I would say it's more inspired by the list, since I'm making a handful of tweaks to the mana base, removal suite, and sideboard. and fwiw victor carvalho was the first person to innovate with thrunn and foundry as far as I can tell 😅 got second in the super qualifier on the 27th

thank you for the love! while 24 lands could work, it would heavily rely on beans on two, which I don't want to do in a handful of matchups (particularly dimir and aggro). but love the idea and would be interested to see if it works!

I wanted to respond before going to end step, that was the big thing there. arena didn't have a stop set to go to end step like I was hoping 😅

there is a moment where priority is passed at the end of second main before end step. most of the time you can skip through, but this was a moment where I wanted the prompt for passing to end step 😅

@@hermesthenerd You're right. I didn't even think about that before. You can have a free space after upkeep, draw, 1st and 2nd phases to play stuff. Funny how this was never clear to me... lol

for my personal opinion, slasher is best when paired with bloodletter. yes slasher creates a quick clock, but so do our other threats, so I would rather have value 3 drops.

definitely. I could have been more aggressive getting in their hand, I was just more worried it'd be a dead play because golgari has a ton of creatures. def a good line too!

i think there is even more early removal in explorer, so its a bit harder to curve elf into your threes, even if you have 8 elf. worth trying for sure! but worried the elves wont be impactful enough.

in a list like this that's not playing the draw engines the other dimir midrange decks are, cruelclaw is more permanent, and has the upside to steal. I've taken and cast atraxas before!

so our best answer in red is bargained torch the tower. the end is also a great answer and card, I just worry about the mana value when we take our curve into account. i think your head is in the right spot tho, and worth testing if you like where it is! sideboards are always personal preference, so play what works for you

definitely! part of exploring new standard will be trying out Innkeeper's combo again, with elf on 1 to see how it fares. also want to play my explorer version at some point too. thanks for the love!

yeah i agree, elf is a solid card to include. the main thing that elf does is change us to a true two color deck instead of a splash, and we would have to drop bloodletter because of the mana. however, we can throw back in strong three drops and slim out two drops which is nice, and have more green intensive cards like frillback.

it's definitely a balance. not all matches are gonna bounce your way, and we do have some rough matchups. but nothing is unbeatable, and learning the lines and decisions points as you go will help convert those wins!

i agree i feel like golgari will line up better, but wanted to transition over with the same color combo to start before exploring others. standard is so nice rn!

@@hermesthenerd Standard feels great yes, lots of different viable decks. Rakdos is my favourite Guild so im always trying that out first as you say.

I've seen a lot of folks on harvester over fomo. I like the extra combats on fomo and the enters filter effect. let's me shave a bit on land and more late game top decks are live. also easier on the mana so you don't get stuck with a mutavault when trying to cast a harvester. both are great! I just like fomo a bit more for the reasons listed

Why do you keep so many hands with so many lands against aggro?

I've been on 4 harvester mainly because I haven't been confident enough yet in FoMo's long term playability to spend the rare WCs.

I think one of the parts that makes this deck so potent is the threat of one shot on t4. bloodletters are super worth it to put opponents on notice and the backfoot

i've def thought about it! the biggest thing for me is curve considerations. adding more 4 drops when we have 7 in the main that are incredibly impactful, i really don't want to clump up the curve. i LOVE where you're thinking tho!

@@hermesthenerd Yeah I get it for sure. I just don't love having cards that aren't versatile in my midrange deck's sideboard. Kalitas you can at least also bring in against Rakdos Prowess and Phoenix. If the concern here is food decks, then I would 100% play Hidetsugo over the Shadows, since it also breaks the Boros Token Matchup. I would also consider Damping Sphere, it's been an all-star for me. Great against Lotus and Nykthos decks and also good against Phoenix.
