Installing New Rear Brake Caliper on Mazda Protege5 (DIY)
In this video I document the process of removing a rear disc caliper on a Mazda Protege5, and installing a new one. The existing brake caliper was rusted and sized and the piston would not release the inside brake pad. The outer brake pad was completely worn. I drove it like this for about 30 miles (with loud grinding disc against caliper) until I could park the car and exchange the calipers.. Note the rim is dark in the beginning of video from excess brake pad wear. I then installed a new refurbished caliper. The process can be done in less than 2 hours easily. I also kept the disc rotor and cleaned up some of the surface rust with rust dissolver.
Note, the hammer: I have consistently had issues with this Protege5 having the aluminum rim binding to the steel disc rotor. It especially does this when it rains or in the winter when the roads are salted. I have tried a light coat of grease on the back of the rim to prevent the aluminum from reacting with the steel. That is why in the video I am applying a thin coat of aluminum anti-seize so that next time I remove the wheel maybe it won't be seized. This isn't called for and just me experimenting, so don't do this at home. Also, I am using the hammer to pop the wheel off. A rubber mallet would be better and safer.
You will need some tools for this job:
-14 mm socket
-12 mm socket
-ratchet
-a couple extensions of various size
-needle nose pliers
-braker bar
-a couple torque wrenches
-a flat head screwdriver may be helpful

This has been a rough year for our garden (having unexpected frosts in June, July, & August!)...but we prevailed and had a great harvest! We will save some as seed potatoes (especially the ones that had bite marks from the voles) and enjoy the rest.

Bees Making Honey on Minimal Resources in Mountain Desert
มุมมอง 883 หลายเดือนก่อน
We live in a rain shadow. There are minimal resources here. These bees forage strictly on wildflowers and haven't been moved from this bee yard. With a long, cold spring that extended in to half of June, July was exceptionally hot. August was normal and helped the bees bolster their winter supplies. We currently have three colonies: two Italian and one hive with a Carniolan queen. She was intro...

The bottom vent is for decorative only. According to the manual. Should use only the top to adjust air
That's correct. However, in the early days when we had just installed the stove, during low pressure weather days, we had a hard time getting the fire to start. After we cracked that lower vent by installing the washer, it has helped the fire to take off during those weather periods and we've never had another problem since.
@@MountainDesertFarmthat’s really good to know. I’m just getting ready to fire mine up. They also note something odd in their manual about not firing over night? Don’t understand that
@@josephriley3658 That is interesting. We have had no problems stoking it and burning through the night.
In Denmark the bottom vent is functional. I'm not sure when it should be used though.
Can you tell me what type of material your hearth is made of and the thickness please , it looks very nice , thanks
Hi, that is the Morsø Black Steel Plate. That is their hearth plate. Our stove dealer had it and it's worked for us. There are lots of other options out there though. Being painted metal, it does get warm but we've never seen it get hot.
How does the straw keep from blowing away? Where are you situated? We are just getting ready to plant our Garlic here in the SW of France.
Due to higher elevation, we have had hard frosts ( -4 Celsius) at night, since the middle of October. We have freezing conditions here until the end of March, early April. The straw is extra protection for the garlic, against the hard frosts. Some of it does blow away, but we just add more. Once it rains, it stays in place. Thank you for subscribing! What is it like in SW France? I don't think you would need to use straw where you are. Just plant it deep enough in case the ground freezes. Our family in Croatia does not need the straw when they plant their garlic.
Great start to the day
Hi. My son just replaced the xlutch kit on his protege 5. He is at the point where he needs to refill the fluid, and we are unsure of how to do that. Do we follow the same procedures as if we were just changing the fluid?
Yes, same steps. If you end up with air in the line just crack the bleed valve and let the fluid push out the air, then top off.
Can I buy one in the U.S ?
Yes, Morsø has dealers in the U.S.
The version sold in Australia doesn't include the tertiary air system
Does it have an Ash pan? 🥴 .
yes, you can access it after opening the door.
@siamakga 👍
@@DD-uf2uo real awesome stove. I've had it for a couple of months and I'm impressed. It burns every bit of wood, and the amount of ash produced is unbelievably little. I would have opted for a bigger firebox => bigger log sizes if it was feasible.
Yes it does. Under the grate, check out the video to see.👍
@@MountainDesertFarmNot seen in the video but I understand it has one.
We just got this very stove but I don't know if I'm supposed to use fire cement , where the pipe hooks on top can you please help me with this ?Thank you !
Hello, we did not need to use fire cement when hooking up the stove pipe to the stove. In our case, we piped it out the back because it was more convenient for us in our location inside the house. Everything that the stove came with will suffice for installation. You could also talk to whoever you bought the stove from and they can verify as well.
Nice video
How did you open the bottom vent? I've read in other countries it's not welded shut but America being america they weld it shut and somehow it's safer to lite it with the door open 🤷♂
Hello, the bottom vent on our stove has a nut/bolt on the inside of the door. The nut holds the vent shut tight. We undid the nut, added a washer, and then screwed it back on. This allows for a tiny gap of air to feed the fire, in addition to the main vent. We will make a small video showing the process. Very simple. (The instruction manual however says the bottom vent is to be closed at all times, fwiw.)
I have posted a new video about this stove & addressed your question in it. Hope it helps you out!
This may be stupid to ask but if it’s just the master cylinder bad do you need to replace the slave cylinder as well or will the stock one still work fine with the new master cylinder.
Nope, you can do one at a time. In my case, my Master Cylinder was the problem, but I did them both at the same time because I got a discount buying both. (As in, buying online at O'Reilly and shipping to home with free shipping was cheaper than buying at the counter.) That being said, I still have the original slave cylinder saved just in case since it looked fine to me when I took it off.
Add thrust washer in review
Yes there is a thrust washer that comes with this grinder, just forgot to show it in the video.
Price please
U can also store them in boxes of sand just it hase to be moist and no need to wash the carrots keeps them fresh for good measures of time
Thank you for sharing! I have heard of that method and will try it.

Curious how to bleed clutch line as I have replace the soft line, any suggestion?
Hi, I did what's called a gravity bleed, where I opened up the bleed valve on the slave cylinder while I slowly topped off clutch fluid reservoir. There are some generic short videos on TH-cam that show that, so I didn't cover it here. It can be messy... have some rags handy. But if you're just replacing the rubber line between the master cylinder and the reservoir, you may get lucky and have the air just go up into the reservoir once you hook it back up.
@@MountainDesertFarm Thanks for your promptly reply, lucky I have got it fixed yesterday, good to know I am not alone on old cars, mine is Mazda GLX which is 24 years old.
Lucky it didn't attack after putting the camera so close! ; )
This is a young one and it's mostly curious. We have seen 4 more around the house at various times. They don't stick around though 😮

Berapa bln usiya panen kentang bos.
Halo, kentang bisa dipanen antara 70-100 hari. Itu tergantung pada iklim Anda. Di tempat saya tinggal (musim tanam kering dan pendek), dibutuhkan waktu mendekati 100 hari. Semoga itu bisa membantu!
Nice sharing
Witch one taste the best?
Depends on what you like. I like the farm eggs best because there is more yolk and the taste is richer. Plus, I like them better for my baking. If you like the white part more, the store bought egg has more white than the farm one.
