This is the Volcano zone that The Center needed!!!
For a really early map it was amazing there were a lot of rendering issues and clipping errors but that doesn’t matter. The utter atmosphere of the fog is really nice and the environments feel real. I was staring at the water looking at all the Dino’s for like a solid ten minutes that. my only issue is the crowdedness and the bones but that’s only it this is one of the nicest maps in early access I can’t wait till full launch
Thanks for your feedback! Also yes, I tried to make it look realistic whilst keeping the classic Ark feel. I do plan on finding and fixing most of the issues and errors too.
Question. Does the Armadoggo come with the map? or do you still need bobs tall tales dlc.
Wildcard has locked it behind Bob’s Tall Tales. It is against the rules for modders to allow people to bypass it. I don’t know the punishment but I know it’s something legal. Kind of like pirating.

I can't copy anything from the Island map to the new map. The option to copy is grayed out on the Physics Volume. How do I fix that?
Try pinning them, you’ll see a pin symbol📌 on the left of the thing in the outliner when you hover over it, click it and it should work. If not try loading data layers by going to the data layers tab and making each data layer checked. Switch between these, if neither work try reloading. If it still doesn’t work I recommend you find Minerva’s tutorial on water and weather stuff, find the part for the water physics. I have a playlist on my channel filled with references that I use.

unbelievable... I didn't know that all this existed. I just started with the creation of maps and wow what a complicated... but thanks for everything. I'm going to do some tests and see how it goes. I have a doubt and that is, what you show is really methodical and well done, in fact excellent, but if I want to do everything in a more free way without having to be “tied” to the island, can I do it? I mean, can I create a map without having to “automate” or “connect” everything? or do I have to do it this way? For example, what happens if I want that the snow is not in the north or that the rivers are in an underwater cave and not like the island? Can I do it or not? I don't know if I explain myself but my little experience in this tells me that step 1 I sculpt the landscape step 2 I paint with the layers that come by default... and based on that I have doubts like, “oh I can't find the snow layer, how can I create it to put it?” and I don't know if I can create it that way or I have to create snow like in this video... well, thanks and if you can guide me a little of the methods I would be grateful... Because really, I need to know how to create underwater caves, how to add dinos spawns, how to add collisions to mayas made in another program, etc etc etc etc. I have a thousand doubts haha. This video that I think is amazing helps me a lot but leaves me with the doubt if I have to do all that or if I can do something much more manual and primitive or easy but effective? That is a very long message, but from what I gathered is that you want of know how to stray from the island. Yes you can make snow go anywhere, just move the overrides, you can duplicate them too. As for underwater caves, I have yet to figure out how to make them breathable but you’d just create a river like you would a lake. As for snow looks, you can change the texture arrays to your own for every material in there, you can also expand the material, though I have yet to try it myself, I just know that others have done it. I also will be doing a tutorial on dino spawns, it won’t be that soon, I make the tutorials based on my order of creation. Collisions, I may show, I don’t have the exact details on getting it to work memorized but I did it before. Also a lot of mapping in ASA is now automated and connected, it takes a lot of time and effort to reconnect stuff and make your own, yes I have done it and one day plan to make tutorials on some of it but that won’t be for a while because of the complexity and time it will be and take. Also you’re welcome and I’m glad the tutorials have expanded your knowledge on mapping and the complexity it can go to, I hope that my tutorials continue to help.

wonderful tutorials! I was wondering, do you know how to change the skybox? while the endless sky is nice, I was looking for ways to switch it out for the scorched earth skybox as my map project is surrounded by a desert and I feel would fit better with that one instead
You'd just use the UDS_SE if you want the scorched earth sky. The materials may not work, they don't work for me but they may work for you, so try it out and see. If not, try adjusting settings in the clouds that you are currently using and the global post process.
On your min and max water setting, in my testing it seems these values should be set to your top of your lowest water source (min value) and top of your highest water source (max value). Most of the time this would be a min with the top of the ocean but if you happen to have a water source in like a cave below the ocean, it would be that instead. Then you need to get your water height index to get anything between working. This can be done by right clicking your level in the content browser and going to Scripted Asset Actions -> Capture Water Height index Texture. This will generate two images in another location (check console to see where) with the names T_MapName_WaterHeightIndex and T_MapName_WaterHeight. Use both of these images in your world settings. That should get the water effects working at all heights. Also make sure you have the BindFluidSimBuffer_Global in your map.

Where is the aberration zone? Is it not out? I could find a radiated cave at the volcano, but how am i supposed to get gas balls to make the radiation suit?

Sorry about the late reply, but I'm glad you found it. Also the map is the size of the island in the length and width. The height is about 3x that of the island. Adding the aberrant caves makes it even bigger.

Attention! Found an issue in the tutorial! Read for the fix! The tutorial is missing a DCM (day cycle manager). In order to get it to work drag in "DayCycleManager" from the content folder into your map. Set the location to 0,0,0.

