Why are they doing real life test.. It easy to carry this test out with hydraulics to way over the test limit and save the injury/ death to the machine operator.. We have carried out test to 13 million Nm with hydraulics, not a 5.minute job granted!

Those ' engineers ' ought to study Newtons' 3 laws of motion. For every action, there is an EQUAL AND OPPOSITE, RE - ACTION. SHOULD HAVE HAD THAT MUCH BALLAST, ON THE OPPOSITE side, of the ship. Floating in water, is unstable as ' water '......no matter what the ' scale ' of said operations is. We humans, learn from our mistakes/poor judgement/ discretion. WE SHOULD,,...at least. They'll never do this again.

Wow - In hindsight you would think a bit of dye penetrant or wet mag on the hook before such a test would be wise. If it was a new hook supplied under survey it is hard to believe it would not have have been subjected to a full metallurgical and crack detection program of some kind prior to use.

So much for building components to an international standard rather than like grandpa used to do it figure out what's strong enough then add 50% extra then put your name on it cause you're not ashamed of it.

Why do the test next to a ship?
