    He’s not teaching that there’s an Israel within Israel. He’s countering the unbelieving Jews’ theology that God only loves them and has cast out all Gentiles from his kingdom. Paul’s teaching is that no, all Gentiles are also invited to his kingdom. Here in Romans 9, Paul is starting off by saying if you Jews think that God only invites some people then it wouldn’t even be you guys. You Jews know from your own history that unbelieving ones among us were always cast out, right? And aren’t you Jews who are arguing with me right now the unbelieving ones? And aren’t the Gentiles, whom you hate, the ones who are actually believing? So who right now is the elder son? And who is the younger? Who is Esau and who is Jacob? Based on who is believing, IF your doctrine of election were true, wouldn’t the Gentiles be the elect ones and not you?

    It sounds like you both have a very limited understanding of Conditional Immortality (Annihilationism). I would encourage you to look up the Rethinking Hell ministry as well as watch some video's by Chris Date. I've also done extensive research on final judgment and wrote an article on it if either of you are open to having a dialog. Scripture Says: God can destroy us completely. (Matthew 10:28) The unrighteous will be destroyed. (James 4:12; 2 Peter 2:12; 2 Peter 3:7) The unrighteous will perish. (John 3:16) The unrighteous will die. (Romans 6:23) There is an end to the wicked. (Philippians 3:19; Hebrews 6:8) The last enemy will be destroyed. (1 Corinthians 15:24-28) The unrighteous will be consumed. (Hebrews 10:27) Immortality is an exclusive attribute of God (1 Timothy 6:16) that He gives as a gift to those who put their faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:14-16). The lake of fire is the second death, rather than eternal life in torment. (Revelation 21:8)

      Hey, thanks for taking the time to give us that information. I (Michael here) think the chances of us agreeing are low. But, I want to follow scripture wherever it takes me. I’d like to hear about how you respond to arguments against the teleological argument from “chance”. Someone might posit the “odds” of any deck of cards being individually layed out in a particular order as 1/52 x 1/51 x 1/50 x … = an astronomically small number, but if you did this exact thing, you would get some combination of the 52 cards necessarily. Showing that sometimes, things that have a very small chance of happening actually come to pass. With translating this to the universe, people will talk about having 14 billion years to find the right combination for life, and also talk about a potential multiverse to increase their odds to find the right makeup for life to start/end up where we are today. While I think this takes an incredible amount of faith to believe, I’d like to have something more concrete to respond with. I’d just like to hear how you respond to arguments like this.

    Regarding the question at the 39:00 time. What is loosely called the spiritual realm is very complex. There are all sorts of details that get overlooked and ignored. The Sons of God who did not keep their first estate being locked in chains of gloomy darkness. God Judging the Gods of Egypt at the plague of the first born being killed. There is also a bible verse that talks about Jewish people worshiping gods that are not God and gods their fathers did not know. Also the verse that talks about our fight is not against flesh and blood and than goes on to list 4 different domains. (Domain being my word.) There is the sea of the deep. Which is separate from the sea. There are at least 3 Heavens. In that someone was taken up to the 3rd Heaven. There are so many interesting details in the bible. i often wonder if people spend most of their time reading the Bible, blindfolded.

This pattern is what i have come to expect from people who use their intellect to support their emotional stances. You could have given 3 to 5 of the best counter points to the narrative. Making it easy for everyone to have a good starting point. Instead you want to make sure people know that you are active in academia. What i have learned from academia. Is that any narrative pushed by academia, should not be trusted. The very nature of academia is the belief that we are wrong and are trying to do better. Yet too many people try to wave the academia banner as if it is absolute proof that their opinion is unquestionable. Circling back to the original statement. Did you go to argue about the nuance of definition instead of talking about the broader implication? When looking up your articles. One of the first things i saw, talked about the detailed nuance of rephaim in the discussion of nephilim. You have so far left all of this untouched. i have know several people that when they did something wrong and were confronted about it. Would bring up 100 excuses just to keep from being honest. They dodge everything they don't like while insisting on staying on topic about irrelevant points that they use. What i found most distasteful about the articles. Is that they relied on 1000 excuses. It was the same poor manor and logic. They are not made by someone trying to get to the truth. They were written by someone trying to defend their emotional feelings. i'll make up an example but it will be accurate in feel and nature, to your articles. Bible verse XYZ clear states the nephilim was sitting. According to Heisers, nephilim are giants. We know this cannot be clearly deduced from the scripture, due to a sitting individual being very hard to tell how tall they are. Therefore we can ignore every consideration for nephilim and any potential offspring being giants. Due to the indisputable evidence that a sitting person in verse XYZ would be difficult if not impossible to judge their true height.

    Nephilim is pronounced nef-ehl-eem. It comes from the root nefal, meaning something along the lines of "fallen" or "corrupt" and the masculine plural ending -im (pronounced eem). I believe nefal was most commonly used historically to refer to animals that were considered ritually impure due to birth defects.

