Are these any good in snow? I hear differing reports.
Hi, I have used these in the dry dust tracks of Spain , on long Europe trips from the UK to the South of France and Spain many times and they have been great. With regards to snow use I have only been out in heavy snow a few time in the last 6 year with the GG AT3s on but have found them to give plenty of traction in the snow.
Also I am still on the first set of tyres now six years on the car and covered 38,000 miles on both road and mountain tracks. Over the six years I have had to replace two tyres but that was down to sidewall damage on the mountain tracks in Spain.
Yes now i see the allen screws i have to undo to take the cover off to change the fuse 👍

I have 100k on mine and I can tell you this has never been done... But will be this weekend
Hi, there is also a flat round filter pad underneath the foam one so make sure to check that one too. Regards Peter
thanks for sharing this review! its something we always look for when booking a site as we have 3 Labradors
We mostly book sites based on the dog walks. I'm please you found the video useful. Regards Peter P
Thank you for this video! Can't even find this info on the Truma website! Wondering if you have ever had to unblock the condensation trap on this model? Have a couple installed on outdoor office spaces, not on a caravan and we're getting water pooling on the roof. I assume it's because it's not on a moving vehicle, so the water isn't running off during operation. Any tips for me? Thank you X
@misskatoyaki4044 Hi, it's normal for water to run off of the roof. I suspect the issue is that you have a completely flat roof. Normally the water produced by the A/C unit would run off the back or front of the caravan. A/C units don't use condensation trays like fridges do as they produced too much water which is extracted from the atmosphere.
@@discoveryadventures2296 thanks for the reply! Yeah it's a totally flat roof. They're outdoor office spaces that are inside a warehouse so the sun doesn't evaporate it off. I'm the cleaner there so they've asked me to get to know the units as we move into summer and get the leaks again. Might have to reverse engineer a solution. Thanks again!
Hello has anyone found where to purchase a replacement filter unit from
You either need to buy the whole vent system from JLR or make your own filter. There is also a little felt pad under the foam filter. Regards Peter
Thanks. Very useful information. I have already bought the adaptor off Ebay, but wanted to make sure it was the right item. I'll also be getting an extension on your advice. I've even found I needed one once in the UK, but happily the site office lent me one for the night.
Pleased that you found it helpful. Regards Peter
I just changed the filters in mine. The filter is very flexible, so breaking it takes some serious mishandling. It cleans up very well with a soft toothbrush and mild dishwashing detergent. Rinse well after and they look like new. When putting back into the A/C unit, it's very difficult to get the filter properly placed in all the nooks and crannies; but with care and persistence, it's possible.
@flydutch1 it's actually very easy when you now how to change the filters. As you say they clean up like new.
just changed our Filters first time and so easy after watching your video....thank you
Hi, I am so pleased that you found the video helpful and that it made it easy for you to change the filters. Regards Peter
We keep a pair of babies'socks and micro pore tape in our first aid kit. Ideal if the pooch hurts their feet, ours once pulled his nail out between planks of decking.
That's a good idea. We did think about a waterproof dog boot.
We have recently purchased one of these canopies. We used it in April and like Steve's response we didn't use the loops on the side. I thought they were for when you rolled the side panels up. We did have a real issue with the 3 beams. They seemed as though were just a little too long to fit between the front beam and the caravan. Other than that, we are pleased with the canopy as we did have some rain and it with stood the couple of downpours and remained watertight. We are due to go away at the end of the month and will be using the canopy again so will try the loops this time.
Thank you for your comment and hope you have a great trip. Let me know how you get on using the hoops.
Worrying that our main dealer said there's no servicing required 😮
It's minimal maintenance but it definitely needs doing periodically. The frequency will depend on the location of where it is used and the frequency it is used. But it definitely needs doing.
Perfectly explained.
Just the sponges can be ordered. The part number is listed as a part for the classic Range Rover but it is a perfect fit. Part number: STC970
What happens if you plug into reverse polarity?
Your appliances may not then be earthed.
So the auxillary battery is for the charging ports etc , r8?
