WHEN IT ALL FALLS DOWN - A Cyclone Gabrielle Response Story
มุมมอง 28Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This video tells the story of how New Zealand Forest Managers(NZFM) in Turangi dealt with a 3.4M ton wind blow event in the central north island. In the video I try to cover everything from before the cyclone in Feb 2023, to the night of and right up to December 2023. WIth interviews detailing how NZFM handled the extra crews, marketing the wood, how crews logged the wood, the struggles logging...
Tigercat 180 Doing Work shot on multiple cameras
มุมมอง 4.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
T keep videos coming I thought I would share working footage of machines every now and then so people can watch machines in uninterupted action. Let me know if this is a good idea. In this video I have put together a heap of footage taken last year on 5 cameras and stitched it together to show a bunch of different angles as the Tigercat 180 works in Hawkes Bay for Bay Forest Harvesting.

2023 End of year wrap up
มุมมอง 2.1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
The plan from the first video of 2023 was to make more videos in 2023, to get better with the new gear and making videos overall, film more people and interview more people. I think I definitely accomplished that this year. I started off putting out one video every couple of weeks which for me was more than 2022 but then we got busy with work which slowed things down. Just with so much going on...

Forestry Field Days 2023 with Tigercat and Ab Equipment
มุมมอง 7K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ab Equipment asked me to do photography at their Forestry Field Days this year. One day with the Tigercat 180 Swing Yarder at Bay Forest Harvesting and one day with one of our Thomassen Logging crews with the Winch assisted skidder which we have recently been assisting from the arch. While I was there I managed to get some video footage and also spoke to videographer Jamie McKenzie from Pure Pr...
Tigercat Factory Tour and Pacific Logging Congress 2023
มุมมอง 6K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to Canada with Ab Equipment and Tigercat with 15 contractors from here in New Zealand. Itook a couple of cameras to see if I could capture as much of the logging footage as I could. It was rough footage. i wasn't concerned with making a perfect video, just getting something I could share with anyone keen to see what we saw. It was an awesome tri...
Unseen footage of an old trip before the new trip
มุมมอง 1.8K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is just some old iphone footage from a 2017 trip I went on that I thought I would share before heading off on a new trip. I have had this footage stored on a usb and very few people have seen it. Some footage was previously uploaded as my very first video I ever made back in 2017 but not all of it. The plan is to post this now and when I return from the new trip post another video then. Ho...
Our first try winching a Tigercat 625.(Short video)
มุมมอง 2.4K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is just some drone footage I shot while we tested out running a DC Equipment Falcon winch from the rear of the Tigercat 625. This is the first time we have winched a skidder. We have had all the necessary training provided and are now just testing and learning more as we go. The operator is a very capable and experienced skidder driver who is excited to see where this takes extraction for ...
A day at Maungawaru filming for Protos/Bast ing
มุมมอง 2K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Last week I went on an early morning ride to Houpoto forest with Marcel to shoot some footage for Protos NZ for their Bast ing Mechanical wedges. We met up with Dale Gilbert and Wayne Henman who showed us around and done some interviews and demonstrations of using the wedges. Following that we called into Protos NZ and met Peter Dench who also did an interview explaining the wedges to us. An aw...

