love your work and how you are free to paint aywhere
Beauty in the Dark, love the night paintings .
Love all your Plein air 🥰
Paint until they notice you ! Beautiful piece of art.😊
This is the first video I’ve seen by you. Very nice, time to subscribe.😊
Thank you Brent!
Amazing poster and art and I love the Dead Dead's and the local scene there they've been apart of. You've done a great job indeed and with the video 👌👌🌄
Thank you Jayden!
An engineer project for a painting art can we call all you do very creative, thank you for this video!
Thank you Angel!
Why is it such a secret you tell anything like blues 100’s -yellows 100’s ITS CALLED TOP SECRET..
Hey Larry, I think your comment is meant for another video. I don't talk on this one as it's a time-lapse. - Cheers - Doug
Can you tell me what tool that is that you used to make the trees?
I used a small sable synthetic hogs hair brush. I've been using ProWhite brushes recently from Jerry's Artarama. Hope that helps!
incredible effort. love the bob ross palette knife and your technique... time to get out and paint
@ronjohnson4566 Thank you!
I’m from a small town, but our local PD basically said we could give ‘em a call before we go out and paint and they’d assuage any concerned onlookers haha. Might be helpful!
Small towns are always great and I've never had trouble painting in them. Even big cities like San Francisco never bother me. My home town can be challenging at times...
Che pennelli usi? Saluti da Firenze✌️
Grazie! Saluti! [ Thank you! I really appreciate it! I have been using Filberts alot lately, specifically hogs hair and synthetic blend brushes. Most of them are the brand "Pro Stroke" brush line. I think Jerry's Artarama makes those, but honestly and decent brand will do. Hope that helps and google translates this correctly! Cheers! ]
Nocturnes are tough, i like the green you put into the sky. Really nice work.
Thank you! I'm constantly learning everytime I paint one.
you deserve more views!
Thank you for your support!
Solid composition. Gorgeous.
Thank you very much!
Good on you!
Thank you Joan!
This is a really cool painting. I was wondering if you are still using Day tripper easel? Looks pretty sweet, I think it is what I will go with.
Thank you! I still use it outdoors and indoors. It's my favorite easel by far!
nice artblog
Thank you!
Love your work
Thank you Dale!
What a nice studio. I like how you've set it up - and included a lot of your family stuff to make it a nice area. I've also got an old zenith console but I've got to get running. Excellent work space👍
Thank you James, it always seems like a work in progress with more to do! As far as those old consoles out there, I was lucky that it still worked. There are some electric repair shops still around that might be able to service yours. I love the sound they produce with the tube amplifiers!
Oh I'll get it working - I work on tube stuff. I just need to do it!
@@jameswester333 You're way ahead of me. I have no idea how to repair the vintage stuff!
I admire your perseverance! Many years ago I attempted a night time painting session using nothing but a headlamp. In the morning, I discovered the painting came out a brown color.
I have had the same results and it indeed is frustrating. I upgraded to a couple of belkin neutral book lights and then to one on Amazon that works well. I love the mood an orange glow gives a scene, but it is difficult to paint under without a strong neutral light. Another thing is I have a white based pallets that has help with mixing. Hope that helps!
I dont think i could that 😮...if the cops saw me painting....probably would give me a ticket for a bad painting 🤔
Good paintings are built by thousands of bad paintings!!! Take it one at a time!
Awesome, I'm surprised the cops didn't stop by
Thanks Jimmy! They have in the past, but I've been able to get my paintings done.
What is a brayer, what does it look like?
Made by Speedball, you can buy it at Jerry's Artarama.
Awesome painting! 😊
Thank you Lois!
Model was a Volkswagen thing.
This is beautiful painting. What a mood.
Thank you James! I really appreciate it!
Thanks for the video Doug. Appreciate you coming out to paint. Let's do it again. Brian Ross
Yeah, that caboose will be fun!
@Liquidmethod I checked it out again while I was at the Chesapeake art festival. Good access and shade trees near by.
I suppose if your easel sits down, you're as well to sit down too! Nice vid Doug.
It was really windy that day. I'm surprised everyone's easels held up for the most part.
Beautiful painting. Ha I'm admiring the windows on top and then you suddenly obliterate them with your brayer!
Thank you James. I use the brayer a lot to help push back elements that are competing too much with other prime elements. It's very useful.
I've got to try the brayer. I'd like to not paint everything that's there - as you say - like a camera.
Speedball is my favorite brand of brayer to use.
You are a brave man, Doug. You, however, have really pulled it off giving us an appreciation of what could be just an eyesore but not through your eyes. A really wonderful work of art. Difficult to believe that police and security could see you as any kind of threat. I think the environment looks more threatening than an artist giving us insight. Blessings from Aus. 🦋🇦🇺❤️
Thank you Cassandra, I’m glad you liked the painting! Unfortunately, construction sites are open targets for theft of materials and equipment. So, I don’t fault them with having security. For years, that site has been filled with excavators and scrapyards. It’s all gone now with parking garages and soon to be built condo high rises. Will have to find new places to paint with a little more industrial urban character.
Wow I just stumbled across your channel. Great stuff - Thanks so much
Thank you James! I’m happy to share my paintings and process with everyone.
Very nice!
Thank you!
Nice!
Thank you Reiki!
+1 👍🤝
Thank you!
Great job. Why are you turning the picture over?
Thanks Ravi! I like to paint upside down sometimes on complex compositions so that it allows me to focus on the basic structures when starting.
I love deftones
They are even better in concert!
This is really cool, you have a good talent
Thank you!
That’s an incredible painting ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Berty!!!
Thank you Berty!
Straight in with no pencil lines or wash, amazing technique. No wonder it has sold.........
Thank you so much Tony!
This is freaking fantastic, this is the type of thing I want on my wall
Thank you Emily! I really appreciate it! I'm looking to get prints made soon at my website. I will announce it through my newsletter when they are ready if you would like to sign up.
Just trust a bro!
Really love this 💖
Thank you!!
Wow
Thanks!!
“they was like HEY!” 😂😂
so much talent wow
Thank you!
your paintings are amazing!
Thank you so much!!
Unusual and difficult subject masterly done. You had a feeling for it. Super
Thank you so much!!
High, I just started watching you paint and have subscribed. I think the brayer is a great idea! I like the way it unifies everything like when you squint at the picture or the subject. Thanks for the video!
I have become aware of all the dark masses, lights and shadows, while walking through an empty parking lot at night and wondered if it was possible to do a painting on site. Thanks.
Thank you! I’m glad it helps you get out to paint too!
