Hello There, I’m Anita! This is Sightless Living, a Lifestyle Channel for All. Thanks for stopping by. I was born fully sighted with no eye conditions, but now, am totally blind. Have you ever wondered what if you were blind? Well, I never did, as there were NO blind people in My Family, nor any blind friends in my life.
To give back to the Community after navigating the turbulent waters of Sight Loss and finding a happy place, Sightless Living was born. Not as a ‘Look What I Can Do’ Channel, but as a ‘Preparedness’ Channel. Through the Channel’s various inspiring Videos, I share Experiences, Struggles, Parts of My Life, and Blind Journey. I sincerely hope You'll feel inspired to Watch, Engage, Gather helpful Tips & Tricks, and much More, about Life as a Blind Person and Yourself on how resilient You truly are in the midst of a crisis.
Eyesight can be lost in the blink of an eye. I learned, there’s no time to cry, but learn to survive. Why not stick around and join the Fam. 💛

‘Tis the Season for Batteries! Happy Holidays. ☃️🎄
Changing batteries is an important independent living skill for all with visual impairments. One of the common tasks is changing batteries for the many of us who use battery-operated assistive technology on a daily basis.
Hi there, I’m Anita of Sightless Living on TH-cam. Welcome. Many things in our techno-centric society are battery-operated, such as Remote controls, thermostats, PenFriends, color identifiers, electronic games, electronic tools, talking gadgets, bathroom scales, to name a few. All of these require batteries to work. Changing batteries is something many of us do regularly, and I share a quick tip to help you keep your batteries oriented in the proper positioning, especially for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Recording the conversation doesn’t happen unless you actually press the buttons to record the phone call. It just let you know that it’s available so that you can record anything that is coming up or a phone call or anything like that. Not only that when you do press the buttons to record the conversation on the other person side they hear the person say this is a call that is being recorded. So when people who are blind Think that they’re being recorded it’s not it’s just letting you know that that’s something that’s available and that it’s ready to go if you have to record a particular phone call. So it’s just kind of a more of a deterrent when certain people hear it like it’s recording the phone call right away but in reality it doesn’t do that. And then of course it saved it to your notes in an audio file. But of course if you don’t do the research or know how to really do it I could see where that would be concerning!
Thanks for that. Unfortunately, every time my phone rang and I answered the call, it started recording. My callers would sound like they were far away and in return, they told me I sounded like I was underwater. Since I turned the feature off, no one complains that I sound like I'm underwater and my phone responds quicker. I'm running iPhone 13 Pro Max - Waiting for iPhone 17. I have also, since then, deleted the notes folder for recorded calls.
Anita , when I watch any of your video's. It makes me realize how much stuff we ( people who can see ) take for GRANTED . you do the same things we do but its much harder . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.......
I agree. I was sighted up to year 2008, and when I became blind I said holy cow! I realized I took a lot of things for granted being fully sighted. It took me years to find the appropriate help. Luckily, I injured myself one day and had to go to urgent care. That's when things changed and I was given the name of an agency for the Blind. I would definitely say, those born blind have the upper hand as they learn the needed skills from birth. LOL. Thanks for always engaging and commenting. Wish more people on the channel would do that. 😉
@sightlessliving THANK you for your response YOUNG lady . , and I didn't say anything but there is that beautiful blue sweater !! ,, Frank from montana........
Thanks.
Hi, I have a sunu band and I have had mine for 4 years, it was working great when I first got it, it’s any the last minute of months it’s stopped working and I don’t know where I can get it fixed? Thanks
Hi. Welcome to the group of us who have been left hanging by the SUNU Band Team. When SUNU closed its doors, they said they would have “partners” taking over. I have yet to see that happen. Unfortunately, there has been no reaching out to us customers as of yet, but I would advise to hang onto your SUNU Band until we are contacted. You may also check their website to see if they have posted anything on it. It is unfortunate how many people have been left in the lurch by this company. Good luck.
Thank you for that tip. Also you look very beautiful
Thank you.
Anita Blue is your color , you look very nice in that sweater. . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.......

