Join us as we explore the world by SUP or Stand Up Paddle board!
Having paddle boarded in Australia and New Zealand we saw the possibilities that Scotland had to offer as a Paddleboarding destination. However there wasn't a lot of information on SUP in Scotland at the time so we started our Website
sup-chick.com to record our adventures and share some of the great paddleboarding destinations we had discovered.
We started exploring paddle destinations around Glasgow but were soon doing longer road trips to the Highlands and Islands enjoying a 5 month trip of a lifetime - SUP Safari Scotland which we recorded in a 23 part series.
On returning to Australia we continue making paddle boarding films of our adventures in Queensland, WA and the rest of Australia and back to New Zealand when travel becomes a little easier.

SUP Leak - What happens when you have a hole in your Paddle Board
If you're anything like me you've probably wondered what happens when you get a hole in your paddle board. Does it explode, does the stream of air create jet propulsion or do you just sink? today I share with you my experience of what happened when I discovered my inflatable SUP had a leak.

throw it in the water...does it foat?
I used it as a floatation device while snorkelling but it did have a slow leak - that was with the compressive force of me holding onto it to float though!!
Looks fun. I know nothing about this sport/activity. Do you have to join a club or get a licence to SUP in areas like that or can you just put your board into the water?.
I think it depends on the location, rules are constantly changing. It’s best to check your local area first by connecting with a paddle board group or looking at local bylaws with the local council.
Thank you so much!! I hadn't even thought of the handlebar mount!! Perfect!!!
It’s a really versatile way of mounting a GoPro!! Good for those under water shots too 😊
Wonderful video.. May I asked where you parked
Thanks for watching 😊 It was near the Loch Ken Holiday Park by the decommissioned railway bridge - there is a link to a map with coordinates under ‘Location’ on this blog post sup-chick.com/paddle-boaring-on-loch-ken/
@@supchick5757 Many thanks👌
Beautiful scenery. Getting a hole is one of the cons of an SUP inflatable, however the pros probably outweigh the cons
Yes, it was my own fault that put the original hole in it but the patch has done a good job so far.
I don't think I'd go back on the water until I got a completely new board. Good luck with the repair.
Getting it professionally repaired is a good idea if you don’t know how to do it yourself. The people who repair surf lifesaving inflatables are a good place to start.
I'd probably panic, quite a bit, so you handled yourself very well in this situation!
Lol I could barely notice the air coming out at all but I’d have been worried if we were a long way out from shore!
How beautiful is this? The sky and the sea are so blue! Welcome back. You've come back with a great video!
Thanks Big Daddy!! Glad you liked it. It’s a pretty nice spot 😊
looks great
It was sooo nice!!
Wow, the water is so clear..I bet you can see the fish as you're paddling
Yes I think I saw one in the edit that I didn’t notice in the day. Some good snorkelling too 😊
Beautiful place! That water is so beautiful. Bet it's a good place to fish.
Yes fishing is pretty popular in the region and the area is well known for prawns 🍤
Aw we have a harmony and officially in the book the pull out draw is a cocktail cabinet.😂😂😂 our van needs alot of rust work doing. Xxx I keep the cereals in there.❤❤❤❤❤ hope it went to a good home. Xx
A cocktail cabinet sounds like a brilliant idea!! Yes we found a lo Ely family for her who I think might love her almost as much as we did 💗🚐 All the best with getting your rust work done. It can be a bit of a mission 😊
The plane is normal when you live in broome🙃
It’s pretty cool to see😊
12 janu 2024. Creation be my witness - waiting for the exact make, down to the color to arrive from AMAZ. I brought after long consideration, i wondered if too large. Then again had issue carrying all the stuff i wanted. Anywho - how's it holding up after a year?
Still going strong!! 💪🏽
@@supchick5757 Thank goodness. I expect to sometimes toss heavy loads. Decided to spend a lot on I hope are strong bags. Believe it can take a large load? Thanks.
update - picked him up this morning and left my Amaz comments!
I once went diving among 100s of wild dolphins in NZ. Beautiful creatures
Wow that would have been fantastic!! I they seem to be one animal that just loves to play - we saw a group of 4 catching a wave and they were having a great old time, almost like they were saying to the surfers ‘this is how you do it’ 😊
Dolphins are so lovely and intelligent. Any day where a dolphin or any other animal comes over to say "hello" and spend a bit of time with you is a good day, in my opinion!
It was awesome!! We were so lucky as there were 11 that came to visit the day we were there 🐬
I love dolphins, they are so nice and inteligent. We also have in Black Sea.
They have such a lovely energy don’t they? And when the mum to be rolled over a bit and looked me straight in the eye!!! WOW 🤩
Can I ask what the prices were for the first two expedition vehicles ( the AAV and the SLRV respectively)?
I think the AAV was around the 250K and SLR was about 100K more again but that could have changed since. Pretty cool trucks both of them. I was really surprised at how spacious the AAV felt inside. Have you checked out any others? Always interesting to see what’s on the market.
@@supchick5757 Thank you so much for responding! Yes, I've seen other overlanding vehicles, even ones from ATW (All Terain Warriors). The AAV and SLRV were the only two to pique my interest. The prices are not too bad also. Does the AAV come with a small washing machine like the SLRV?
I can’t remember a washing machine being part of the package but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get it as an add on - but I honestly can’t remember. I don’t believe the model we looked at had one and I can’t remember seeing a spot specifically for one but I think customising these trucks is pretty common. There’s a TH-cam channel called ‘Follow the Fuso’ that has an AAV they might be worth contacting as I think they’ve had theirs a year or so now and would have some great insights into what living in the truck is like 😊
Here’s a link to their truck tour which might be interesting th-cam.com/video/CZzKvVBBevA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IWVA5L-7q7aeGpK2
@@supchick5757 Thank you so much for all your help!!! I reallt do appreciate it, I'll definitely check them out.
fuck yeah, peace out from holland !!!!

