Great question! Yes, you can use contactless (tapping credit card or using Apple Pay) to buy public transport tickets. When you arrive in Rome, you’ll likely be at Termini Station. If you can’t get the kiosk to work for you, then you can go to the ticket office. I’m not 100% sure about purchasing tickets on the bus. We are accustomed to using Airbnb and we also read comments and look at the pictures. There was one time when we didn’t do that and it turns out that the host was using neighboring rooms on that floor for his employees who go up very early and made a lot of noise getting ready. We were surprised by the apartment that was so small. We felt duped. Neither the pictures nor the comments gave an accurate description. The host was helpful and had her dad pick us up from the train station because it was raining. When we have negative experiences, we generally do not leave a comment.

As I showed in this video, the best (certainly most economical) way to get to Lido Island from Venice is the water bus. Alternatively, you could take a water taxi, but either way you would be on the open see for about half an hour. Thanks for your comment.
