Hello dear friend, huge fan of Honda Civic here. Let me know, please, have you ever be changing the timing chain on your Honda for these 500000 miles? Thanks in advance
Wowzers
Congratulations
Do you still have the car? What is the mileage at now?
Update what is it at now?
honda should add another digit tbh
Update to how many miles you have now ?
did you keep track of parts replaced?
Is this 1.8
You Can we see your civic ?
How many mile now?
Hoe many miles now?
Honda engineers chuckling with you. 🤣
What motor oil do you put in it? 5w-20
Yes. Full synthetic.
Hey I have a 2010 that has just hit 200 I’ve only ever done oil changes I’m guessing now is a good time to do a transmission fluid change?
Oh you got it in kilometers lol this is like 600,000 miles.. not too bad . I have a 2010 i hope it lasts this lonng
Awesome! I gotta 2010 honda civic lx with the r18 A1. Right now i only got 111,700 . Im really hoping mine gets this far ! Any tips, tricks? You still got this 2011?
change oil when the oil life hits 30-40% instead of 10 or 15. change the transmission fluid every 30-50k miles. change the transmission fluid every 30k if you tow or drive mostly city and 50k if mostly highway. change coolant every 3 years. don’t rev the engine high when cold.
Congrats.. 4 years later.. My 2010 Honda Civic has 302K miles right now. I got it brand new. Maintenance is coming, so we'll see what code maintenance minder gives.
Can you please list all major things you changed and maybe why cause i have same engine.
Are you still running on the original timing chain ?
Did you ever get a valve adjustment on your honda?
Once at 300,000 miles I think
@everydayislikeafieldtrip this might be a long shot but did you have symptoms to get one ? Was something wrong with the car ? Or just maintenance?
@@shadowman1992 it was preventative maintenance. Car has always ran fine
what type of engine? 1.4 liters of 61kw code L13A6? My Honda Fit has that type of engine and after 200,000 km it is still perfect... the car easily reaches 120 mph
In this civic in the video its a 2011 so im pretty sure its an R18 1.8 liter engine
My honda civic 2009, 101,000kms hoping to hit 200,000kms by my retirement. I have 14 years to do so.
you dont drive much with it. I have a 2014 and it's at 155,000 km.
You’ve had some close calls! Glad that’s all it was!
I know the 10-11 civics are super good
Have you had any repairs yet?
This gives me hope. I "only" have 360,000 miles on my 1997 Civic (I make a video every 25,000 miles and have done so since I bought the car new-I have the vids from 250k to 350k on my channel) I'm surprised at your mileage with a '11! You must drive A LOT (I thought I drove a lot)
Those are 8th gen civics, the 2010-2011 are the best of that gen.
Did you changed the timing chain?
Not that I remember. I did replace the tensioner at some point just to be safe. I prefer the chain over belts.
@@everydayislikeafieldtripI have a 13 with 418k miles. I’ve thought about replacing parts preventively as you just mentioned. Any other parts you’ve replaced preventively?
@@patm95 it's not a bad idea to replace rubber hoses simply bc they don't last forever. The only time this car ever broke down was over a busted 8$ hose. Easy fix but could have been prevented I guess
@@everydayislikeafieldtrip oh good advice. Thanks!
My 05 is at 425000 i have changed the engine and clutch but nothing else and no rust yet ,,,,original engine had 270 on it when the timing belt broke so my fault it would been fine today if i didnt decide to go with 500 $ replacement engine
Man my 08 honda civic is my lover, 254K miles with 104K being my own. I love this car but all the suspension components going out around 250K is such a pain. If cars werent so expensive and it was literally cheaper to fix my car up. Doing lower control arms this weekend. Bushings are rotting away but i live in ohio the rust belt which definitely helped acceleration of decay
May I ask what exact repairs you’ve done ? Oil changes ? Brakes ? Gaskets ? What kind of oil you use ? I just got a 2011 civic with 100000 miles I hope it last this long
daamn my 09 Civic 1.8 FD just hit 250k kilometers, i think i have toooo much way to catch you
Love my 2010 Civic Si sedan!
Is this an ex trim?
LX
My 07's transmission is about to go out with only 216k , Im surprised yours lasted so long
Change transmission fluid every 25k 30k it’ll last 500k miles
@@11Waelthis is the answer.
Any update on your mileage now? 😊
Going to hit 625k today!
How often do u change oil?
And what else do you do
@@sim021ful He said in another vid he doesn't change oil or do maintenance
Glad to see you finished the break in period
yeah, it might be time for me to start using that high mileage motor oil
Which engine do you have?
R18. It's an LX model
@@everydayislikeafieldtrip why you didn't buy a diesel car ?
@@saifeddinezouini8688 I looked around. They're just not very popular in the United States. Volkswagen does have some that I checked out, but ultimately I ended up buying this car because I found it used with only 32,000 mi when it was 5 years old and it only been owned by one single person in Florida so it wasn't rusted or anything
Look at Hondas and Toyotas lasting to 1 million kilometers (and still going strong) while most luxury cars can’t make it through 100,000
My 06 civic didn’t make it past 150k miles. The engine block cracked 😢
Yeah. Sadly when the R18A1 became first available that was a major recall they had. Sad it didn't happen under warranty like the other 06's
Any car can go up to that mileage mileage when taken care of, preventative maintenance is usually the key to making a car last forever and having things done every so often regardless of mileage. There was a lady in Orlando Florida who had a 1964 Mercury Comet with over 560,000 on it, reason why it lasted all these years is certain parts were bought with lifetime warranties along with having things done every so often regardless wether it needed to be be done or not. The total amount that was spent on that car in 47 years in maintenance and repair bills was $50,000. May be a lot to put into a car but considering that’s the only car she had for 47 years, not all that much in comparison to getting a new car every couple of years and having to take out a loan not to mention paying the interest on the loan.
$50,000 into 47 is $1063.83 per year for maintenance and repairs. Of course this does not include insurance, depreciation, interest, annual tabs, etc. But those would be a lot more expensive had she traded in her car every few years for a new one.
Congrats! My ‘13 just turned over 400k.
Same engine and transmission??
@@christiansayers4747 yep.
take it to another 500k and manufacturer give you a free new car
This is what I like to see
U savage
Original engine and transmission? It would be crazy if it was
It is the original engine and automatic transmission!
@@everydayislikeafieldtrip how does it shift? Any noticeable loss of power? Burns oil?
@@wl6020 The transmission is as good as the day I bought it with 32,000 mi on it. It's never leaked a drop of oil. It drives as strong as it ever did except when the AC is on, the AC is a big drain. Thanks for watching
You think it can hit 1 million miles on original engine and transmission? Many other folks who hit a million had gotten a new car from their maker.
@@wl6020 I guess it's possible but unlikely I don't drive nearly as much as I used to. At one point I was driving over 100,000 miles a year. It will hit 1 million kilometers sometime next month.
Wow. Can I ask what repairs you've done? You mostly drive cross country/uber?
The ac compressor has been replaced twice, that's the only major repair. I used to drive many miles for work making deliveries. Thanks for watching.
Did you get several transmission fluid changes?
Between how many miles you change the transmission fluid
I drain and refill it around every 40 to 50 thousand miles. I've never flushed it. I used only Honda transmission fluid
@@everydayislikeafieldtrip thank you for the attention I appreciate
Hi nice video. Damn i have a 2010 with 125k miles a baby where did u change the transmission fluid honda dealer ?
I would drain and fill the transmission fluid (I have never flushed it) either myself or at a shop or dealership occasionally. For a drain and fill my dealership charges way too much.
@@everydayislikeafieldtrip what engine oil did you always use? High mileage?
