Our Story - Mummy's Star - Cancer in or around pregnancy
A short introduction to Mummy's Star, the UK and Ireland's only charity dedicated to supporting women and birthing people diagnosed with cancer in or around pregnancy.
Transcript:
We’d like you to meet Mair.
She was 22 weeks pregnant when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
We stayed strong.
But sadly Mair passed away just 10 weeks after giving birth to our son.
She was 41 years old.
Life turned upside down.
So we decided to do something positive.
And Mummy’s Star was born!
A small but mighty charity.
Dedicated to supporting mums and birthing parents diagnosed with cancer In or around pregnancy.
We provide unique help.
Including practical, emotional and financial support .
We are there through treatment and beyond.
We celebrate when Little Stars arrive.
We share in the joys of parenthood.
And help mums maintain some sense of normality.
We like to fundraise.
Raise awareness.
And work with other charities and organisations to provide support and education.
We train healthcare professionals about the realities of cancer in and around pregnancy.
So that more people who need us are referred to us in the future.
And with your support we will be there to help them.
