In order to improve the public image of the Mignons, when Henry III and IV launched their campaigns of conquest in Italy, young men from the captured Italian cities would be brought to Paris and matched up against the Mignons in boxing and wrestling matches. Of course, they would always be considerably smaller in stature and would be sparsely fed for one week before the matches took place. During the matches, with their victims writhing in pain on the floor, they would take time to perform dances and pirouettes to the delight of the crowd. It’s said that if you sit in "her" lap, you will die before the next full moon. The statue is actually Thanatos the male god of death, but nobody calls it that. Look it up on the internet.
