Welcome to WOMP filter!!!
Why that name?
Read on:
The name "Womp Filter" comes from a high school friend that had a 3rd gen Camaro. He loved his car as you'd imagine and in the effort to gain more horsepower he purchased a drop base for his carb so he could fit a larger height filter under the hood. Unbeknownst to him that drop base was keeping his secondary's from opening. So when he installed the new filter and base it wouldn't go wide open throttle. He had no idea what was going on but informed me at some point that he was installing his old filter cause the car just ran better with it on and it made a WOMP noise.. Thus the name was born...
Later we fixed the drop base with a hammer and re-installed. The car ran the same.. cause 305 with like 2.xx gear ratio lol

Welcome to the only race track I've ever been to thats on a beach! We had some issues at Somoa last year, so this year the plan was to show up, put in our one good run and get on the road. That way we could see the beautiful sites the coast of California has to offer... as usual things don't always go as planned. As long as you're able to drive away from Somoa at the end of the day and there's ...

Welcome to Medford Oregon on Day 0! We get everything unpacked, setup the cars, and calm our nerves on this much needed test and tune day. Last year we showed up very much untested the day of racing, so it was great this year that we had the time to feel the cars and our process' out. Before this event the Nova dyno'd at 665whp and it weighs right at 4000 lbs with me in it. Stephs car dyno'd at...

