤
I agree about the shark problem. I live in Gladstone and everyone has trouble with sharks here, out wide and even inshore in the harbour, it's full of baby sharks. Some days you can't leave a bait in the water for less than a minute or two and you get sharked. The reef is even worse, constantly moving to get one or two fish then sharks. So much for sharks being endangered.
@@MichaelHarrison-t5s exactly hopefully a change of government and rules and regs may help this worsening issue!
Bait, there's bait in there. That's oarsmen. She's a keeper

Thanks 🙏 mate!
I see you visited Percy Hilton.... paradise on tap.
👌💜💯🏝️
Use chicken and i bet you will get more crabs. I was fishing and crabbing in Karumba in the gulf and no one was getting many crabs so we only put our pots out the last two days we were there and cleaned up using old chicken we brought up from Sydney
@@rhayjhosie7443 👌the good old chicken 🐓 frames are pretty good! 👍
I absolutely love the Bait Station/Esky mounted in the middle of the deck , its perfect guys.
Thanks mate, we designed it and had it custom made for the boat. It works for us! 👌
Hi Eddie and Shez, meant to ask, what does the OBM stand for
@@Lumberhacksteve we wanted a three letter acronym for On-Board Muffdiver so OBM whilst not 100% correct it’s where we landed 👌
Love it mate
Thanks mate, appreciated!
Can you please make a video about your fishfinder setup
Hi Eddie and Snez, Loved the video and the water looked great, hey Snez have you tried one of those Fishing butts that go on the end of the rod, thought it may give you some more leverage rather than under your arm and make it easier to wind and lift at the same time. Keep up the great work and hope to see you both on the road some day. Will be in 1770 next year around Septemberish.
@@Lumberhacksteve thank you. I do have one but left it at home by accident. We have since changed our rods so I can use my gimbal again. So hopefully more manageable. Thanks again for watching and might see you in 1770
Blue ones better
You have told everyone that you break rules with phone road speed in all states is 100 kmh towing anything. i hope no cops watch
Thanks. 1. Speed Limits While Towing • In most Australian states and territories, the default speed limit for vehicles towing a trailer or caravan is the posted speed limit (e.g., 110 km/h). • Exception: Western Australia imposes a maximum towing speed of 100 km/h, regardless of the posted limit. Fairly certain it’s only in WA. We stuck to the posted speed limits in QLD
Fished off Norfolk Island, fantastic
Yeah I have wondered how it would be over there. They run charters?
Only fished high peak and cheviot once a few years ago from yeppoon and did very well, biggest spannos I've ever seen, 2 were 30kg+
Fair old hike from Yeppoon! They are monster Spanish 👌🍻
@OBM1770 yea and the army were doing exercisers so had to 'wide birth' all the ground they were using haha
Living the dream is not about breaking records 🤙
Thanks mate, we certainly didn’t break any this trip 👌😁
Watched it tonight, another fantastic video,,,, looked like the van is pretty dust proof which is a fantastic feature,,,, those big rigs towing are getting good mileage,,,, thanks for another fishing trip ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Love the Chevs & van mate 👌
Air bag the boat trailer mate and shade cloth to protect the boat . Would like to catch up with u guys on your passing through Mackay one day just to say hi and admire your boat
Cheers mate! Will definitely be having shad cloth protection put on. 👌 will be pulling the platey up in the cooler months for a cape trip next year. 🍻
We had a Hut u there at Plumtree back in the 70s it was about opposite the Pub They were the days before any Pro Crabbers except visiting ones and the fishing was unbelievable Heaps of crabs 15-30 minuites from Ramp and caught fish near everywhere you fished a truely magestic place back then and wonderful people
That is definitely something special! Would be very challenging living in there back then. We first visited back in the 90’s before the new ramp. It’s still a special place but like everywhere slowly getting spoilt. Like you said the crabbing would be certainly very good back then. Would love to have experienced that! 👌🙏
Awesome session guys 😂😂😂😂
Thanks Terry ! 👌
That trip into Stanage from the sign looks like beautiful country , my type of country living in the NT Mate. Just the drive in I would be rubber necking at the scenery of the land mate. Love it. Guys you should be getting way way bigger Reds out there , I would continue to sound around while on the move trawling and punch in spots for the Donkey's. Them Reds are just average for that area. Move wider to another 20-30 meters and sound a small pinnacle on flat rubble ground with sign. I probably don't need to mention. But theory is when the land is dry, the bigger fish move wide and deeper. When the land is green and wet the bigger fish move in closer. An Old Pro Fisherman told me this theory when fishing the Barrier Reef or Eastern Sea Board from Fraser Island NTH to the Tip. Its just my advice to catch Donkey Reds that's all and has worked for me Mate. Bro, let ya misses know, life is heaps easier fishing if she pumps and winds on the down stroke ! Trying to wind a fish in as you know is almost impossible when the rod is folded over to the waters edge next to the boat. For all the people that have never fished before. If you get a hookup, lift the rod up to waist height then slowly drop the rod towards the water while winding quickly. Then lift the rod back up to above waist height without winding. Slowly drop the rod back down towards the water while winding flat out. That's called Pump and wind. This brings the fis up through the water column easier than the rod bent over to the water and trying to wind the reel. Just so anyone watching knows and can learn. So all the people know if Fishing For Red Emperor, if they come up to the boat with Red stripes on body that's white, they will be undersize the majority of the time. When they get to maturity they will be Red all over. The Red striped on white body are always juvenile's or on the edge of being JUST LEGAL ok. If you happen to hit a patch of Juvenile Reds , move another 20 meters deeper and you will find the Big Ones.
@@stevepierce3509 yeah it’s definitely an eye opener just to see the expanse of it! Very dry when we went in though.
No
Yeah I wish we didn’t! You will see why in our next episode!
If you dont like the road dont go
Exactly 👍
Hey Eddieand Snez, great video. Eddie, be careful of using a rattle gun on caravan jacks the ugga duggas can break gear teeth and roll pins pretty easily. A good drill in low speed is kinder on the gear. And you seem to be already aware of it but your dura hubs are having issues going by the dust patterns on your trailer wheels. Seemingly great idea but I am leary of what happens when the bearing runs dry from a leak whereas wet grease still works long enough to get you out of trouble.
Thanks mate, I’ll buy a bit for it and start using one 👌
Yes...the road into Stanage is rough on fibreglass boats, but the fishing is worth it. If I remember correctly when the mackerel season opens...out from the Hexams in the general use area are some monsters of the Spanish variety..... Great video again.. looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks for watching and feedback mate. It’s Much appreciated 🍻

