I certainly enjoy watching your videos, and learning from them. Thank you Jim.
Looks like you got more than a handful of work ahead of you. Sometimes that is a good way to go. You are a remarkably detailed orientated professional when it comes to vintage wood cabinet radios. People do take notice of you Jim.
Thanks for the great stuff you do Jim.
Be careful with those flaming hot peanuts you have.
Don't forget about using the link on the back of the radio between screws 2 and 3. It should not be used when using a longwire antenna. Always use a plastic adjusting tool when adjusting the trimmers and note that each trimmer has a set amount of adjustment from right to left. When you turn the radio around and it's facing you the lowest frequency you can do is on the left.
Enjoy your vids. Just like your bench, a can of Off is a must have on mine. #!*$ skeeters!

Thanks for sharing Kim , glad to hear your brother is doing well, .
You're a gem of a brother Jim.
Yes he is~
Good on you for helping your brother. I liked your cabinet processing. Learning a lot, never was any good at that level of woodwork.
Some people feel RCA Victor Corp. made the best radios of the time. They certainly held all the Patents which all the other radio companies had to use for their radios and other such equipment.
We've been partial to Zenith since just kids. But we love them ALL!
the alphabet font in line drawing may be easier to fill in than full body lettering , thanks for sharing Jim.
Great to have you back , wishing you a healthy life Jim.
I am following along with your videos as I restore my own Silvertone 4565. I am learning from you. Thank you.
Where should I buy my capacitors from?
@@jamesmitchell2599 I get mine here: www.tuberadios.com/capacitors
Hey Jim, I have just recently acquired my first radio for a radio restoration. I saw on TH-cam that capacitors have an outside foil connected to one side of the lead. How important is it to make the foil face the right side. Can you get away with just putting in the capacitors without paying attention to the foil side? How on earth do you even tell which side is the foil side when the capacitors are not marked? Thanks for your time.
@@jamesmitchell2599 I never worry about it. If it was a serious issue, they would’ve printed it on the body of the cap. Die Hards.
GOOD NEWS! All the best! Nah...you will be here still Jim! 🤝
Good morning Mr Burns. I hope you can help me with my project. I have an RCA K60 cabinet that needs restoration. I use to apply oil based stain and wipe on poly My problem is that i need to fill some cracks on the wood, but don't know what kind of wood filler to use? Ive watched your videos, and see that the wood filling you do, accept the stain pretty well, and, at the end, you can not tell where it was wood filler Please give me name of the wood filler you use Oscar
@@oscarhernandez9008 What I use depends on the degree of the flaw. Please send me close up pics of the issues you have. You can send them to the address in the upper corners of my videos.
Glad you got through the colonoscopy well. Prep for that is awful. Take a look at the schematic for a Zenith 6D2614 radio for how they connect the 2 dial lamps to the 35Z5. It uses 2 47 lamps. It might give you an idea.
Glad you are ok. How about a bundle of fibers from the lamp on the right and bring them over the left as you do for Zenith sound organ levers? Take care.
12SG7 was a pretty well used metal tube type by the mid 1940s and mostly by RCA / Victor but was new for 1941. I see a RCA/Victor radio up for bid that says RCA Victor Pushbutton/ Wood/Tube Radio -Vintage - Untested. At $39.50 so far. I think it's a T-60 which has a 6U5 eyetube, 6 push butttons, and in original condition. Free USPS shipping from Huntington Beach, CA got my attention.
@@hestheMaster Now you got mine!! 😵💫
Jim if I were you I would create a metallic label with my name and the refurbishing date for every radio. Great job, thanks for sharing this with us.
Appreciate the update on this tougher than usual to repair RCA radio. Good thing the volume control was OK. Lemon flavored horse piss? Yuck. After the procedure it is best to rest ( you will pretty much have no choice regarding that) and drink lots of replenishing fluids. Getting over the sedation stuff depends on your liver to break down the medicine so go easy on things for at least 24 hours. I was hungry about 8 hours after coming home. Ate good and went back to sleep! Been there, done that!
@@hestheMaster 👍 on the rest. Was starving before surgery. Didn’t eat anything of substance since Saturday.
Chassis look great , incredible work, regarding your AC it seems the water in your areas has too much calcium .
Good luck with your procedure tomorrow, but take it from someone who had one recently, don’t mess with the radio project. The forgetting medication they give you for the procedure really does mess with your memory for about 24 hours.
@@frankdomingo191 Thanks Frank, I’ll try to keep that “in mind” 😂😂😂

Beautiful Restoration Jim:) Bryan in El Paso
The 'science' project' swamp cooler. 'That shit is free' 🤣 We used to use a swamp cooler too. Calcium even in our well water. (Always tested outstanding) But we only replaced pads once a season. But 'usually' we're not even close to the HOT days in Arizona. I think those monsoon storms from your way have been checking in even here in Montana a couple days ago. Lightning unreal. But now here comes the forest fire smoke. Common in the summer here... I take storm/lightning images and have some really cool ones over the years. A few tree strikes too. I could watch lightning all day/night.. All the best Jim. And thanks for the laugh too! Love the magic eye.................
Absolutely amazing how gorgeous that turned out! I knew you would bring it back...but this one was Jim Burnsized to brand new again, and it was a complete ~MESS~ to start with. A MESS. Man, in AWE! Inside and out~🤝👌👌 Stunning! Put a couple of still images of the original condition right at the beginning or end of your operation vids Jim. You are an ARTIST. Very few if ANY would have even thought about trying with this one.
@@mikeinmontana8875 thanks Mike, good ider.
Another beauty Jim. Thanks for sharing all the great work.
Well you've done an excellent job on this radio. It looks a hundred times better than it did when you first got it !!
Back in the day when I was a kid, we lived in Tucson, and I'll never forget the spectacular lightning shows mother nature used to put on for us. Wow they were incredible !!!
Beautiful restoration!
Wow very eye catching nice shine
It was poorly packed for shipment and turned out to be a basket case when received. A full refund was in order. But with much clever restoration ability and a whole lot of work added just to get it there, it is a joy to behold! You amaze me once again Jim!
Beautiful! You saved another one. Thanks
Jim, You never cease to amaze !
@@gerryharmon8847 hey hey there Gerry, you still on the planet? 🙏
Great work on this guy!
It looks incredible, the cabinet is breathtaking, it would be great if you could share a video of the step by step cabinet’s restoration process , specifically the finishing stages. Thank you Jim.
Those are some great diagrams you've drawn there sir!
I don't know how you are able to concentrate and work in such heat. Kudos to you!
Lead dress issues can be minimized by taking plenty of photos before you tear into the massive replacement of any wires, components, and coils. Oh, oh too late again.
Thanks Jim for explaining everything, a beginner like me appreciated immensely.
When you order new speaker cones, do they come already cut to shape and size ?
@@user-eg3yv3xr7s Yes, mostly. Some require some adjustments depending on conditions of the speaker.
You don't have to apologize for anything Jim... all GOOD!🤝
Diving right into it. I guess RCA radios were not all that they were cracked up to be. Soot in the air plus cigarette smoke after a few decades, yeah you get a layer on many things you can't get to just to clean it off every now and then. More talented resto work to come.
Every single video of yours how to refurbish an old tube radio is priceless, thank you Jim for sharing it with us.
We could not agree more! 🤝
Lots of tedious work there. I wonder how many point to point connections each worker was responsible for during manufacturing? I have not been successful in finding a video detailing how these old radios were manufactured.
