Climb of Point Walker North Face, Climbers Charlie Hampson and Don from South Africa who I met at the Bar Nash. His original climbing partner a German guy had injured himself when he grabbed one of the rusty cables at the abandoned midi station bivi his hand was burned by stray current from a lightning strike. Don had never been Ice climbing before but was a good rock climber and really game on...

Thin is right! I was on top of St. Helens twice in 1977... been a while hasn't it. BTW... I climbed Forbidden via the NW face around 1980 wearing a down coat and no rain gear (stashed it and other essentials on the approach) and it rained like hell as soon as we summited, SERIOUS mistake on my part.

Sure brings back some old memories when I did those routes in the 80's. Things have really made a change from the old dirt bag climbing day's, living out of the back of what ever vehicle you had at the time. Damn those indoor climbing gyms.