Hi Anita, just catching up on some of your videos. I'm so behind. I love that you showed us the gym and you using the equipment. It's so motivational. ❤
Thanks. I really appreciate your support. 😎
Great video. For the past 3 years I've been constantly decluttering, purging, and organizing. I try to bring nothing new into the house. I realize the older I get the less I need. I don't have a shredder but can take my files to work to get shredded. ❤
That is great. Good for you! 👍 I hate when my paperwork backs up. It’s depressing. And you fall behind so fast. Keep up your good work. ❤️
I used to work on cars with my dad and the toolbox is too big for me to bring to my apartment so we kept it at Mom‘s. I’ve got a bunch of sockets and wrenches and ratchets and Alan riches and mine, but I even got an electric ratchet, so it is the cordless ratchet set plus I got a I Got a cordless electric impact. I got electric drill and I got a saw.
Awesome! That sounds fantastic! 👍 You have quite a collection of tools there.
Anita , do you know who invented Braille ? And when it was invented . after all these years of hanging sheetrock. Me hands are so callised I would never be able to figure that out .THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.....
After celebrating World Braille Day every January 4th, I do know who invented braille and when it was invented. Thank goodness for Louis Braille! When I became blind, I thought I would never be able to read braille. It took me time to learn it and I am still learning. There is also jumbo braille available for those who may have rough hands. Lotion is our friend. LOL. I mentioned some information about Louis Braille in my …Gets a Free Slate & Stylus… video. I believe it was invented in 1824.
@sightlessliving Thank you for your response , if you can do a video on brallie I know I would learn and all your subscribers would probably learn also . hope you read this . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA..........
Thank you. ❤️
This is another good video , young lady ! Thank you for sharing your life with us . I also would. rather go to Lowe's rather then home depot . out here in montana it seems like Lowe's has way more on their shelfs then home depot. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA........PS . keep up the good work....
Thank you. I agree. I think Lowes has better sales as well.
thank you Miss Anita!
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching my dear.

Thank you.
Great tips, especially if you have a lot of keys to keep track of ❤❤❤
Thanks! Enjoyed Walking The Trail. 🙏🏽☺️
@@sightlessliving awwwww thanks so much, we were just walking around the parkway oval path. Do you remember the parkway oval with the duck pond?
Of course I do. LOL. I use to take the kids there and we would feed the ducks.
I heard a story a long time ago about Ray Charles , he said when he first got started in music , when he got paid from the bar owners. They paid him in single dollar bills and told him they were twenty dollar bills. They roped him off ! . with all due respect how do you combat people like that ? Ray continued by saying he only got paid after things like that he only excepted singles easy to count. ( till he got real famous ) THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.......
Excellent question. Fortunately, for the modern day blind person, we have money identifiers. When I became blind in 2008, there was a clunky device where you would insert your U.S. paper currency into and the clunky device would tell you the denomination of the bill inserted. Nowadays, the clunky device, has been streamlined into a smaller unit resembling the size of a thick, chunky credit card. This device also tells you the denomination of your U.S. currency bill. Since some people cannot be honest, I always carry my money identifier around and double check when people hand me money. I have had a couple people try to be slick and got caught. It's unfortunate, but that's the way of the world. If people see an opportunity where they think they can get over, they will try it. Not all people do this, but there is a great minority that will try. Now in the case of Ray Charles, what he did by having people pay him one dollar bills and count them was a great idea. In fact, I heard that was the norm back in the day. Nowadays, no one wants to carry a bunch of one dollar bills around, yet any money at all, which is probably why they developed credit cards. LOL. I did a video on this free device that people can use to identify their you. S. Paper currency. How Do Blind People Identify US Paper Currency, Bank Notes, Dollar Bills? | Money Management Part 2, th-cam.com/video/xgF69kHW1Ao/w-d-xo.html
@@sightlessliving Anita , THANK you for your response , PS. I watched your video on your money machine , I never knew that they had a tool like that. COOL . I guess back in Ray's day there was nothing like that invented yet . those people whocheat blind people like that will pay in the end .cause they can't cheat God !!!! THANK you Frank from montana....
Amen!
Good video young lady ! Love watching your video's. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA......
Thanks for being a true fan and commenting regularly. I wanted to have a giveaway when I had reached 500 subscribers but, I did not get enough comments to have that Giveaway. The numbers just were not there. Hopefully, once we reach 1000 subscribers, and we take a look at the numbers, I'll be able to have my first giveaway. We see a lot of people watch the channel, but are afraid to subscribe. So I truly appreciate your support of the channel. Have an awesome day.
Hey. I'm a sighted person but I seen the title and wanted to know the information in case someone ever needed it. I've worked in public human services for over 20 years now, and I've not come across someone homeless that was also blind, but people fall threw the cracks so you never know. Thanks for the video and I'm going to share it with my husband and he will like it and watch too. Great job, very informative.
Hi there! Thank you for the lovely comment. It is very much appreciated. Yes, from time to time we can fall through the cracks. It’s important to remember, God has our back.