Nup you got enough gear!
Nice one, but if you were south of the Dukes you probably could have kept the mackie - Southern closed seasons The southern closures apply each year to east coast waters south of latitude 22˚S (located slightly north of Stanage Bay, between Mackay and Yeppoon). The annual southern Spanish mackerel closed seasons are: 1 to 21 February 1 to 21 March
Ouch! 😣
Lovely ep and setups and fish guys, Love Stanage such a top spot, I hope your Boat trailer your taking up the Cape next year is set up better than under the Cat or it will take you a week Or three to get up there, Haha
Haha, thanks mate, yes this one is going to be purpose built! Will have an episode on the setup coming early next year. 👌

Well, for me that was a riveting production. You crammed alot in there, and had all the editing down path ! Very top darts on staying safe out there, and i'm glad Snez found her comfort zone in towing the Lotus. Another great one Eddie and Snez definitely a magic place a lot of work setting up to get there that front screen maybe use a stainless steel fine mesh like what’s on fly screen doors. A few nice fish a lot undersized pity about the Spanish Mack keep safe 👍🤗 Cheers Wombat 🐾🎣🍻🥂

Hey Eddie just put shade mesh on the front of ya boat mate. Works a treat
@@johndewaard8032 yeah thanks mate. I’ve got to get my alloy guy to weld a frame up for it and do exactly that. 👌
Hey guys another great video 👍. A tip you might want to try. I have a 25 foot glass boat on a alloy trailer I changed the hitch to a off road type hitch and it took a lot of the jerking out of the ride. Mine is the old Hyland type which still uses the ball. Well worth trying bit similar to the cruise master hitch on my van. Happy travels and keep on fishing 👍😁
Thanks mate, I’ll put a DO35 or DO45 hitch on it then, sounds good. 👌
nice
Another tip folks I had a front guard made for one of my boats the material looks like shade cloth but is different stronger, I think it's called rock guard. I got it from old mate at Hervey Bay Canvas down at urangan. @@OBM1770
I still have my 16ft cruisecraft rebel v16. I bought it in about 1975 second hand with a 135 evinrude. It got dryrot in it a few years later. Gutted it out, masonite floor can you believe!. Anyway sold the motor, and I still have the shell in the cow paddock. With kids and building house I was off the water for 30 odd years. I swore I'd never wash my boat with fresh water again. Hence I bought a yank boat, 10 years ago no timber structurally.
Oh, and the cuts in the gunnel rubber are from the 90lb hand lines we used back in the day 😀
Cool story mate thanks for sharing. That is one of the reasons I went with a Noosa Cat. The 1993 Kevlar Cat I had previously had the floor rot as well. Expensive operation to fix. The Noosa Cat is all glass. 👌
@@OBM1770 oh, i didn't know that about the Noosa cat. What year though? I did drive down to brisvegus when i was looking. It was 2004 i think, 2400. It looked a bit neglected, so it put me off because of the wood thing.