Nice! Glad to see a well done and more up to date series of ASA mapping tutorials. Yours is the first to mention that when creating the mod you need to use your Curseforge user name, which nobody else mentions. Earlier tutorials just say to put your name there. I did learn later that in theory you can edit the (name of your mod).uplugin file which is just a text file, and where the stuff you entered when creating the mod is stored. But, I haven't tested that yet. Struggling with foliage right now, so hoping to see a tut from you on that soon (fingers crossed)🥺

Best mod map I've played so far and played the most on.
I'm really enjoying playing the map so far but it could use rock golems. And maybe a little less seaweed in the ocean. But all in all can't wait till it's a hundred percent.
How large is it compared to other maps?
Same km2 size as The Island. Though it has potentially triple the verticality of The Island. So you could consider it bigger than The Island. It is a good size for ark maps!

When i press play to run around on my new landscape, its not showing? i just fall into water but i can see it in editor mode. My playerstart is above the land too. Any ideas ?
Check the landscape collision, make sure it is ground terrain. Also make sure spatially loaded is disabled on it

the map is great, but we can't find wyvern eggs...there are only 2 wyverns but no eggs...
There should be more wyverns in the volcano, and the eggs do spawn, it takes a while for them to though

Strange, search kill in your world settings and increase the maxes to be very high of a number and then the opposite with mins. I hope this works

Awesome Tutorial, thank you soooo much for that. I would not have made it to this point where I am right now without your help 🙏 I´m currently working on the blueprints and have followed your instructions and fixes very close on repeat. But still, i have many errors after compiling in all BP´s except "Event to toggle..." & "Custom Events". Mostly things like "could not find var for Ultra Dynamic weather", "in cave", "force hide supply drops", "Time stopped" and lots in PP Events like "Current post process volume", "Lake Water"; "Cave Water", "is underwater", "recently left water", "still underwater". I have no idea how to fix this. :)
I recommend you double check the blueprint parts so that you can see and follow through it correctly
@@WM_Plays Alright, I´ve double checked and found errors in "Is Really Underwater" Function. In your vid @ 43:51, all seems fine. But in my editor "IsUnderwater" on the very left bottom side causes an Error. That "IsUnderwater" also causes an Error in "Water Particles" Function. I have many errors in blend material fog" for missing variables, as example, like "Could not find a variable named bInCave", "Lake Water", "Cave Water", "Is Underwater". Also "Get foliage solver" and "final boss toggles" both has errors "Could not find a variable named "FoliageSolver". I am certainly sure, i missed something on hte way, but as bloody nood to modding, i have no idea where or what -.- Unfortunately, all Functions which causes errors on my side, was completely fine on your side. So o idea, how to process :)

I’m pretty sure you have some missing variables then perhaps, try refreshing the bp nodes too

Great Tutorial series. Any chance we can get a tutorial on how to cut holes in the maps for caves. Also I noticed everyone uses NOHoles on the WaterPlane. Just curious what a use case scenario would be to use holes. Thanks in advance. Vintal is a great map!!
Thanks, and yea I will show how to make holes in the landscape for caves but I have yet to get holes in the waterplane figured out. Mappers tend to use noholes water plane becuase they’re are no holes in it from other maps, it’s ease of use.
Near the end when you hit the Play Button to walk aorund on the map it obviously worked for you. When I tried I fell out of the sky and straight into the water as if the landscape was never there. Any idea why this is happeneing? Any help would be grealty appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Set the landscape collision to Ground, that should fix it
@@WM_Plays It was set to Ground Terrain. I changed it to Ground and I still fall out of the sky and into the water. Once I'm in the water and look up I can't see anything but sky. I can see the Obelisks oddly. On the left side of the screen I get a wall of blue text that says "Failed To Find Valid DSM". Thank you.
Strange, that’s never happened to me, you should check in with the ark modding discord, it is a community with most ark modders and mappers
when i place the landscape in the world it is just black . any clue on what could be causing that? cant really sculpt anything with it like that
Did you add a landscape material to it?

@@WM_Plays i tried following buttmans tutorial to import a gaea landscape as well and still the same thing just a black landscape. i will be going over all the setting compered to the island map to see if i missed something. it dont matter what material i link to the landscape it just stays black. although some times it will get a disco ball effect and all the proxys will be different colors

If you can't place the Weather overrides, just add UDS_Island_Weather and copy the settings. Once done, the weather overrides can be pasted. If what you copy has a dependency not yet added - it wont copy :')

little tip for the next time you make a trailer :) use photomode instead of just flying through it in ghost mode. Your mouse is very fidgety, it doesn't look good. in photomode you can move smoothly. You can also use the photomode to choose better positions, e.g. close to a plant or a dino, which gives the whole thing a lot more atmosphere. The pictures on the mod page could also look better :) You want to show the map, so why are there dinos in the foreground of many of the pictures? with the quetzals you can at least still see the cliffs in the background, but with the other pictures you can't see anything of the map, just the dinos. that could just as well have been screenshoted on the island. with the “river” picture you can't see anything of the waterfall in the background, but there's a dead direwolf in the foreground. You can't see the ground details either on the mod page or in the trailer. are there none or are your graphics not good enough to show them? I honestly thought the trailer was for Surval Evolved If you have some people with you, you can also give the trailer way more love of their control different dinos and do stuff while you record the trailer. This could be a good one to show people some of the creatures which you could find and are not vanilla every map dinos
Hey, thanks for your feedback. I made the trailer and screenshots like that on purpose to make them feel in game. I like them how they are currently though. I will try to use this feedback for the next time I make a trailer.