The moment has finally come! I've been thinking about this build for the last year or more and now we get to actually do it and put it in the car! I DEFINITELY had some challenges along the way. is this still now after 1yr?
Still the best one I own 👌🏻
can you post some footage??
Man i dont think anything can sound like snakebyte unfortunately
Do you have any links for mounting kits for this to the front window
What’s the point of the GPS? And how did you hard wire this? I hate the USB lighter connector.
GPS coordinates are embedded into the video so in the event of an accident you know where it took place and at what speed. The unit is powered by hardwire 12v to USBc adapter 🤙🏽
Great to see ya’ll made it through without any major issues. Going next weekend to grab another touring to continue the swap in. Basically done in the black car but clean title and no 1/4 damage means new touring is a better choice. Gonna take an extra 8 hours and swap everything but i should have an ls touring up and running very soon.
I need to see this thing!
Is 930 better than 900?
No
Looking forward to update!! Got a follow from me man, love the productions.
Is the backup camera weather proof? I want to find something that is weather proof to mount on the outside of the trunk to give me a lower view
It sure is 👌🏻
Stumbled upon your install video while anticipating and researching my G3 install. Great video and editing. 👍🏻🤘🏻
Wait... did that say 391 horses base? That's with a tune and some upgrades? I thought they had more base power than that stock??
To the wheels is different then to the crank as they are rated factory. Add to that some dynos read lower as it just depends on their calibration. It’s important to just go back to the same dyno to measure differences for consistency. Hope that helps!
Any update?
Fixing my Nova in the next video and then towing the BMW in to start for my winter project! 🤙🏽
hell yeah
Nice job!
what did that van run
I don’t remember 😔
Another great video!
Not a bad finish at all. Congrats on pulling off the whole week and setting personal best passes on the last day . . . I think it was PBs for both of you, regardless you both did great.
Yeah it was a long week for sure! It was a great feeling to end with personal bests! Thank you for watching!
Hey man. I have a 2016 mustang GT 6r80. I daily and drive mine everyday. I’m trying to make around the same power. What’s your setup? I just got the G3 a G3 intercooler with 125mm pulley. It’s been 5 months now since this video how has the car been treating you? Also what BOV did you guys go with? Sounds awesome!!
Have you dyno’d the mustang since the ESS kit ?
Yes it at the end of the install video :) cooled down with no intake on a VERY conservative 91 piss gas tune it made 600whp
@@WompFilterProductions thank you! Just went back & saw, looks like i missed the very end. Looking at putting one of these kits on my 16 GT
I dont think you'll regret it!
Dang it! I was totally going to say that the tire cut was from the wrench. Lol.
Its totally possible!
Does it have WiFi to download videos directly to the mobile phone?
This model does not.
Boiling the fluid can definitely cause pedal fade. Hopefully the heat wrap took care of it in the short term. Something to add to the list for checking out and possible upgrade down the road. Overall, not a bad day for both of you, decent licks, cars are still running and it was a beautiful day to cruise down the i5 corridor. Looking forward to seeing how things wrap up.
Great content!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much!!
Hello, I recently got this as a gift (second hand) and it didn’t come with the manual. I inserted a Micro SD but a message pops up saying “Card error”. Do you know if there are specifics to the Micro SDs that can be used? Thank you, great video
Hi, i tried the one that came with mine and received card errors. So i bought a high speed name brand and still receive card errors. I've all but given up on it and use it as a glorified backup mirror at this point.
They did an amazing job installing the blower wow! My g3 will be here in a few days . I can’t wait to install it ! 2019 10r80 5.0
Cool intro!
Thanks dude 🤙🏽 I was worried it was a little too “cinematic”!
@@WompFilterProductions Nothing wrong with working a little art in here and there.
That second lick looked good, 1-2 shift definitely sounds a little "iffy" but it's working. Only thing that jumps out at me is how fast the front of the car comes down after the launch, really looks like could use a slower compression rate so the weight of the car doesn't transfer so aggressively and stays over the rear longer. Something else that might really help (don't hate me for saying it), a shorter shifter. The wrench is cool but it's so long that the throw between 1st and 2nd that you hand has to travel is pretty long, shorting the wrench up by 3-4 inches and you shifts will get faster and more crisp. Oh and damn GoPros drive me nuts some times, they overheat so easy. I wish there was a better option. I have 6's which drove me up a wall, a little while back updated to 11's. The 11's are better cameras, much better mics, and have better 'fancy' features . . . that said, they still do all that dumb crap to that just makes you want to violently smash them!
Thats not a terrible idea about adding compression. I was just looking for set it and move on settings and while I'm positive they could be improved, a 1.5 60 foot is pretty decent for a traditional style clutch. I 100% agree on the shifter. its SOOO long. Ive contemplated just making a racing shifter for it thats more manageable... the other aspect is the amount of leverage it has on the synchro's and Im pretty sure thats just one of the reasons its acting the way it is currently.. I've seen a ton of good deals on gopro's recently. I may just have to bite the bullet and replace these "old" (they really dont feel old to me...) 7's and go newer... Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate your time and expertise on this!
@@WompFilterProductions not sure I would call any of it expertise. Just some outside observations. I also don't mind leaving the comments either, you know, gotta help out that YT algorithm, try and get you more pennies from the videos to slightly help fund the hobby. Definitely pick up a newer GP on a deal and test it out. My 11's are worlds better than my 6's as far as quality of footage and audio. The better the original footage is the easier and fast the editing is. That is really where the new camera has paid off.
I had the same issue there, I rolled back and did not get a slip. This day was a mess, reruns all mixed up before my class even ran.
That sucks :/ While I do love the old school feel of that track it was a mess all around.....i think with as popular as redwood rally is getting, venue's like that aren't really viable for too much longer...
@@WompFilterProductions Sadly I think you are right. Great little track, but there is no way the rally can grow anymore and still keep going there.
Logan has a good-looking stride. He could be a runner. Use the line lock to prevent rolling out of the beams. Don't need it for water burnouts.
Funny he's in cross country this year and has been loving it! I did think about the line lock for that reason but having one more thing to manage hasn't historically worked great for me lol
@WompFilterProductions I did 4 years of cross country in high school and was not very good at it. However, I can recognize better runners.
Way to go! Hope things keep going well... see ya at Woodburn!
Did you cut out the part where you have to install the 6ft harness from the trunk to the front of the car?
The only harness you might have to install front to rear is for the rear camera. My car did not need a extra harness but I have seen some that do
You only need that long harness if you have the factory navigation system.
Okay to start. Overall, not a bad day, bad licks are gonna happen, just gotta roll with the punches and keep after it. Couple thoughts: 1) I don't think the Mustang likes shifting up near the rev limiter or on the limiter. I'd target a bit lower shift point, (obviously take that with a grain of salt as it's based on what I can see in the video not reality). 2) The clutch on the Nova, probably bypassing internally (internal leak). This is the only thing that would explain not having a loss of fluid but loss of pedal pressure. My gut would lean towards the throughout bearing over the master because they tend to see more abuse. Lastly, you're both killing it. Looking forward to seeing what happens on Day 3.
I would have suggested that Stephanie try pulling up a few more feet past the water to do the burnout and then after the burnout put it in Drive and let it shift itself.
What does everyone think is going on with the clutch in this thing?? It’ll be fine one minute and before I get up to race it’s spongy! That is unless I sit and pump it forever
The clutch slave and/or master cylinder rubber may be getting hard and less flexible due to age. When you pump it, maybe it heats up and works?
I prefer a mechanical clutch linkage.
If it was a track only car, I'd say get a powerglide.
@@giovanhagarthere isn't a mechanical option like old school with this transmission...
@@chrisdortzbach7945 I know that.
Helen and I stayed one night at the Eureka Red Lion.
Hey, great video, do you have a link to the bracket you used for installing the camera?

