First upload try of gopro video. Hope to get some motorcycle footage up soon.
Stupid
that tab is an oil catch, its for your oil to drain into ,instead of ending up on your pipes, also, use the center stand, not the side stand when changing oil on a virago
TOOLS NEEDED & BRIEF STEP SEQUENCE: 1)To access oil filter, first remove brake foot pedal w/**14MM WRENCH 2) Place oil pan underneath, remove oil plug and oil filler cap to drain oil. (CHECK MAGNETIC PLUG FOR METAL SHAVING TO SIGNIFY DAMAGE OF GEARS) 3) Use ** #5 ALLEN WRENCH to remove oil filter cover. NOTE: mark allen wrench screw with corresponding holes, cuz each one is diff length and will not fit in any other hole properlu. 4) Replace filter and O rings, do steps in reverse squence to re assemble. make sure break pedal notch matches up when re applying
ghey
Where did you get your gasket kit from cant find one
If anyone is thinking of putting up a video on any procedure, please make sure you have at least carried it out once before correctly. Otherwise, it can make for painful viewing. Not aimed at you in particular sir! just a general comment.
what is the braid you use to make the whip?
Good video, bro. Thanks.
devido às condições climáticas no Brasil uso lubrax 20 e 50 sl conforme o manual clymer da virago 1100 ! 😂
voce tem o manual clymer?
esta bueno pero podría ser en castellano y algo ha cerca de la celcha de partida
Thanks for the video and also for sharing the story about the bell. Just bought a 1996 yamaha virago 750 and this will help me to do the services myself. Hope I can Email you for further questions. Thank you in advance
THANK YOU for figuring out where that small o ring goes. MUCH appreciated.
Thanks for posting this. Did my first oil change yesterday. Had a hell of a time getting that 3rd screw off on the on oil filter cover. Between rust and it partially being stripped it was a fight. Taking it out foe the 1st ride of 2015 today.
What kind of oil u using? And how much goes in there? Thx, Alain
I read Valvoline 10W40 motorcycle oil
I just picked up a Virago 750 .. the manual I downloaded says to use 20w40. Damned if I can find that anywhere.... Think I'll use 10w40 too. It's what I use in my Suzuki GS1000G.
The small 'O' ring goes onto the bottom, center bolt that holds the cover on, without it the cover leaks.
As far as the bell: I have always put mine down low and near the front. Legend has it that Evil Road Spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where potholes come from?) Legend also has it that the mystery of the Guardian™ Bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift. Show someone how much you care. Offer them defense against the Evil Road Spirits! Give a Guardian™ Bell and share the Legend of Good Luck it offers to a motorcycle and its rider!
Phil, the small O ring goes into the bottom screw hole. Take the old one out then place the new one in before replacing the cover. You can see it at the very end of the oil change part one video.
what the little o ring at the bottom ?
that makes sense me. ive often herd bikes ring and always wounder caused that. i like it. im going to get my bell on. lol
Thanks for the visuals
When you were changing your oil i saw you had a bell on a key chain hannging from your under-caridge...i looked for one under my ride. I couldnt find it...SO I KICKED MY FRIENDS BIKE OVER WHEN HE WAS CHANGING HIS OIL. Bah hahahaha. Just kiding. Thanks for the upload. Very handy. Thankyou...but now if i change someone elses oil and i dont see a bell hanging there...what is it for anyway. Its an ignigma to me.
From my understanding the bell is a safety charm. Although I've always seen them on the handlebars near the clutch lever.

I used Fram filter cartrage number CH6004 but you can find filters on ebay or amazon cheaper. I wanted it right away so we picked it up at O'reilly's auto parts. Good luck!
Thanks for uploading these vids man, I had a good idea but it helps to actually see someone do it.
I am considering buying an 85 IF I can get it running, obviously battery will need replaced. Its been sitting since '04. I will also have to let out any old stale gas, and put the premium in and do an oil change. What kind of oil filter does this bike call for?
I used Valvoline Motorcycle 4 stroke oil. 10W-40
what kind of oil use in this bike?
