I’ve enjoyed your unboxing video, Shane. Well done. I agree with another poster who suggested that an external cross-over contributed to the sound quality of the Klein mini-monitors. I assume you will isolate these cross-overs on SA CSA 1 isolation pucks. But that is likely not where the magic sauce of the F&F Klein mini-monitors lies. It’s the F&F slate cabinets, coupled with smart driver implementations.
Hi Dan, Yes, I have isolated the speakers on CSR 3s to great effect. I've actually tried isolating both the crossovers and the speakers. I've taken notes for my final thoughts video.🎧🙂👍
I’m planning on isolating my JR150 monitors with a set of 3 CSA 1’s per channel. That’s one reason why I needed to plug in another order for those with Josh.
@dragocelander6671 Excellent Dan, I'll be talking about what happened when I put the CSA 3s underneath the Klein's in my final thoughts video. I'll also be interested in how you find them when you do the same.🎧🙂👍
@ Shane, it’s been on my to do list for quite a while. Nobody really using the CSA units under monitors where it’s impractical to use the bigger AUVA units dedicated to floor-standing speakers.
@dragocelander6671 Yes, I agree, Dan. I will be talking to the boys in an interview coming up soon on a collaboration I'm starting with Vinyl latte. Louis and I will be starting a series interviewing industry heavyweights around the world in specific areas audiophiles need to consider a little more than they do. It should be an interesting series, hopefully with some great information for everybody interested in the hobby. I will be asking the boys about using Auva CSA's under small monitors like I'm doing with these right now.🎧🙂👍
🖤The Klein's are a very nicely put together package but I don't really think they punch above their weight (pardon the pun) given their almost AUD$7000 price point. 🤔After all is said and done, there's only so much a 100mm speaker can do.. F & F have done a good job, but then again, your gear and room isn't too shabby either..!
Yes, you make some good points there, and I will be talking about some of those in my final thoughts video.🎧🙂👍
🖤😊4:10 always give the gear a good shake.. just to make sure nothing's loose inside.. by the way, did you hear that rattle? ♣🤔someone mentioned that slate behaves like timber because of the sedimentary layers having a similar effect to woodgrain and it's natural resonance damping..
Hi there, yes, I did notice that little raffle it was the right-hand binding post that was screwed all the way out and was rattling when I wound it back in it was fine. By the way, well observed.🎧🙂👍
Why do audio reviewers have terrible rooms ?
In what way?
I sit just outside of near-field. My background is as a sound engineer, and so I am very comfortable in that position. I have almost a totally flat response from 20 to 20,000 Khz, so I would hardly call this an acoustically bad room mate.
@@shanestephenson8423 dude that might be true but your listing position is at the back wall , 3 meters from the Wilson’s , don’t get me wrong you have awesome gear but let’s be honest it would sound even better in 20 by 15 room , so the speakers can breath!
@@Simplyveej , how about only being 3 meters away from the Wilson speakers and couch against the wall , those speakers need at least a 15 by 18 foot room .
@StuartKarlson-qn8pj Incorrect. When reviewing equipment and listening to high-end gear, the last thing you want to do, which is just about everybody does, is put that equipment in a large room. There are so many issues that come every time with rooms like that. For instance, room modes and acoustic anomalies which are just so difficult to get right. I have yet to hear a big room that I like the sound of. Why do you think sound engineers listen in the near field. I listen to high-end gear in an almost flat room, just outside of the near field. If you do that, then you will really hear what the equipment can do as long as the room is well treated acoustically. Because by setting closer to the speakers, you take the room out of the equation, which is always the biggest downfall to listening to sound pressure in an enclosed space. This whole thing about letting speakers breathe is laughable imo because it generally creates more problems than it fixes. I've had 35 years of experience in high-end audio, both as an engineer, selling the stuff and reviewing and listening to high-end gear. Everybody that comes into my room and listens to my system is dumbfounded at just how the room is not there, they cannot hear the boundaries. That is due to correct room setup, correct acoustic treatment, and as far as I'm concerned, not listening to what the majority of so-called experts say is the correct way to set a room up.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
@VinylLatte Thanks, mate. I'm writing notes feverishly😁
SPIRIT OF EDEN IMHO the best album ever made . Goosebumps❤
I'm pleased you're enjoying it👍🎧🙂🙏
@@dalian1993 I agree. A work of musical genius.
