I used to be very open and trusting towards people in my younger years. I remember almost daily hanging with people in my neighborhood and just constant group interactions. Those years where the happiest I'll ever be. Then all it took was one person of social influence to in their self religious righteousness single me out and starts rumors. Alot happened after that. I'm now completely different from my younger self. I'm a loner who avoid social situations and I'm mistrustful of people in general. I have grown accustomed to being called the bad guy, that I don't consider myself a good person. Although I do feel empathy towards people, I just don't show it, and avoid connections to prevent myself from feeling empathy. I suppose what I have going for me is my hatred and mistrust to any kind of authority so I'm glad I would never fall that low in certain immoral situations.

I used to have empathy, but the older I got, the more I learned about the world and the less I cared. Some people try to empathize with those who would treat them with worse than contempt.

The original premise isn't even where most monsters come from. Most monsters come from people believing that they are being moral, upright, and decent. The problem with being a monster is that most humans are already pretty close to it. All we really need are targets, since the majority of folk are already predisposed to othering, degrading, and dehumanizing people they don't like. The problem is that being a monster serves a purpose for most people. Being capable of being a monster is what keeps the truly deranged in check, the problem is when our response to certain things does not match what we're getting from another person. A lot of people now adays are all for the lynch mob against 'the other' for things that don't rise to the level of requiring that response, and at the same time have a dulled or no reaction to things that do rise to that response. This will continue until an actual large scale reaction causes a tragedy that can't be justified by the morality after the fact. I would give examples of what I'm talking about, but odds are TH-cam wouldn't like it because the notion of 'politically correct' has become so toxic to the point that one can't even talk about objectively real things without the ban bot coming by and nuking the comment.

The thing that pisses people off about vtubers being "fake" is, I think, the same sentiment that gets people pissed off about women streamers in general: "I bet she's not a real gamer. That can't be her real voice. She's probably just doing this because it's easy money. I bet she just wants to coast on the money from her SIMPS. She is tricking us by being too relatable and attractive!" It's just magnified with vtubers, because there's something on screen that is OBVIOUSLY and EXPLICITLY fake, so the worry that you are being taken advantage of is easier for people to justify. Somehow though, I doubt that the people who dislike vtubers for this reason would find anything objectionable at all about if a streamer was puppeteering a muppet or something like that, which is exactly the same thing.

I think it's pretty funny that people will be like "I hate vtubers" and then are fine with the million entertainers that are just a series of png's on a screen. I think a lot of the dislike actually comes from the fact that they are women, a lot of them use rather scantily-clad models, and thus the assumption becomes that their popularity just comes from simps. Which is honestly the case for all female entertainers though, tbf.

I'll be honest. The statement "I hate vtubers" is the dumbest most brain dead take one can have. What is a vtuber? A vtuber is a streamer that had to make a bigger upfront investment into their channel than a regular streamer. There are no other shared features between vtubers. If someone said "I hate streamers" they would be laughed at (well, nowadays at least) - how is it any different with Vtubers, who are... exactly that. They are streamers. The variety, quality, amount of work etc is all the same as any other streamer it differs on a case by case basis, the only difference being they have to get a mic, a camera and a model, instead of just a mic

The funniest thing about the tiktok mom is that I actually knew Alex prior to those videos, but by the time she started making the videos I hadn't been in contact with her for probably a couple of years and at the time I knew her she didn't have a kid. Everyone has their own opinion of the videos but I equate it to Amberlynn Reid who would make the videos of her "weight loss journey" and she would say she ordered healthy/healthier food options but would always get the wrong order. In Amberlynn's case it is supposed to be obviously fake and ironically funny...the overweight girl orders a veggie sandwich but ends up with a bacon sandwich and even though she (claims) she ordered apples they gave her 2 bags of chips...not even the drugged out crew at Taco Bell could mess up an order that badly. In Alex's case she makes obviously (generally considered) unhealthy lunches/dinners for her kid that most parents would typically avoid as much as possible. Both of them being overweight just makes people ignore any potential for comedy by assuming (more so in Alex's case) that because of her weight she genuinely doesn't see anything wrong with a box of donuts covered in chocolate syrup with a milkshake on the side as breakfast and that feeding it to her kid is wrong...they don't stop to think that maybe the excess of unhealthy food could be a joke just the same as HowToBasic smashing hundreds of eggs to repair a laptop. The object is the same for both which is getting a reaction out of people which bumps up view counts and gives further exposure...bad press is still press. Even if she actually does make absolutely horrible meals for her kid being in the public eye of 500k subscribers would have caused at least 1 call to CPS to do a checkup of some kind if there was any actual threat to the safety/well-being of the child. Gaining attention from the public has become more of a game of shock value than actual entertainment anymore considering doing public "pranks" involving potential harm to others gets more attention than actual good acts do because of the group who wanted to gain favor by faking doing good acts and then ultimately being exposed. Plus depending on the dates of the uploaded videos she could have simply been trying to gain attention before starting to sell the book that she wrote...
