I definitely get absorbed by the dreaminess. I also like the Mabon deck, but then I love autumn colours and I am also waiting for Lammas to use my copy. Have you ordered the Ostara deck? @@vaudevillemanor LOL -- Ostara isn't my fave. I have grandkids and their parents do the Easter egg thing, etc. I've never really been a fan of this holiday -- pagan or otherwise. I'm interested in getting the Litha deck next.

I have just created a full review video for the Imbolc Oracle and it reminded me all over again why I love this deck. It is really calming deck and great for self reflection. I also had trouble connecting with the Samhain deck. I think it is quite a challenging deck to work with. It didn't help that when I did the suggested deck interview spread, the first card I pulled for the 'what is your personality?' question I pulled the apples card, which is about deception. And so it made me feel a little wary of using it. I had a breakthrough with the Samhain deck when I combined it with another oracle deck - The Tree Wisdom Cards by Lisa McLoughlin. The addition of these cards helped to put the Samhain cards into perspective.

Thank you so much ☺️ Creating a tarot deck has certainly been an interesting process, a long one, but if you have the time to invest I would definitely recommend it. It has certainly pushed me creatively and hopefully helped me to understand the meaning of the cards on a deeper level. Good luck with your deck design, do you have a theme for it yet? I feel the theme of balancing male and female energies is a growing topic for tarot and oracle decks and an important issue to be explored.

@ I’d like to create a deck to help work with earth and plant energies but also tie in working with ancestors. I’m about to go through a big transition in my life and I need grounding energy. Your deck is giving a creative, curious, playful and joyful energy (if I’m reading it correctly). There’s always a need for more light and joy in the world. I’m excited to watch it develop.

Oh wow, that deck concept sounds amazing and topics that I am definitely interested in. I have some artwork based on similar themes and if I wasn't already committed to The Tremendous Tuxedo Circus deck, I would probably be doing that instead. By its very nature of cats and circus, it certainly is very playful, but my word, have I struggled to represent the more shadowy cards to fit in with this theme! I do hope you decide to document your deck 🙂

@ I hope we’ll see many more decks from you! I’m assuming that every card you create requires so much thought and effort. But I think that cats have a shadow side. They can be spiteful, lazy, ingeniously clever at mischief, choosing boxes over toys, and suck out our souls while we sleep (that may have just been mine). They can slip between worlds. Reminds me of the hall of mirrors in a circus. And as I have zero artwork, you’re already leagues ahead of me on a grounding deck. So excited for all the moments that you are going to capture both intentionally and unintentionally. Every reader will see something different. That’s the marvel in it. Just my opinion. 😁

Aww thank you ☺️ I have been amazed at how much time each card has taken so far (for a canvas size so small! The down side to working digitally I suppose, where you can zoom in and really geek out on the detail 😂). I have so many ideas for other decks already, but I just need to finish this one (but will probably do an oracle deck next - less overwhelming). Cats really are the most baffling and curious creatures but that's why we love them. As for your deck, I really do recommend to just start sketching out rough designs and see where it takes you. Be gentle on yourself during the creative process, without judgement as the ideas flow. The more you work on your concept the more the deck will evolve and grow. I was fortunate that I already had the characters, style and aesthetics in place before I started, so possibly a little less daunting. I am so excited for you and where your deck design journey will lead you.

Thank you for your comment highlighting this concern about the Hush tarot. When researching the reviews for this deck, some people also felt disappointed by the lack of diversity in the images. Originally I was going to address this in the video, but it was already quite a long video so decided not to. Also at the time of filming, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about this idea and to be honest I still feel conflicted. Whilst I totally understand the need for diversity and inclusion, my quandary is; is it the responsibility for all art be inclusive all of the time? But I am sorry you feel under represented and so perhaps the role of the artists creating tarot decks needs to be explored further? For me though, it was the beauty of the animal illustrations that drew me to this deck ☺️

@vaudeville manor I’m revising my opinion on the deck. I missed that it was based on a 19th Century aesthetic. And I don’t feel a need to be represented in every deck but this one seemed very one note without a reason. It was my fault. I missed the design notes. And I completely agree with you. The animal cards are the strength in the deck. Each one is thought provoking and beautiful. Thank you again for such a lovely review.

I still think your initial comment is valid and worth exploring. It certainly has got me thinking about my own artwork and how I represent people (when I am not drawing circus cats that is!) 🙂

Hi. I totally agree with you about this deck. I definitely feel Lisa put a lot of thought into creating it from the visuals in the collaged art to the written meanings in the book. I get the impression that she intended for this deck to be used intuitively and some of the cards read very intuitively for me. However, I am still referring to the book for some of the plants and animals where I am not familiar with the significance of the symbols included. Because of the sheer amount of detail and hidden layers, I think this is a deck that will keep on giving over time x

I just purchased this deck, too, and LOVE the artwork and cannot wait to really dig into the cards and the guidebook. Wow! There is a lot to unpack here and really looking forward to working with this deck.

@@sharla2484 Yes there really is a lot to unpack here, especially Lisa's use of repeated imagery throughout the deck, using symbolism from the natural world. But like you I am looking forward to continuing working with this deck to gain a deeper understanding of the messages we can receive from nature.

I think the Season of the Witch series will always be a firm favourite of mine. I agree that the art for the Heavenly Bodies is beautiful, the whole deck is stunning 😍

Definitely check out other reviews as everyone else will have different experiences of a particular deck. Also listen to your intuition - if I find myself repeatedly looking at deck over a period of time then I see this as a sign that my subconscious wants me to get it.
