Chainsaw milling in general is a ton of work! I think it’s worth it for the mobility, low(ish) cost of entry, and the ability for me to cut really unique pieces of wood.
Currently these pieces are still drying. I’ll likely cut these up further and use them sequentially for some type of table top. I’m sure the crotch sections will require some stabilization, but they’ll be beautiful!
Very nice. What a great way to use “scrap” lumber. Where did you find the foam material. I’ve searched Amazon and it just comes up with the fly boxes or inserts for a particular box. Did you consider putting the foam on both sides. Thanks
Thank you! I worked with a specific group for this and they requested foam on only the one side. The specific foam I used shows up on Amazon occasionally, but doesn’t seem to be regularly stocked. I got a few more orders for these later on and had a hard time locating more of the foam.
There’s probably a better solution out there, but I put multiple zip ties tight around the tube pulling it tight against the metal pole. I played around with it a bit until it was a slow but steady drip. 3 zip ties worked for me. Someday I do intend to install the granberg oiler.
What exactly is happening here? I see the board snaps but can someone explain why? What would happen if you continued pushing the cut through? I’m sorry if the answer is obvious.
There was enough tension in the wood that as I got to the end of the cut, it released that tension causing it to break the rest of the way down. I did finish the cut, but it’s definitely a scary thing when it pops like that while you’re pushing it towards the blade!
I have acres of this stuff. Some of my older pines have vines as thick as my leg and our 20+ feet. I’m definitely going to find a creative way to use it.
I got the hardware from Rockler. I utilized the biggest option (15”x21”) www.rockler.com/heavy-duty-steel-shelf-brackets-black-finish?country=US&sid=V91117&promo=shopping&PL&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5cOwBhCiARIsAJ5njuY3g_HHcMU-1Ox0BD7Egqs0GMQQpD3eQJjOZ1T-5NW8FcaPOzm6tcIaAj9JEALw_wcB
Just noticing this comment! I had the Amazon version and would say it worked okay for me a little less than a year then I broke one of the welds while in a cut. I would personally recommend buying the Granberg version for the improved quality. That mill has held up to a ton of milling for me.
You are positioned directly infront of the exhaust while milling. Youre gonna be hearing the trees whisper on your way home if you do this an entire day😂
😂😂
Muy peligroso con cuidado 😮
What is the size of your template around the router?
What is the size of your template around the router?
Everyone that’s having a baby has a fully functional wood shop! Garbage content
But… I’m a woodworker. Shouldn’t I have a fully functional woodshop?
Cute GSP!
He’s always part of the action!
Quite the slingshot
Great build
Thank you! 😊
IS THAT A MOTHA FUCKIN JOJO REFERENCE!
I see you are very familiar with sticky white fluids.
Titebond III, the best white sticky stuff there is.. we’re talking about glue right?
The belly coming into frame each time is perfect, lol

Very nice workmanship!
Thank you!

Thanks!
These really seem like a lot of work… are they worth it?!?😅

Totally worth it. You cant mill your own wood in any other affordable way.
Yes you can. Use the chainsaw@@christianhviid2167
Your naughty 😅 🤙🏼
😂😂
????
Okay. What did you make of it? A crotch is firewood unless someone knows something different. I mean one piece could be made into a funky coffetable

Whenever I randomly come across a video with less than 200 views I always leave a like and comment. Good luck!
Thanks! That is much appreciated over here!
That's a fun burl friend! Those eggs looked to be from the Spongy Moth
I love a good burl! Those spongy moths are all over the place so that would check out.
I’d say that’s a pretty cool burl
Agreed! Small but mighty.
Molto bravo !!!
There is this thing that already exists and every woodworker should have, called a chisel….
Never heard of a chisel? 😵💫

What is the wood type and what Color is the Rubio?
Ash is the wood type, silver grey is the color!
Looking for an easy way to control the flow of oil in my homemade chainsaw oiler. How do you keep it from coming out too quickly?

What's the name of the bar cutting brace tool?

It’s cooler than I thought. Twisted like crazy while drying out tho. I’m going to find something good for it still!
What mounting hardware did you use?

Y’all are so immature. It is a harmless animal who can barely move and you’re freaking out like some 9 year old girls when they see a spider
Are the $90 ones from Amazon any good? Just for casual?

Awesome boxes! What were the final dimensions? Yours looks bigger than most I'm seeing online and I like the larger size
Good question. It would be good to visit stores and measure the pockets inside and outside of waders and fly fishing vests.
5 7/8” x 4 3/8” - we based the size off the foam because the customer preferred that specific foam pad.
Love it!!
Whats up with the canister mask?
Sawdust?
With a chainsaw mill you are over the exhaust of the chainsaw for quite a while.
You are positioned directly infront of the exhaust while milling. Youre gonna be hearing the trees whisper on your way home if you do this an entire day😂
Grub was the one singing
i would not waste my time on shity logs like that