@@blacknad So pleased you love this masterpiece like I do. 38 years on,it still moves me immeasurably every time I listen to it.
nothing like 3" silver
@martinreynolds7025 True Martin, I've got a couple of sets of pure silver cables, and I love them.😍 As you would know, there is silver, and there is silver.🎧🙂👍
You should try Mickeys
GM ☕️🍩🦘 The complexity of the outboard crossover on these little guys is astounding…I’m going to audition them for myself ..as a potential future system at my home . Thanks for the opportunity to become educated 😊
You're welcome, mate. Stay tuned for the final thoughts video. I think that will only focus your intent further.🎧🙂👍
GM☕️🍩🦘 I’m a fan of a good “bookshelf “…really a “stand mount” set up 👍👍
Yeah, me too, mate. There's a sense of real coherency from a well designed two-way.🎧🙂
GM☕️🍩🦘 You’ve reached the point where it’s almost impossible for your room and system to sound “bad” ….👍👍☕️
@carminedesanto6746 Thanks, Carmine 🙏 I guess what I like about my room is it is a truth telling environment if something doesn't sound good it's quite easy to hear it because there's no room modest or interference that get in the way or smear what's actually coming out of the speakers which makes my job as a reviewer a lot easier. These little desktop monitors are something very special. I think it's translating across in the videos. I'll have a lot more to say about why that is in my final thoughts video.👍🎧🙂
So glad this short was suggested to me. What a cool looking set up and one of my favourite bands. Nice.
Awesome, man. I'm glad you enjoyed it. There's another track from that album I've released as well.👍🎧🙂
I've only just seen this unboxing video Shane and things are becoming clear as to why these sound so stunning for a diminutive desk top speaker, the enclosure and drivers are top quality, but its the outboard crossovers and high quality cable with neutrik connectors that i am super impressed with, even in ultra high end speakers you don't see outboard crossovers, and including the quality cable with the length of cable to take full advantage of the outboard configuration and position the crossovers very close to the amp with short runs of cable connecting them. It can't be underestimated how much improvement this makes, they can use bigger higher quality components in the crossover, remove them from any vibration generated by the speakers getting into the crossovers components and muddying the sound. These are some ultra high end miniature speakers with no stone left unturned and rockets the brands credibility through the roof. Awesome mate 👌👍👍👍
@staceymangham Hi Stacey, I agree with all of your comments about. I'll have much more to say about all of this in my final thoughts video. 🎧👍🙂
Indeed, “no stone left unturned.” 😂
Those little guys sound smooth. What amplifier are you driving them with?
@Phloored yeah typical Fischer & Fischer sound profile very smooth sounding and non fatiguing. I'm using my Rotel Mitch rhb 10 power amp with the mpd-8 as the preamp.👍🎧
Hi Shane that's the best I have heard them sound, they have always sounded good, but I think the reinforcement from room boundaries is really helping., they still sound very coherent which you expect from good quality small drivers in a non resonant enclosure. I'm assuming you are indicating no subwoofer yet ?
@staceymangham Hi Stacey, correct no subwoofer in play at this stage, just those two speakers. And yes, they are definitely improved by being back close to the front wall, and the Stack Audio Auva eqs have made a real difference to the way they sound. I'll have more to say about that in my final thoughts video.👍🎧
Excellent album.
@weust2672 Yeah, I agree it's one of my reference albums it's just a beautifully natural recording.🙂👍🎧
@@shanestephenson8423 absolutely. I also see I commented under someone else's. Didn't mean to do that.
@@weust2672 all good 👍🙂
I need this in my man cave with a J and in complete darkness right now
Small drivers have a certain coherence when done right like this Shane, it's easy to think they have no right to sound this good
@staceymangham Yeah mate, I'm quite blown away. I'll have a lot more to say in my final thoughts video, but it's safe to say it's going to be very favourable.🎧🙂👍
GM ☕️🍩🦘 I had a chance to hear the C1 Stand Mount speakers from Børresen….they blew my mind !😵💫
Im using a pair of Kali 6 nearfield monitors.
@@randyallen4959 cool👍
Hey Shane, these diminutive little heroes can rock that's for sure they remind me of the underrated wharfedale Vivaldi's which were in an inert heavy small composite enclosure with no signature, and paired with a top quality amplifier and subwoofer really perform an image like a champion. I have no doubt these will be jaw droppers
@staceymangham Yeah, Stacey jaw-dropping in the word🎧👍
These sound better than the Wilson audios!
@Simplyveej They are very good, but we must remember they are desktop monitors they can't produce the bass the Wilsons make. They really are totally different speakers.
I have a fascination with Fischer & Fischer. And that is despite having never heard them. I think its the whole slate cabinet thing. These sound pretty amazing and they look tiny.
@Kinsella3 Gi there, yes, they sound amazing in my room as well. They have no right to sound as good as they do they literally are tiny desktop speakers with a 3 1/2 inch mid bass driver.👍🎧
Interesting. The Epos 7n and Elac Vela 403.2 and Quadral 35 and Menuet and Triangle Titus are also great speakers to try 🤔
Shane, what’s the frequency response spectrum look like for the Klein monitors in your room? How low is the -3dB bass registers?
Hi Dan, I've changed the position just for some experimenting, and having them backed into the front wall, I'm seeing 60 HZ flat comfortably. Which is bonkers for these little speakers. I hope it's translating, because they sound very good in this room. 🎧👍
Double-stacked record clamps, with your Kuzma RC on top of the SA Serene Stabilizer?
@dragocelander6671 I'm just running some experiments.
My heart sails with you, in this musical dream, Christopher…Thank you for “being there”… God bless you…❤😊
@@rochellecaffee1417 it's my pleasure. Thanks for listening.🙏🙏🙏
Shane what is the extra weight? atop the Serene, does it add anything to the mix
@johnharrigan8770 Hi John, I'm just experimenting so I can come up with an answer for that question.