Makes alot of sense 💪👍
Mean concept we run 4 4x4 MAN trucks very cheep 2 run very efficent way 2 move wood👍👍
Keeping the crew motivated, that helps to promote strong business and safety outcomes at the same time.enjoying the videos!
Very interesting video as allways 👌😎
Chur bada G.
Cool vid. Really , put the trucks size into perspective at the end when ya had the 4axle paired up2 it... good effort getting 30t on it also, thats a whole truck and trailer payload 4 most 8 axles...
Good work 😂🤙🤙🤙🤙💪💪💪💪💪
Excellent video mate. A day out with Razor would be good to see 🪵🚛😎
Great tool to boost the industry, good video ITPV.
This is super impressive! How did you get the audio to sync? did you do a clap start? Or can you connect a receiver to the remote and do a screen record? Also is the Avata a true 30 fps or is it 29.94? [Same question for the 60fps (59.94?)] Sorry for all the questions lol! 😆
Cheers mate. The audio is taken from old audio recordings and cut to match. I could have put mics on the gear but I just put the drone up randomly before I left the crew. I can’t remember the actual frame rate. Pretty sure it was 30. Think it has 30/50/60 in 4K and 120 in 1080
@@itpv_production7358 Awesome! thank you for your response!
Awesome footage mate
Did you color grade it?
A little yes.
Enjoy your videos. Good stuff, however, your music is too loud in comparison to people speaking. Especially in the taupo response to cyclone Gabrielle video.
Right amongst the production excellence on the drone footage boss.
Love your videos! Easily some of the best logging videos on TH-cam!
Cheers mate. Needa make some more haha been lacking a bit lately
@@itpv_production7358 Cheers! I completely understand. Logging and video production are both a ton of work!
Wow thank you for educating us by allowing us to be able to see real life images and hear first hand experiences. Awesome. Priceless. Thank you 🙏
Can we get a look inside the cab bro is it bigger or still small like the 552
This one is still the same as the 552. We don’t have it anymore. Cat brought it to our operator to test out for a few days.
Love your work mate.
Going to be more cyclones ,closer stronger. Needs to affect rich citys for comman people to take on board.
From Denmark, I don't watch such videos because I want to listen to music, I can do that in many other places. here I would like to hear the machines
From my channel. I don’t make videos here cause I want to make you happy. I don’t have to do that. Here I make video cause I want to.
I just found your video. Good work there. Many years ago I had a friend who had a logging truck in Taupo, always enjoyed going for a drive with him. Take care bro.
🤓 is this about Cyclone Gabrielle’s effects on a New Zealand pine plantation or forest as their is a difference in management skills ? 🤓
Absolutely Fabulous …carted my first load outta Rotoairia in 1990 and worked out of Lake Taupo and Kiko rd as well. Took that photo of the MTL MACK and LTF longs @ the Mount Wharf.
Ensures trouble free performance in all cutting conditions.
NOT A FOREST. IS A PINE PLANTATION A MONO CULTURE . EGGS AND BASKET . NOT CLEVER AT ALL .. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ? WIND , FIRE ,VOLCANIC ACTIVITY, INSECTS. ITS A FOOLS INVESTMENT .
Why is the background music in competition with comentry ,It would be good to hear what they have to say.
Turn it up
Excellent coverage of this devastating cyclone to my home country. Brought tears to my eyes to see the destruction and to hear the stories of the struggles of the Logging companies & Bushmen etc. It was hard to see. Just wish you all the best and stay safe while the fight to come back from this still continues. 💜
Wow Ivan what a great video, a real eye opener 😢
Thanks
awesome Doco Ivan. keep up the great work mate. look forward to seeing more of your footage 👍
Cheers
My wife has been working up Kiko rd getting the wind blown logs out of there working on a forwarder
Awsum just awsum man everyone involved wicked👌
Great video Ivan. Good to see the whole story, ugly, bad & the good. It shows how loggers (forestry people) work through stuff, and get in there together to get stuff done. How skilled and adaptable they are. Have to admit, had a few tears. Nice to see the Flight boys, my husbands cuzzies. Well done Ivan, Looking forward to more.
Thanks for that ,, I know most of your interviewees so it was good to see them. Not an easy task by any means ,, Watching this documentary brought back a lot of memories from my experience in The Mighty Kaingaroa Forest 1982/83 before and during Cyclone Bola ,, I was a planning field officer at KLC Kaingaroa Logging Company then so to prevent timber and logs harvested from going off and becoming sap stained, we implemented a couple of large “Sprinkler system” in the forest to preserve logs we built one set up at Ngapuketurua and another at the small village at Tauhara ,,, so I know what Forest Managers and the people and Forest owners of Rotoaira and Taupo estate and Tuwharetoa Iwi are up against ,, one of my dreams is that we will ALL be working together as one people and helping each other soon ,, nga mihi tātou katoa ,,
Interesting. We didn't get the wind at Te Karaka Gisborne
Will they ever learn from this? Doubt it 😂😂
I think they have learnt a hell of alot
What are you saying need to be learnt ? We are all ears
@td42williams77 Maybe learn how to nurture nature and she won't bite back
@itpv_production7358 I'd say they'd learn for a small period of time until big money comes in and all that had been learned will be put on the back burner until it happens again. Rinse and repeat
The trees are planted to be logged. Maybe you need to learn about sustainable forestry. Its providing alot in the area. Nature is fine. Consider it a tree farm. I won’t go on as not much more needs to be said
Very interesting video full credit to all involved 👍
Thanks
Awesome video bro, amazing work and good effort from everyone involved. very cool.
Cheers bro
absolute exceptional job on putting this together man love your work

Why does the new skidder have bald tires on front?
The contractor wanted to save the new ones and run the chains on the old ones first