🤣
That looks like a peaceful and relaxing way to spend the day! Gorgeous music to match the mood.
Thanks 😊 it’s such a beautiful place and a lesser known and quieter gem of a spot ✨
Thanks for the review, have never paddle a fatstick. This is the kind of review I like, user review after some year of use!🙌
Thanks 😊 it’s great to think that some things are still made to last 🏄🏼♀️
Great product review, very nicely presented. I like how you alternated between shots of you presenting and then cutting to shots of the boards.
Thanks 😊 trying to keep a fairly dry subject a little more interesting and I think the pictures speak for themselves ✨
Great review, especially after using it for 5 years. Is it durable enough to remain inflated if it runs over a rock and how long does it take to inflate? Maybe I'll rent a paddle board next summer before buying one.. This one looks like a solid choice
Yes we have a few scratches on them from running into submerged obstacles but they’ve remained strong. They usually take about 10 -15 minutes to pump up manually (depending how hot it is 🥵 and how fast we go!!)
Thx..good to know
Let me know how you get on - I’m sure you’ll love it as I know you’re into your outdoor sports from your videos such as hiking 🥾 and riding 🚴
Great review video. At some stage, wear and tear takes its toll, but ongoing maintenance helps to prolong their use. Looks like the transportation of the boards requires a lot of care and attention.
Yes it’s good to buy something that will last as long as possible and is able to be repaired instead of having to buy a new one all the time as they are pretty hard to recycle ♻️ I think very few of them have only a small percentage that can be reused but I have to do more research on that one.
Very nice. Is there one for kayaking?
Good idea!!
Lovely - thanks for sharing!
It’s a really beautiful place ✨
Nice view from the Runway Bar in Short St.
It’s a great place for plane spotting!!
LOL!
A bit of a dad joke but oh well... 😝
Beautiful day for paddle boarding
Sunny days are the best days 😊
Beautiful, calm water!
Lol yes!! I filmed mainly when it was calm. Kinda got distracted when the wind kicked up 😊
@@supchick5757 Still interesting! Like Herman, I was wondering about the wildlife, and am glad it's too chilly for certain wildlife.
Sad to see some of the landmarks fall into disrepair. Looks like that was quite a journey along the river.
Yes especially historic landmarks - some never seem to be noticed until it’s too late. I’m hoping the bridge at the very start of the trail doesn’t follow suit - it’s pretty cool 😎
Great POV shots with your GoPro. No snakes or crocs in the Maroochy River?
No a bit too cold for the Crocs this far south and technically it’s still winter so snakes should be in hibernation 🤞🏽
Beautiful, peaceful and tranquill. Great scenery and the music really added to the feeling of being there.
Thanks - I think the subtitles instead of ongoing narration helped give this one a more peaceful vibe - it was actually a lot less peaceful in reality than the first part. It’s hard to see it on the video but I was really beating into the wind for quite a big section!
What is this beach called?
It’s Scurrival beach on Isle of Barra north of the airport ✨🏄🏼♀️
@@supchick5757 thanksss
Beautiful scenery!!!
Scotland is stunning!!! Something that’s almost impossible to capture on film - but that could just be my photography 🤣
Now that's quite something!
Eerie but also really cool!!
That looks like a very relaxing way to spend a day. Great scenery.
It was!! Very relaxing, such a beautiful place too 🏄🏼♀️
I am surprised at how fast that paddle board goes lol. That's a quick piece of kit
Ha ha!! The wind direction and current can make a big difference - when it’s all working in your favour = bliss! The next of the trip was a little different. As the river widened out and there were less trees and hills the wind became challenging in some spots, but all part of the fun 😃🏄🏼♀️
You pick the most beautiful, uncrowded rivers to paddle board. Nice to see these out of the way places
Thank you 😊 it’s nice to visit the more historic parts of the Sunshine Coast that haven’t been as developed as the coastline - I feel like it has more soul ✨
Part 1 ... of a series?? Oooh, loving this already. Looking forward to Part 2!
It was a great trip and a good challenge. A really peaceful way to visit a popular part of the country 😃✨
Great compilation. An ideal place to be at this time of year for all outdoor enthusiasts, especially paddle boarders - even when it rains!
There’s no where quite like Scotland on a sunny day and it’s also pretty awesome in every other weather too 😃
Great compilation. The ideal place to be at this time of year for outdoor enthusiasts, especially paddle boarders - even when it rains!
I would love to paddle there
It was so beautiful 🤩 the water was really clear with heaps of jelly fish 🏄🏼♀️✨
Wow, such beautiful paddleboarding....and in Scotland! I knew golfing and climbing were a thing, but didn't know you could go paddleboarding there. Stunning capture of those landscapes!
Thanks!! It’s a pretty special place to go paddle boarding with so many different environments to choose from. It probably not the first sport people think of when visiting. One of Scotland’s best kept secrets perhaps?
What a great way of documenting and showcasing all the places you've been to!
There are just so many places to paddle board in Scotland and some of them you just wouldn’t think about like the canal through Glasgow which I didn’t add to this video. It just blows me away how many places you can go paddle boarding in Scotland 🏴
