Eartha Kitt and Me, Part 8 - Awards and Kitt
Oscar, Tony , Grammy and Emmy - all wonderful names for wonderful things, but Eartha had her own preference and I have to agree, it's far more important than any old award

Eartha Kitt and Me! Part 6. FINALLY! They Found A Birth Certificate To Prove That At Least I Exist
มุมมอง 102K10 ปีที่แล้ว
After fruitless attempts to ascertain her birth date, something most of us never even think about for those of us who have one - a simple piece of bureaucratic paper that actually is one of the most important documents you will ever have as it is, quite simply, confirmation that you are officially recognised as existing, without which, life can become even more problematic. Especially back in t...

Eartha Kitt (and me!) Sample Edit
มุมมอง 4.7K10 ปีที่แล้ว
I Interviewed this wonderful lady in Berlin, Germany back in November 1997, having been asked by a German friend if I would be interested in compiling approximately ten questions to be posed for a planned interview with none other than Miss Eartha Kitt. Having always been an admirer of the best Catwoman to come out out of that 1960s camp superheroes series, I gladly set out about the task, then...

    They thought because of her history and being an orphan she couldn’t be one of the best. I know someone who was a rape baby and it tears us up talking about it! And the fact that the judge has the RIGHT to grant something like that goes to show you have messed up our system is. He can rape a women but not be named or held accountable! That a hard pill to swallow!

    Eartha Kitt made millions by not being truthful about her father.

    Its what the term meant to her , its her experience of it, which would of course be different to others. She felt neither whites nor blacks wanted her or valued her, so , she was nothing/no colour . You cant dictate how she interpreted it really. We are all different & interpret meaning differently. Plus those were different times, regarding race & all its issues.

    She was so inspiring. I used to be obsessed with her back in the day when I was 11. She was an amazing singer and actress.

    I wonder if she remained in touch with her relatives. I found out that my father had a much younger half-sister when I was about 55 years old. He never mentioned and I don’t know if he knew she existed.

    "Yella" is a black colloquialism. Blk people made that up , especially blk men . They have always been colorist. Even on the plantation.

    Eartha was a beautiful soul, she should have been treated with more respect in this country on all sides. Eartha I wish I could have met you to show you how much you were love as a great talent, activist (who stood up for Black kids and all kids like myself) and teacher. R.I.P ❤️

  • @Ofa337
    @Ofa337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    "Yella girl" does not mean that "you have no color at all." Eartha Kitt's interpretation of this phrase has always warranted questioning. It's as if she wanted to add as much unnecessary drama to this phrase as possible, and then attach it to herself. Never understood why she felt the need to do that. Eartha Kitt has been Amazing in so many ways.

      Yella girls and boys were mixed and it’s the same as coloureds in Africa - the white fathers wanted a distinction made between black people and their children with black women. She’s right. Relax.
