The Consuming Urban Poverty project focuses on governing food systems to alleviate poverty in secondary cities in Africa. It is run by the African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town and funded by the ESRC and DFID. In this video, research coordinator Jane Battersby and research lead Gareth Haysom discuss the three-year project, its design, aims and intended outputs.

The African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town is launching the Consuming Urban Poverty project. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID), this ongoing project focuses on governing food systems to alleviate poverty in secondary cities in Africa.