It's to provide power to auxiliary ports to run a 12v compressor fridge and to link the two batteries if the main battery is low/flat for any reason.
Do you happen to know where the serial number is located on these? Many thanks.
I'm not sure but suspect that it will be under the roof cover with all the internal components.
Thank you so much and like many this has hopefully solved a problem I've had for weeks - yellow suspension light and HDC Faults and limp mode after 25 minutes driving - air compressor getting too hot and 'vehicle rising slowly'. Taken out filter which just disintegrated into a pile of dust so will seek replacement tomorrow and with fingers crossed problem solved!
Hi, as the sponge had disintegrated it might be worth changing the compressor filter and moisture crystals.
Great, thanks.
Could you tell me what one you used please ?
Hi its Trustleaf liquid rubber. I purchased mine on ebay. Hope this helps. If you liked the video (I have two videos on this subject) the please like and subscribe.
Thank you for your very helpful video. I wasn’t too sure how to use these different items but you’ve explained it very well.
I am really pleased that you found the video helpful. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
I have some other videos you may find helpful. If you subscribe you will be sure to be notified of my future videos.
Good video We bought one and are currently using it for the first time, so far impressed with it although we didn’t put the loops round the air cells each side of the canopy because we didn’t notice them ( silly bugger syndrome). We have ours inflated to 6.5 psi as it is currently quite warm ( Dorset/Hants border). Steve n Jeanette
Hi, pleased that you enjoyed the video and now know about the loops. I hope you have a great time on your holiday and hopefully have some nice weather to enjoy your sun canopy. Regards Peter
Any news on a new general grab at3 coming out for 2024
Not that I am aware of.
Thank you. Now I know how to remove them. I will purchase a spare set but will clean the originals like you did
I am pleased that it helped you with your filters.
Can I just ask what you put them in to wash? As they look a bit big to put in a sink
@user-xh3lh9ck3t just used the sink. We have a large sink and just washed one end at a time. Be very careful when wet.
Well had some replacement filters turn up. So fitted those and washed the originals in a large plastic box. They are as good as new again. So will rotated them every season from now on. Thanks again for the very helpful video and advice
Do you find much gunk comes out when cleaning? Only ask because ours looks still brand new and can imagi6 I'd see dust outside the filter (?)
Hi, it very much depends on how often you use the A/C, the climate and how many inhabitants. Although we are in the UK we do use our caravan in the South of France where it can get very hot and dusty. We also have to long coated dogs which tend to collect a lot of dust in their coats. We also run an air purifier to extract dust from the air, which helps a lot.
Thank You a very useful video. Barrie
Glad it was helpful!
Any news on a next generation general grabber at3
Hi, not that I am aware of at this time. Regards Peter
TY for this video, very helpful. Instead of pushing on the filter, to lever out the panel, I used my thumbnail into the narrow gap between lightstrip and panel. A butter knife would work perfect, then work your way along, youll see the gap widen slowly to about 5mm and its then free.
I'll try that next time. Regards Peter
What about the Rooftop part, does that have a filter?
Hi, not that I am aware of as its recirculated air. I believe the top vents at the back of the unit are to expel heat from the compressor.
Top section in non serviceable. But I know that the top cover can be removed. I have not investigated this as I'm not sure there is much you can do in there.
Hi, can you suggest where i can buy the intake filter?mine disintegrated completely. Thank you
Hi, this seems to be a common issue with some of the old sponges. You can buy them from Land Rover Dealerships, but it only comes as a whole unit rather than just as a replacement sponge. Lots of people have made their own by buying some sponge and cutting it to shape.
Yes I knew about the filter
It's surprising how many people either didn't realise that the strips on the side are the filters or how to replace them. Regards Peter
Hi, Yes. Inner plastic wheelarch cover removed. Regards Peter
I can’t tell did you remove the plastic well guard?
Thanks very helpful!
Thankyou, all the way from sunny Oz
Thank you and I hope it helps.
