Discover Marana: Horseback Riding
There are many ways to explore the vast, stunning landscape of the Sonoran Desert, but there’s nothing quite like exploring it on horseback. The one-of-a-kind experience not only lets you explore the environment, but it also lets you connect with stunning animals.
Connect with nature
Traveling high above the usual sight line, riding horseback gives you a new perspective on wildlife and scenery. Those Saguaro arms and nesting birds are now eye-level, the javelinas sneaking through bushes are now easily spotted.
Not only do you get to see the wildlife in a new way, but you also get to connect with the horse you are riding. There is an unmistakable bond between a rider and the horse. You get to feel the strength of the beautiful animal and witness its grace moving along the trails.
While horseback riding does require some physical activity, it takes less than walking or biking. Meaning, you get to spend more time and effort connecting with the environment around you. So settle into that saddle, and enjoy the views.
Go on an adventure
Whether it be an adventurous outing for your family or a romantic sunset date, Marana’s endless riding trails have you covered.
When you ride a horse through the depths of the Sonoran Desert, several of your senses will be fulfilled, but none like your sense of adventure! Horseback riding finds the perfect line between safety and adventure. It’s enough to get your adrenaline moving, but safe enough to bring your whole family along on the trip.
For the more experienced riders, there are more technical trails into the Tucson Mountains. Whether you’re heading up steeper terrain or trotting through denser vegetation, there’s always more adventure out there.
Learn about the desert
While Marana is full of opportunities to ride horses, one of our favorites is riding them with Tucson Mountain Stables. They are a family-owned and operated stable offering guided tours for all ages. Just take one ride with them and you’ll see why horseback riding is so unique and enjoyable. Plus, their guides will teach you all about the landscape, the wildlife and vegetation, and the history of the remarkable Marana.
Just take it from one of Tucson Mountain Stables owners and guides, Missy, who sees horseback riding as a step into another world.
“Horseback riding in Marana is an adventure that leads you back to the old west. It means a lot to me to be able to share the western lifestyle with people visiting and local families in Marana, people who wouldn’t have the opportunity otherwise without stables like ours.” -Missy

A non-competitive ride of either 73.4 or 45.9 miles! Riders started in Oro Valley and took a rest break at Marana's Heritage Park in Gladden Farms where they were greeted by the local VFW (Veteran's of Foreign Wars) Post 5990 and a patriotic disp...

Mrs. Kitty Mazon de Gutierrez visits Marana, AZ
This was one of the most appalling interactions I've ever had with a food industry professional, I placed an order for the "family taco box" I called prior to ordering and asked if this meal was enough to feed 4 adults. I assured it is a lot of food and was informed the details of the meal. I was excited to try this restaurant as it is our first time eating here. We were required to pay over the phone prior to pick up due to the price being $50($48.87). Upon returning home, we were shocked with the lack of food present. I thought to myself there has to be items missing. This was advertised as 12 tacos with all the fixings with chips, salsa, beans, rice. I called the restaurant and politely and respectfully talked to a kind woman. She was apologetic and said she would talk to her manager. A gentleman who did not give his name picked up the phone and immediately began cursing at me and calling me a liar and claiming that I'm trying to get free food and to "fuck off". I calmly said, "sir why are you getting so upset? I am simply trying to understand what happened here. I have no intention of trying to get anything free, I'm excited to try your food, I just think there is a mistake because the amount of food is not what was advertised." The gentleman then proceeds to tell me to go fuck myself and leave a negative review because he quote, "doesn't give a shit". So here is the review. I am saddened by this man's anger, clearly he has something going and today I was his outlet to let steam off. I hope he becomes humbled and treats future paying customers with respect. I unfortunately will never be eating or spending money at this establishment.
Quite the drink 🙌🏼
