KPC Keys DIY Build-Install-Fix

I'm a remodeling contractor and I feel I have a wealth of knowledge to impart to others that may need it. My goal is to help you find a solution and that can save money since you're doing it yourself. I've found many answers to problems on TH-cam and I want to give back if I can. Many of my videos were made because I couldn't easily find one on that topic.
Replaced individual hydraulic line on EQ Systems Leveling System for Jayco Melbourne Motorhome RV
We had trouble with an RV leveling system when a bracket broke and allowed the unit to hang down, apparently eventually rubbing a weak spot in the hydraulic line that served the driver-side front leveling jack. The L-bracket holding the pump and reservoir unit snapped, allowing it to sag. We got the bracket fixed but during the process we blew out that specific hydraulic line.
I originally had thought that I could simply cut off the bad section of hose, which was really near the pump unit, and attach some type of repair to either the line itself or to just simply add on another fitting. I wasted way too much time and effort looking into that, making calls, talking to a major parts supplier, where you can order custom-made hydraulic lines. Eventually I decided to just check the manufacturer's website! I should have done that a little bit sooner. The 14-foot length that I ordered from them, I received rather quickly. I believe I paid $20 to $30 for shipping, and it was $83.69 total for it.
Here's a direct link to where you can select the length of hose you need:

Hauslane Rangehood Test, Model UC-PS18-30

I test the output of this 30" wide unit and the wattage draw. I don't measure actual discharge CFM but the wattage draw on highest speed (6 speeds) should be around 260 watts, since it has twin 130 watt motors and fans. This one only draws about 180 watts on high. A demonstration can be found where they hold party cups up to the grate and keep adding cups until the entire surface is covered. I ...
Cut and install Rockwool mineral wool batt insulation
มุมมอง 497ปีที่แล้ว
Here, I show how to cut and install Rockwool mineral wool insulation, or stone wool as it’s sometimes referred to, batt insulation. Rockwool is a name brand. Mineral wool can be found in other brand names such as Owens Corning. It’s not the best video but it gives the gist. It may be hard to tell but I am using only my tape to mark a line down the length of the batt. And yes, I’m as slow as I a...
RV shower drain fix of slow drain and gurgling sinks
มุมมอง 956ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I give suggestions how to fix an uphill-draining RV shower in a 2015 Jayco Melbourne 29D motorhome. It had back pressure from the gray water tank due to water being trapped in the line. This blocked proper venting and caused slow draining, spewing and sputtering water to be forced through the vanity and kitchen sinks because that was the easier way for the gray water tank to vent...

Set a toilet bowl, part 1 of 2
มุมมอง 128ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I will show you how I like to set a toilet bowl. I don't show the tank installation, sorry. You might be able to figure out that I had to buy a different wax ring than what was provided with the toilet that I had purchased. This may be your case as well, depending on the relationship between the height of the top of the toilet flange (this is the flat plumbing ring that is mounte...
RV Propane-Carbon Monoxide detector replacement, Atwood model 31011
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
I replace a propane-carbon monoxide detector in the RV that has reached its 7-year end-of-life, with the same model. I describe how to remove the trim ring, which is challenging without breaking it. Do not press straight down on the tabs to release the ring. Those tabs don't flex at all. The trim ring's slots that snap on those tabs is what flexes to snap on, but is a bear to remove. The detect...
Homemade DIY Portable Solar Panel Charger, Part 2 of 2

I keep on yakkin' to add some details and also explain why I chose to go this route. (see Part 1 here: th-cam.com/video/YDnJ9nKN0PI/w-d-xo.html)
Homemade DIY Portable Solar Panel Charger, Part 1 of 2
มุมมอง 48ปีที่แล้ว
Build your DIY portable solar panel charger system. I chose not to buy one of the many premade portable units for several reasons: 1. The charge controller used on those is the simpler and cheaper PWM charge controller. PWM means "pulse width modulation". While they work and are less expensive, they're not as good at making the most of the available input as the MPPT controllers, which means "m...
LG Fridge sticking Door-in-Door Fix
มุมมอง 4472 ปีที่แล้ว
In this, my first Fix-It video, I show you how to fix a sticking door-in-door latch for an LG refrigerator. I don't give the model number or anything because this may fix many different models. This fridge was purchased from Conn's in January of 2021. We started having issues with that door sticking within a couple of months I believe. I couldn't find another video out there for fixing this, be...
Thanks for honest review. Really helpful.
I didn't do a fantastic job on the video. At the time, I was simply making something I could let the manufacturer see when I was exchanging emails regarding my doubts of the CFM claim. Thanks for watching.
The 7 year life span (some say 5 years) is only after it is connected to 12v power. At least that's what I was able to research.
Does anyone know if the 7 year life expectantcy is just the total powered up time or the calendar years after the first time you power it up? My RV sits idle with the dectector not powered for more than 6 months out of the year. Does the testing button indicate whether the unit is still operable or not?
I don't know the answer to that but my manual states that you will know because the unit will chirp and not stop. I think there is a period of time where you can silence it for days at a time, but eventually you wouldn't be able to silence it. So you completely shut off the main power switch inside your camper? I used to do that too when I kept the RV in a different location because I found that the in-dash stereo, which is hooked to house power, and the propane detector both used some juice and would drain the house batteries.
Yep, this is just what I needed. Same model detector, same issue about how to get the darn thing off the wall. Same experience with the prices being all over the place, from over $150 to as low as $35. Even if the $35 unit is a year or two old it's a huge savings. Now that I know how to get the unit off the wall without breaking anything or marring the wall I'm good to go. Thanks!
Did you see below where @KylgoreTrout1 found the best way to release it? It's not the way I mention in the video.
@@KPCKeysDIYBuild-Install-Fix Yeah I did, thanks to you both.
Thanks for the explanation on how to remove the bezel!
Read the other reply above or below where it's shown a better way to remove it. Flat screwdriver in that center-top slot flexes it enough to lift it off the tabs.
The seven year life span is when the unit is in use. The manufacture date is not included in the life span.
Yes, I note in the description that it should be from power up, but don't mention that in the video. No one reads the descriptions, including me!
'Promo sm'
I don't know what that means.
Right above the word “NOT” at the top of the bracket is a slot big enough for a flat head screwdriver. You can easily “pry” the bracket off by inserting and bending down.
Yep, that ought to do it. Thanks for that tip! Everywhere I looked before, all I found was "push down on the tabs." A screwdriver in there should flex it nicely.
I found it by mistake lol. I wasn’t sure how to get the bracket off which led me to your video.
Nice info, Mike!
Nice fix, Mike. Thanks!
