I have the tefuawe lens. That exact one. I love it. You can low amp TIG weld with it and I feel like it’s a really solid lens. I will say after about a year I noticed the auto darkening time slowing down slightly which I didn’t like.
Finally! Thank you a video that actually talks ab lenses
You need to check out the port of shell welding hoods they're very light they're just like a pipeliner but those lift lens that you add to the pipeliner makes them weigh 10 porta shell doesn't weigh anything it's kind of like the old Huntsman paper Shields I think it's made by Northern Tool Porta shell and port a shell baby
I think the singles 2:40 is just waterproof so if you sweat in it it doesn't ruin your lens or if you leave it out in the rain or something you know how we like to leave our Shields out or forget about them during quitting time
The only thing I like about the Radnor is that it Shades down to 2.5% all other shade down to three
If you want to Shield that doesn't weigh a ton that pipeliner is going to weigh 10 lb on your head once you put one of those install flip lenses in it go get you a port of shell baby for the shell online I think it's Northern Tool but it's a port of shell or a port of shell baby weighs half the white then this thing's going to White when he puts that lens in it
i love mine
The WeldTube adapter is kinda nice considering you don't have to cut the front of your hood. But I don't like how it mounts. The little clips that hold it on become loose and the attachment starts to fall off from the hood on one side or the other when you're looking down, causing it to allow light in. I just tightened them and clamped them down with pliers. It is convenient if you just need to throw one on and don't want to modify the hood though.
Too many people are having their lens fall out of the WeldTube adapter. Apparently, you have to glue it in or something or risk having your auto-darkening lens bounce off the concrete.
I just dropped $130 on a auto 2x4
Its a great build but not much help since you dont tell the dimensions or what material or anything!!!
Does anyone know why they say the weld tube lens adapter doesn’t work with the finer pipeliner hood?
Where did you get the helmet knobs
I liked the weldtube one alot. Sadly after 6 months it doesnt stay on anymore. Just bought a sellstrom for something more long term.
If it looks a lot brighter on camera, it isn't protecting you from IR very well.
What machine and rods were you using in this video?
I’ve done a lot of research on lenses and have narrowed down to these two lenses in this video. Which would you prefer over the other? The arc one versus the tefuawe auto lens??
What size lens does the weldlife one use
Helpful - thanks!
Find gas less is to bright and hard to see the weld
I just got my weld tube flip adapter and I love it! if they can make one for the pancake that would be great. I added a miller or Jackson one to my pancake and it's just really heavy and uncomfortable on the nose.
First and foremost, perfect video. Thanks for doing this. I agree with you, that weldtube is much better. I myself only use passive helmets and have been dabbing into many different types. I use the Foroney Bandit III as of now. The lid is comfortable but my major issue is the front flip opens when looking down. So I bought small 🧲 's to lock it in place with crazy glue lol it works.. I'm still on the look out for that 1 gem of a passive helmet, somthing that will blow me away with style and all round comfort.
I’ve used dozens and the best I’ve found is the Lincoln brand I use the 2x4 size because I’m a pipeline welder and wear a pancake
I had a radnor and didn’t get blurry I’m pretty sure they are the same as the singles by arc one, same laboratory name on the lenses
Very informative review, thanks! Do you know if the Arcone Tradesman is any good for low-amp TIG?
Do not recommend weld tubes flip up adapter at all if you want to break an expensive piece of glass the plastic retaining clip if just too flimsy and the metal clips will slide off had to mash them in with pliers to stay on but after a while the get loose and start to slide out again letting light in also with the retaining clip it it needs some re designing and extra security if just those two slots are what’s keeping it in place
very nice. i know it's tailored to your setup but hire much did you spend on materials? i really want to know if it's worth it and if there is any savings? i see two locally for sale at $50 and $60 but i don't have as much weight as you
opticool fixed shades, vintage view welding lens are two really good fixed shade lenses.
