2024 Broken Arrow Skyrace - 23K Recap
The Broken Arrow Skyrace, North Tahoe Community Alliance and BUBS Naturals are excited to bring you this recap of the 2024 Broken Arrow Skyrace 23K.
The Broken Arrow Skyrace VK and 23k were the opening events of the 2024 Valsir Mountain Running World Cup and the 23k is part of The North American Golden Trail National Series, supported by Salomon.
The Broken Arrow 23K course showcases some of Olympic Valley's most famous terrain, including Emigrant Pass (elevation 8,750 feet), the jagged terrain of KT-22, unrivaled views into Granite Chief Wilderness, and the famous “Stairway to Heaven” ladder, which runners climb to the top of Wa She Shu Peak. From the valley floor at 6,200 feet, runners will ascend nearly 5,000 feet as they experience the heralded terrain of North America's most rugged and extreme ski resort.
“We have always said that whether you finish first or last, at the Broken Arrow Skyrace, YOU are a rock star,” says co-race director, Brendan Madigan. “We have - and will continue - to push for progress in the sport trail running, but we will never abandon the “old school” culture, tradition, and values that make our sport so special. Strava understands that sports can be a powerful force for bringing people together. We are delighted to be partnering with them as we invite our viewers to join the Broken Arrow community.”

Agreed these videos are beautiful. They capture some of everything - the race, the scenery, the people, and it's all positive and feel-good. Really gets at the spirit of it all. It's a great contrast to the overly-dramatic, overly-produced golden trail world series. This pleasantly reminds me of their videos from 2019 that felt more light-hearted. The lack of live stream, sure it's a bummer, but heck I never see them live anyway, it's always a watch-later for me. If you put out great recap videos like this, I will watch every single one 😁
Wow, thanks so much for this sentiment. It really hits home for us and we're glad you enjoyed them!
I've watched the VK, 46k and 26k vids. They are beautiful. However I did miss the full live streams like you had last year. Will you release full race vids?
Hey mate. Thanks for watching! We made the hard/easy call to scrap the livestream due to a lack of funding. We were bummed that we couldn't convince enough brands to get behind our vision but at the end of the day, the reality is a tv-grade livestream isn't financially viable for an indpendent organization like us. Maybe in the future. Brendan talks about it at length on the Freetrail Trailgating 23k podcast if you'd like to have a listen. Thanks for the support!
Patrick is a beast. That's a HUGE gap.
Thank you so much for the most inspiring days ever
You are so welcome! Thanks for joining us!
wish 2024 VK had a live, anybody find one?
We do too, but TV a ready livestream was out of the budget this year. We're hopeful to bring it back in 2025.
lol what was that butt shot
WOW so lucky she lived! So focused and determined to overcome the extreme odds and come back.Following her heart and deep sense of mission🌠 this is life fully lived in each moment with this heartfelt story. Kalif🏃♀️🌄
😃 'promo sm'
Promo>SM 🤦
I thought they would follow how the race unfolded. Who's leading, if there's any chase pack, some elites fighting there, but I guess it was just a promotional video.
background music is WAY too loud at the beginning. Can't understand the dialog a lot of the time.
You guys presented what I could never describe. Very cool to see. Feeling very blessed for the beautiful experiences the running community brings. Thank you so much for your phenomenal coverage. I love IT!!❤
BEST coverage EVER - thank you guys!! So much fun to watch!
"Granny gear"🤣
AMAZING coverage! Much appreciated
Great production covering Broken Arrow. Also, how is Buzz not considered the winner of Dipsea race? He's 71.
How cool! Advertising products for long distance trail runners.
The advertising is a tiny percent of the air time compared to traditional media
Absolutely amazing coverage!! Follow cams, amazing shots, great quality, thank u guys so much 🤗🤗 great commentary by Dbo, Corrine, Zach, et al...
Absolutely perfect. Thanks for keeping it real Mirna. xoxo
Amazing and inspiring Mirna!
Is there a link for the livestream of the 46K today?
Unfortunately no Livestream for the 46KM today. We're hopeful we can cover the entire weekend next year!
What great coverage . Thx.👏👏👏👍👍
Thank you very much!
Any 46K updates?
Our IG channel has great updates going today, but there isn't a livestream for the 46KM. We'll be back tomorrow for the 23K!
such incredible production, Ultrasignup taking trail livesteaming to its next level. Dylan and Corrine are like a warm comforting blanket.
Stoked for the UltraSignup production! They really dialed in the coverage!
This race is incredible inspired by all these amazing people!!!
Thank you!
Shoe selection on snow discussion please
Hoka FTW!
❤❤❤❤
you are amazing Mirna
"It's going to be hard. It's going to be really difficult. There are parts you're not going to be a badass at. I'm not a badass at any of this, and so it's always hard." I felt that in my soul. <3

Amazing race !!….at 1:28:31 Pennsylvania State Mathias Lipshitz wearing white cap, white shirt.
Great Job Mirna. Keep it up.
great job
I think its so cute when you refer to some of the runners as "back of the packers! LOL (not offended, but the lady you were speaking about was NOT a back of the packer since i was!! LOL)
took me 50 minutes to figure out that was Lauren Fleshman. Allie Mac is awesome!
I don't think you should call it a vk when you only gain 800 meters.
it's kinda strange too because it didn't start as low as it could have and the finish line was a fair ways below the top. Definitely could have gotten a bit closer, but it would have had to go up quite a bit more to get the full km in.
Much better coverage these year. Thanks to Dbo and Malcom.
We assessed our approach to last year's first effort and made improvements. We still have items to clean as this weekend was only our second experience. We definitely improved on mountain visuals this year and I'm really happy that effort came through. We'll keep working on smoothing out the behind the scenes setup and story telling and already fired up for next year!
@@scottrokis excellent work 👏
This was so great! I would love to hear/see more women's panel's happening and posted online! Thank you!!!!
I love the segment about Marisa, it’s been fun to see her at events over the years. She was at the Striders aid station for the 26k. She inspires me!
Loving the commentary and images - thanks!

Все здорово!!!!!!!!!!
Matt Belus in yellow shirt!
!!!!
A great day of racing ruined by that Strava executive poisoning the event with her woke politics at the end. If the ultra-running and the companies that promote it are going to turn it into yet another Marxist propaganda outlet, I will be one of the 60%+ fans who leave. We get far too much politics already. Give us a break?!?!?! Please!!! You ESG pinheads are ruining everything you touch.
Finished the 52k today! What an amazing race! This was my first trail race and second time going the marathon distance. I will be back!!! Weather was insane!!!
Corinne brings such an articulate approach and Dylan has grown so much in his hosting abilities - love this tandem! Thanks for the great coverage
how many times is the word "cool" used?
The 26k is going to be a showdown!
Amazing race! D’bo is always on point with his predictions. Couldn’t imagine better hosts, you two do an outstanding job and bring a lot excitement.
