With a name like "Csonka," how could you be anything other than a fullback? The 'fins were never quite the same when LC moved on to the World Football League and then the Giants (and LC wasn't the same without Kuechenberg, Langer, Little, Evans, and Moore blocking for him).

One of the most courageous running backs ever..

I'd rather deal with the devil that try and tackle Csonka. He ran like he was pissed off at the ground and if the WFL didn't take the Dolphins stars, Shula would have won two more super bowls. That misdirection backfield was impossible to figure out.

One of my favorite RBs of all time . He never ran out of bounds. Always ran hard.

the thing about Larry is he really wanted punish his tacklers. he wanted them to be afraid of him. He had the physical talent, the mentality and the durability. Jim Kiick, who was his half-back and a very talented player, said he was suprised he ended up blocking for his full-back! the two of them were dedicated and would play 100% on the field, injuries and all. the Dolphins perfect season immortalized the team and made every player a house-hold word. they deserved it. Don Shula made the team what it was and their season of excellence ... The most eye-catching thing was watching Paul Warfield seemingly glide downfield for perfect receptions.

When he was with the Giants he was essentially ineffective. They had no offensive line. When he was with the Dolphins he benefited from a great offensive line and excellent coaching.

Larry was a beast indeed. Looked liked he was always falling down when he ran but they just seemed to be unable to tackle him! But pound for pound the biggest beast was John "going to hurt you "Riggins!

Did I see both Czonka and Little using their helmets to ram through the opponents. That's called running up and through a man . Would they be able to play that style today?

A graceful running back and an outstanding pass catcher. He never got the credit due him because he worked behind a great O-line and had Sir Francis at QB. Where AP was an outstanding running back, Foreman was gifted at running, receiving and blocking.

Emmitt smith was great and had great stats but in my book dorsett was way more talented. Never played heavier than 192 but ran under 4.4 right till retirement. Emmitt had 20 pounds on him but not nearly as fast and didn’t have his moves

The first guy to touch Csonka paid the price at the receiving end of his forearm. Defensive players used to say that Csonka was the size of a lineman. I watched him live at the Orange Bowl throughout the 70s and he was the most punishing running back of his time. Defensive backs stood little chance in bringing him down without first being dragged for five yards or more.

Earl Campbell always came to play hard every week and collect heavy debts from all defensive players. Earl Campbell was not only a ferocious beast of power, not only one of the fastest running backs, not only the most determined player on the field, but he was also an incredibly wise runner scanning all possible moves to advance with surprise, stealth, and absolute ballet mastery when Earl so desired. He would never stop until tackled by half of a defense or he makes a touchdown. Of so many fine NFL running backs, I could only see "Sweetness" Walter Payton at this epic level of brilliance of overall mastery of the offensive ground game. Bless those blockers for sure, but Earl Campbell was a game changer of NFL.