    Regarding the pre vs post flood appearance of Nephilim, I’ve heard the opinion that the scared spies of Israel (Not Caleb and Joshua) were likely stating that there were Nephilim in Canaan as hyperbole or an actual lie in order to convince the people of Israel that Canaan couldn’t be conquered, meaning that there aren’t any actual recorded occurrences of Nephilim (no matter which view of the nature of Nephilim that you take) post flood. This seems like a plausible explanation. I’m not holding that it is the absolute truth, but just a possibility.

    • @KenAmmi-Shalom
      @KenAmmi-Shalom 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One issue is linguistic: does, "appearance of Nephilim" mean mentioned in texts? Or, does it mean actually alive on the ground? See, I George Washinton can appear in my comment and I could claim that I just saw him but that doesn't mean he's a live right now. There's a an appearance of post-flood Nephilim in only one single sentence from an "evil report" by unreliable guys whom God rebuked when they merely asserted seeing them as a tall-tale but no real on the ground alive appearance of them. Any concept of post-flood Nephilim implies that God failed: He meant to be rid of them via the flood but couldn’t get the job done, He must have missed a loophole, the flood was much of a waste, etc. See, fallacious Nephilology negatively effects theology proper. Also, post-flood Nephilologists have to just invent un-biblical tall-tales about how they made it past the flood. This describes 100% of pop-Nephilologists. And those who claim they survived the flood contradict the Bible five times. I’ve written whole books debunking them such as, “Nephilim and Giants: Believe It or Not!: Ancient and Neo-Theo-Sci-Fi Tall Tales.” Also, “Nephilim and Giants as per Pop-Researchers: A Comprehensive Consideration of the claims of I.D.E. Thomas, Chuck Missler, Dante Fortson, Derek Gilbert, Brian Godawa, Patrick Heron, Thomas Horn, Ken Johnson, L.A. @@KenAmmi-Shalom First let me thank you for the list of names that you work against. In your previous post. Second let me apologize for assuming that you where more mentally capable. When you said you had written books on the subject. As in more than one book. i assumed you would be more knowledgeable of the topic. You are correct in that Deuteronomy 3: 11 uses the word for Rephaim. It was assumed you would understand the history of the biblical use of Rephaim and Nephilim and the correlation. Especially after doing all the research that would be required to write several books, on the topic. My mistake. Numbers 13: 33 Nephilim are seen, as well as the correlation to them being giants. Please don't use more Non biblical references. In pretense to supporting Un biblical claims. That you have written books about.

      @@jackfrost2978You're very good at being an ungraceful worldly jerk so maybe stop offering proof of that henceforth. Can you please provide quotations and citations to back the assertion of, "the biblical use of Rephaim and Nephilim and the correlation"? You say, "Numbers 13: 33 Nephilim are seen" but in order to conclude that, you sided with one sentence in an "evil report" by 10 unreliable guys whom God rebuked: why are they your only source? They also contradicted Moses, Caleb, Joshua, the whole rest of the entire Bible and God: why do you side with them?

    This could be a good channel, but you really need to insert visuals of text, images, video or other, frequently. Make it visual interesting if you're posting on TH-cam.

      Thanks for the feedback! We have just started this as a podcast, but your input has stirred me to ponder what we could do to help this platform out.

      @@javacodeman I see that it is a new channel, that's why I recommended it. It can be a learning curve, but just from my personal taste, I feel less talking heads more visuals for TH-cam. I personally will tune away if nothing visual is happening on other channels. I like when I can see the text and stuff. Good luck and I will subscribe.

      disagree. Some channels do that WAY too much. Plenty of podcasters don't put in visuals. It's all about how engaging you are in the conversation. Maybe the Scripture references posted up or something would be good, but not "frequently"

      @@NebulousFrivolity That’s what I was thinking as well. Something to break up the monotony every now and then. Quotes and scripture references. Perhaps a picture of a manuscript if we were talking about it, etc. Zach did just buy a green screen-so we may have a new and exciting background. 😉

      Dr. Heiser was credentialed and experienced but not infallible, his Nephilology wasn’t biblical, and he tended to create more problems than he solved-see these articles for examples: “Review of Amy Richter and Michael Heiser on four Enochian Watcher related women in Jesus’ genealogy” “Rebuttal to Dr. Michael Heiser’s “‘All I Want for Christmas is Another Flawed Nephilim Rebuttal’”

      Did you listen to the video? First, even if what you're saying was true, that argument simply does not work. The word "trinity" isn't in the Bible either. Yet, the Bible clearly speaks about God as a trinity. Second, no English word is in the Bible since it was written in Hebrew and Greek. So, the word "disciple" isn't in the Bible either. Yet, it's English translation from Greek is in the Bible. It is clear from the Septuagint's use of arseno and koites in the Leviticus passages that Paul's use of aresenokotes means a man lying with a man. Finally, regardless of whether or not the word is used, Romans 1 simply describes the act without use of any label word. One can hold on to a lifestyle, but he/she cannot abuse the Bible to justify it.