Hi Anita, love the video. I was just binge watching your videos and catching up on some of your videos. They have this robot in the supermarkets by me, and I didn't know what they were for, so thanks for all the helpful information. It looks almost like a tall dark gray number one number with big child like friendly eyes. ❤😊
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by and watching. It’s always a pleasure to read your comments. 😄
This video was quite informative, thank you so much for putting it out there. However, I didn't know about the talking meat thermometer. I've added it to my list of items to get. Thank you again. 1:02:07
You are quite welcome. I love the meat thermometer. However, when I first did this video, it was available for $12 USD, since no one knew about it. After this video, the manufacturer raise the price, which was disappointing. But, for me it is reliable and accurate.
amazing video
Thank you so much. 😄

But that’s your privacy but I love the fact that you try to be as as informative as you can be. And some of the things that you say are so adorable as well!
Thank you. 😊
Hi Anita I like you videos are very useful thank you very much
Thanks so much. 🌟
Is this at Giant Supermarket? I ran into Marty in Easton PA , he went berserk and rolled out of the store traveling at a high rate of speed , the employees had a hard time keeping up with him , I think he quit ! There is a video of this !
No. I ran into this Marty in Connecticut. Stop & Shop also has them. LOL. I think we shot this video in 2019, 2020?? it was before lockdown I think. We found it quite interesting since our supermarkets are boring. LOL.
Spices and seasoning blends I can be also bought at different stores even discount stores. Target and Dollar General, dollar tree, any kind of store that has at least a little food section has spices or blends that you can find.
Thanks for the reminder! I had forgotten about those. 👍
You can get containers at the dollar tree, dollar store, Family Dollar, Dollar General, any kind of store that carries different kind of containers or any kind of discount store can help you out and save you money you just have to think on your feet!
Thanks for the great tips❣️
Sounds yummy! Another great video, Anita! Thank you!

I do not like most of the modern day technology !it is getting scary . Everything In our society is getting smaller and smaller like I phones watches , microwaves the only thing that gets bigger is our TV. sets . We are getting more and more like the TV show " the Jetsons " what ever became of " leaver to beaver " ? I like those days better .. being 70 years old from the Bronx ( originally ) I miss those days . Remember " pulling the fire alarm on the corners in the Bronx ? I can go on and on all day !! THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.........
Yes! LOL. I remember those boxes. The firetrucks would always come for false alarms because people would pull them. But the police would always catch the culprits! Now, being a grown up, I realize those culprits were wasting taxpayers money! But, those were the good ole days. I also remember phone booths on every corner. Fast forward to today, they actually have robots that look like people which also have jobs. There is a robot named Nadine who works as a receptionist. There are robots that help men with infertility. That's really creepy! They have male robots who are fashion models, as well. There is a robot, Sophia, which became the first robot citizen in Saudi Arabia. It belongs to the King. Those robots are called humanoids. They can laugh, talk like us, make facial expressions, it is so creepy! It's actually scary! In fact, it was so creepy, I turned off the documentary. The retail service robots look like a joke since they are so boxy. But the humanoid robots look so life-like, they are scary and terrifying. Especially when they speak. When they improve these first generation bots with AI, who knows what will happen. We're probably already working with robots and never know it. Some robots walk and can do the same movements we do. Can you imagine? Taking a bus or a train, and the conductor or bus driver is a robot? Yikes! What happened to shows like Mr. Ed, My Three Sons, etcetera? There is some chatter about having these humanoids work with the blind, elderly, and disabled. I'll pass! LOL
@@sightlessliving I totally agree with you , I'll just keep on using my cast iron watching reruns of Paladin. THANK you for your response... FRANK