Hello please did you recalibrate the height of the front wheel with some software after replacing the upper arm thank you
Hi Charles, not initially, I just made sure that the arms were in the correct position by jacking up the lower arm. However about 12 months later, I did check and carry out a calibration of all four corners using a BT GAP11 tool which I purchased. All four corners were slightly out although i did not have any adverse wear on any of the tyres. I hope this helps. Regards Peter
Thanks for the info. Could you give details of the product you used, please
Hi Philip. Its called Trustleaf Latex Rubber. Which you can purchase on ebay. When you search for it make sure you write Trustleaf Latex Rubber or you will find something completely different on ebay lol.
Unfortunately, there's no R14 size for small cars
Tried to have a look at mine today but I have rear AC and this filter is virtually inaccessible behind the blower. I could get the cap off but not get it out of the way. Only was to get the foam out would be with a wire hook. Decided to not bother as there was not a speck of dust in that compartment.
It's worth trying to remove. There are actually two filters one felt at the bottom and the sponge one. Sometimes the sponge starts to breakdown into a fine dust which could get sucked in and would obviously need the sponge replacing. Regards Peter
It's a pain but you can jiggle the canister out of the mount... Lots of cuss words and a sore hand! 😂the worst
The manual says they're not cleanable which is a bunch of crap. They are ridiculously fragile. I can't imagine whose dumb idea it was to use a filter medium like this. They charge around $70 US for a replacement which is also exorbitant. I like the unit, but this is a major weakness in its design.
Hi, thank you for your comment. Yes they are very fragile and I suspect that's why the manual states that they are not cleanable. However as demonstrated they can be cleaned, washed and reused if done carefully. Just be careful when they are loaded with water when washing as this is when they are most likely to break. Regards Peter.
Thanks for this, checked mine this morning, all good.. Cheers
Always good to check annually. Regards Peter
Doesn’t work my clips don’t go it on the door
Are you sure you are using the correct clips.
Nice tires. How is the performance on wet roads. How long is the breaking dinatnce on wet an dry?
Hi I have now covered 30,000 miles on this same set of tyres and have found no difference in the wet or dry roads compared to the factory tyres fitted. I have used these on long continental trips around Europe and the UK on road, dirt tracks and steep rock faces and on snow. They are a good all round tyre. There only down side is in soft wet mud where they do not clear the mud from the tread that well
Hi there. How did you get through the fire wall into the car. I’m struggling with getting the cable into the car at this stage
Hi there is a rubber grommet near the steering column or if automatic there's a larger grommet when the clutch cylinder would have been mounted. Regards Peter
Hi good video, I've had these recently fitted to my Tiguan. They look awesome but getting vibration at motorway speeds, have you or other tubers had this or am I unlucky enough that the person balancing these didn't do a good job, initially he said he wasn't going to balance them at all. Any ideas ?
Hi, thank you for your comment about the video. I would take the car back and have the wheels rebalanced. I have now covered many thousands of miles on these tyres. I often drive on the Continent to the South of France and Spain on motorways and have never had any vibration so I would say its either balancing or a worn component on the car. Mostly likely balancing if the vibration was not there before. Regards Peter
@@discoveryadventures2296 thanks Peter, I appreciate the feedback. Andy.
I've just put a set of these on my 2007 Grand Cherokee SRT8 (275/45/20's). Purely for the aesthetics as I like the chunky look. SRT8's aren't off roaders of course.
Good choice of tyre. Mine have been on for over 25,000 miles and although worn, they still have many more miles left on them. They have undertaken heavy off road use on dusty and rocky terrain.
What a good one! My filter was indeed very dirty, and has never been replaced. I called my dealer but he asked €96.40 for the filter inlc housing. Is there anyone who might have a cheaper filter? Read below in the comments, a dyson hoover filter... But isn't there an aftermarket filter for this? Please let me know :)
Hi. I'm not aware of a specific aftermarket filter. I would just try to find a fine open cell sponge to use and cut it to shape. A pond box filter sponge might be ideal as they come in different open cell ranges.
Thanks for the demonstration! Very helpful.
Where did you source the 100amp lockout fuse breaker?