Sounds great. How much are the speaker stands? 😂
@jolonf lol😂 I was just thinking, where am I going to put these speakers in this room where I know they'll work. So that's where they ended up. They are essentially sitting on slabs of resin with Stack Audio Auva 100s underneath them. They should be pretty well isolated😁🎧👍
Fischer & Fischer, german not english....not Fisher....
Thank you. Yes, noted. The text autocorrected without me noticing before I posted it. The only way to fix it is to pull the video down and edit everything and re-launch the video.👍
wow are those totally passive F & F's....what amps?...the Vitus?
Yes, totally passive with separate crossover networks, simply because they couldn't fit them in such a small cabinet. These things are really mind-boggling. I'm using my Rotel Michi Poweramp with the playback designs mpd-8 as the preamp. 🎧👍
@@shanestephenson8423 -awesome!
I can only imagine how much better it gets as you go up the F&F range
Yes, it's hard to believe that that is their entry level. But it must be said there are amazing electronics behind those speakers, and they're in a well treated acoustically neutral room, so we are hearing them at their best, but their best is nothing short of amazing.🎧👍
Sounds incredible given its diminutive package! Only the F&F Klein monitors are playing, correct?
Yes, Dan, correct that was all you were listening to in the room.
Shane impressive, did you use any subwoofer if not even more impressive
Hi John, no, just those little speakers that was it. absolutely amazing.👍🎧👌
Sure is @@shanestephenson8423
Quel groupe ! Talk Talk. Très bon enregistrement sur Wilson Audio ?
Yeah, it's amazingly dynamic and just an excellent pressing.🎧🙂👍
why is it that speaker demos sound great on my speakers ,ill stick with mine i think....
@705johnnyboy lol, that's cool. It sounds like you're happy with your speakers. These are quite amazing in relation to just how much sound comes out of such a tiny little desktop speaker. I couldn't say no when they were offered to me for review.👍🙂🎧
Hi Shane, what a fantastic sounding miniature speaker punching well above its weight. I garher the Rotel Michi is powering it, a good match with the speakers. They would sound huge with a properly blended subwoofer, i understand why you didn't pair the Wilson sub with it, having to alter all the settings, higher crossover point, shallower slope, and different gain. Price Au $
@staceymangham Hi Stacey, yes, you're quite correct about all of your above comments around the subwoofer settings. Plus, I'm just reviewing these speakers, so what you're hearing is them and only them. But I think I will have a fiddle and integrate the sub just to be able to talk about that as an option for people in my final thoughts video.👌🎧👍🙂
Morning from tropical Scotland 😁 I hope everyone is safe and well 😁 this one for me then it's the 2nd one 2nd and the first one is my least favourite, having a guess I would say transparent inakustic and lastly the stealth, anyway please stay safe and look after yourselves 😁
@paulhallford1904 Thanks, Paul.🙏🎧👍🙂
You're welcome 😁
And please don't forget to wrap up warm, boots padded jacket and scalf, don't want you to get cold this time of year 😋😋😋😋🤣🤣🤣🤣
GM☕️🍩🦘 Schack 😊
name of the song please
@mingfeipan8692 Hi, Sorry I'm not in front of my tablet to see it on Roon. If you have Shazam, you will see it come up there.👍🎧
Schack Matt by Riltons Vanner 😊
@carminedesanto6746 Thanks, Carmine 🙏🙏🙏
She sings in Swedish!
Sounds very nice. Is this with or without your subwoofer?
@weust2672 Hi, without the sub. Just those little speakers.
Great to see the old RHB 10 stretching its legs, Nice little speakers!
@TonyMartello lol, yeah Tony, I thought I'd pull the old girl out even though it's got all new insides in it pretty much, and it sounded wonderful once it warmed up. Yeah, it's an unbelievable big sound from such a small little desktop speaker.👌🎧👍
Sounds great!!!!
@VinylLatte Yeah, that harmonica is crazy good. It just leaps out in front of you.🎧🙂
Good day Shane, wanted to know which product you preferred under your amp. Stack audio or live vibe?
@ericelmore887 Hi Eric, out of the two you mentioned, they're both quite close, but I would say I'm settling with Stack Audio. I think it's made a slightly bigger difference.👌👍
I've had great results with Stack Audio isolation products, both with my speakers and under numerous components. Great bang for buck stuff and highly recommended! 👍 Thanks Shane.
@toddt5562 You're very welcome. There'll be more to say about the Serene stabiliser very soon. I'm putting it through its paces as we speak.🎧😁👍
My preferred cable on this selection is 8>9>>7. Tracks 8 and 9 excelled at bass definition and control, where the vocals and soundstage displayed greater resolution, “shimmer,” and dimensionality on track 8 over track 9. Track 7 seemed to have lower bass definition and control relative to the other two tracks. I had a difficult time trying to discern the identity of the musical instruments in the lower frequencies of track 7.
Thanks Dan great comments there.👌