Yes they did 🤙🏽
All in all... your ahead of us guys that are watchin.. Way to go Ian. Bucket list stuff dude.. Right on! Keep it up!
Thank you very much! The perspective is hard to get a handle on… schedule always feels like go go go for a goal and then you get it and it’s like. Woah… what now 😳
Medford is about .2 seconds slower than the other tracks due to elevation and heat...but its a great track ...
Does your car really weight 4k lbs? Couple good licks. Overall good day 1. Nice little wheel pop for the Nova and the wife getting the start line figured out. Only gonna get better. Oh and loose throttle body, yeah that'll do some weird stuff!
It sadly does even with an aluminum block. The 4 gallon trunk tank w/ 1” lines, air conditioning, blower and its accessories, full sound deadening, roll bar, and full interior/stereo and my ass… Pretty wild all things considered as stock they are reported to weight under 3k 😳 That tnt really helped us show up and get something done day 1! When she did that burnout I was so proud lol just wait till day 5 🤣
@@WompFilterProductions Well if you would just hurry up and post the whole week I'd binge it out! haha Man I believe it, weight adds up quick. Might be worth exploring ways that you could cut a few lbs without giving up the creature comforts. You might be surprised how much weight you could drop just by optimizing things like wire routing to get rid of excess wire, copper adds up quick. I know for certain these cars can easily weigh in under 3k with all iron small blocks in them. Shoot my wife's '64 Chevelle crosses the scales at just under 3300lbs right now. Anyway, really looking forward to see how the rest of the week goes. Oh and tell the wife no to be so worried about the helmet, we all look a little goofy with helmets on and anyone who says anything can pound sand. They are just jealous she is such a bada$$!
@@OneMoreBolt thank you for the support! I will tell her, again 😋

How was it at night?
Its great at night honestly! If its too bright it does have adjustment and you can also just turn the screen off easily with the button on the bottom middle.
Guys who tried it is it good during the night (light glare) and what about brightness during the day? Cause i have Chinese mirror and it’s not bright and bad quality in dark areas
Its great at night honestly! If its too bright it does have adjustment and you can also just turn the screen off easily with the button on the bottom middle. As for daytime use, its bring enough for my old car but i dont have a sunroof. I could imagine it would be a little more difficult in direct sunlight but not much worse. hope that helps!
@@WompFilterProductions thanks man thats very helpful
Does the camera need to be hardwired or just connected to display ?
sorry i dont understand what you're asking. camera has to be connected to screen and have power to work.
Bro your intro is crazy😂😂😂
Girl, don't trip on that helmet. You can make a paper bag look good! I prefer Morgan Wallen, but Billy will do in a pinch. I'm not trying to be disrespectful with the helmet comment.
Thanks! 😊
Not a bad shake down day. Both cars laid down some good numbers which had to feel good after the tire killing trip down. Looking forward to seeing how the week goes.
Yea it mostly went great and it was really nice to have that shake down event! The PB's felt amazing because you just never know how things will go till you get the rubber to the track!
Billy Ray the granny shifter
Ole Billy does great! She at least shows up and sometimes thats the hardest part!
Great video, the most entertaining moment is when Stephanie said I blacked out. Oh, the advantage of less weight. My old altered ran 6.36 @ 105 in the eighth, and the Nova ran basically the same mph. In the 1/4 mile, the altered ran 10.18 @ 125mph, and you had more mph, but higher et. You obviously have more horsepower in those cars. I had to build the engine to stay above 10 seconds because the old square tube chassis wouldn't certify for our NHRA track. It was a 468 bbc with the smallest Crower non roller solid cam I could order, PG, 12 bolt 4.10 and 14X32 slicks. I think Stephanie's first run may have been ruined by the burnout. I believe she was still in a wet area doing the burnout instead of pulling further past the water and doing it. I believe in doing a 3 second burnout at low rpm. Wish I would have flown out to watch.
Haha! But you know how it is when there just too much going on, our brains just black out! This is why we test :P I wish you could have come out also! Maybe next year? Craig and Jason may try and make it next year as well!
