Llanddwyn is a tidal Island off the South Western point of Anglesey in North Wales. It is accessed through Newborough Warren - one of the largest coastal dune systems in the UK. It also home to a large Pine forest and many of these trees are buried by the dunes close to the beach.
At night there is not much light pollution (once the Moon had set) and wandering onto the Island off the large sandy beach reveals several historic structures which make great foregrounds for my Astro landscapes such as the Church of St Dwynwen (an old ruin dating back to the 15th century). There are also a small herd of wild ponies which like to ramble across the Island!
In the Night Sky I captured there is Orion, the winter triangle and hexagon, Cassiopeia, Andromeda, the planets Jupiter and Mars and quite a few nebula which I enhanced through the use of a hydrogen alpha filter placed in front of my camera lens.