Ребята вот у вас все всегда круто сделано, не то что у нас в России, одно говно и китайский ширпотреб
That sellstrom adapter is actually replacement parts for their 280 series helmet I'm actually getting ready to buy one of their 290 series helmets this will be my second one of those I really like them
Hey, thank you for an awesome review. I have one question though. Does WeldTube's adapter flick down easily? That is, can you flick it down just by nodding your head, or do you have to use your hand? I ask because people said you can' flick Sellstrom
Does the weld tube adapter fit on a pancake hood?
Truarc blue or gold with the pipeliners cloud carbon fiber sugerscoop chopped.
I have a lens collection that totals well over $1000 and I will say, the cheap ones work but if you do a lot of welding, invest in a good lens. It’s well worth it.I have only noticed that thing with the radnor lens on a Chinese cheap 6$ lens. Has a similar view too. Most of my auto lenses don’t have too much use though, I like passive most of the time. My variable shade techniweld 2.0 is great. Shade 5, 8-13 variable with all sorts of settings for speed and sensitivity. And it’s just as thin as any other single shade auto lens not thick like most other variable shade lenses. And it’s got buttons not knobs too so you don’t need fancy inner clear lenses. I also have a tefuawe gold lense I paid around 90 for. Shade 10.5 and I love it. It’s an excellent lense that’s held up well Vintage view are my favorite passive. Super good quality. Especially the black dahlia. I just got the new Lincoln Viking 2x4c passive to try out. No arc shots of it or really reviews of it so we shall see how it is I guess. Hope it’s good at around $100
How are you liking the Lincoln lens?
We need an update on the Lincoln lens breh
One question would those lenses be able to fit through my original sugar scoop/pipelined hood lense?
Yes they all fit the sugar scoop with the exception of the lincoln viking of course.
@@Parttimeweld ooh that’s very good news, and oh really?the Lincoln Viking lense would too?and keep up the amazing content is so helpful and amazing!!!
Why not just try the welding helmet below. It is under 1pound and lens is flush with helmet front.
My Weldcote Ultraview Plus is pretty damn clear and has the tint more on the blue and white scale, which is suuuuuper clear! The whole hood was like $175. EDIT: I use this hood primarily for TIG, and different processes will have different needs, but it is super clear for me and I use it more than my $450 Miller.
I like the ArcOne singles 240, best I've ever seen 👍
I'VE NEVER WENT WRONG WITH SINGLES....16 YEARS AND I'M STILL USING ONE. 2 IN 16 YEARS... SHADE 9 OR 10.
top
Just ordered the weld tube adapter we will see how it goes.
Thanks for the video. I have used the Tafua…. Bought their adjustable lens(not their stainless model). I found it was slow to darken and I got a fast flash every time but it was clear while welding. The company emailed me after my review and said that their adjustable lens with the stainless cover is much faster. This would be a good one to get a decent review as their is not a good review on TH-cam for the speed of the darkening. I use the Lincoln 4C adjustable and it has been the best one I have tried and I have tried all the top brands with except the Tradesman.
Thanks for the suggestion. Ive been using the 4c as well and love it!
Just got it today. The store finally had them in stock.
American optics made the best cool blue quit making them years ago so sad
They’re still few and far between. $350 for mine. Shade 12
I have the sellstrom as well on my sugar scoop. The extra wieght is noticeable but the worst thin with mine is the clear lens retainer inside the helmet keeps breaking and will barely hold the inside plate in. They are cheap and to get a new one you have to purchase the whole kit again. Last one was about 50 bucks now.
Buy a stainless one from castle weld shop and you will never buy another
Be careful with the sellstorm because after a couple of months it starts to not close all the way and letting light in
Heaviest should be on the top shelf
I already bought the Bauer 20V Jigsaw but I haven't used it yet! I already have many of the Bauer 20V tools! I'm glad I watched this video because I didn't buy the blades, my old Craftsman jig saw uses U shaped blades so I'm going back to buy the T shaped blades tomorrow!
I dig the weld tube I’m not big on having to hack up my helmet I might look into that kinda funny as a fabricator I hate to modify my stuff 😂 when I literally do that for a living
I’ve had the sellstrom for years, I prefer welding with no flip front but in the field it makes life alot easier
