That’s kinda crazy, some inlets seem more hazardous than they are convenient 😅😅 but risk it for the biscuit as they say haha

@@SunriseCityInletIf you look at the Stono Inlet from a satellite you can see an area of it southeast of Bird Key Stono Heritage Preserve where there’s a random looking patch of white caps. That’s because there’s a sand bar where it’s only 3 feet deep at best. It constantly causes waves to break even when it’s dead calm. You better know where the heII you’re going cause you can easily flip a small boat or get stuck somewhere where you can only be rescued by helicopter. There’s a specific unmarked channel you have to go through. It’s hazardous for the average Joe, but still convenient for local fisherman that actually know what they’re doing and can navigate it correctly.

The rest of this trash heap is far worse. His cobbled together school bus engine and other assorted truck parts routinely fail, which is why it is being towed. He has an odd aversion to anything rated or designed for marine use.

Oh there's a funny story behind it. His (hydraulic) winch originally didn't have enough power to pull a full length of chain so he put a bigger (more torque, less speed) motor on it, it didn't help, then an even bigger and even slower one, fast forward 2 years by complete acccident he found out that he forgot to put oil in the gearbox so it used to pretty much seize under load and the worm gear is all chewed up. It cost him almost $10k to make a new one (and it was right after he complained that $13k for a used marine gearbox is way too expensive - after his cobbled together drivetrain exploded for I lost count how many times now). Now he wants to keep the big slow motor because "he likes it". Btw it takes about 20-30 minutes to raise the anchor.
