I love watches and after owning a lot of them I decided to document my thoughts from an engineers perspective as well as a collector :)
Follow through the videos from when I first started recording my journey and chasing what I thought I wanted.
Predominantly a fan of over engineered Divers/Tool watches.

This is meant to be an educational overview of the watch and bring some well deserved attention to my favorite microbrand SeL Instruments. This is by far the best bezel in terms of grip, bezel action, zero play and the awesome bezel noise! If you've got any questions...

Nice, i have the SBDX011 🔥😉
Just bought 013 this year fantastic watch, and the OG 6159-7010 with very low mileage, 50 year's old in may 🤯 unbelievable watches it will be interesting to see what they bring out next year for the 50th 🎉
Congrats - they’re both killer watches.
Wouldn't ceramic shroud be too fragile or is the shroud titanium with ceramic coating?
It’s titanium with a ceramic coating.
Y no se le podría poner todo el armis de la nueva versión?
Fun fact. I own this exact watch now. 🤩
This puts most watches to shame tbh
You didn’t show the tide/moon/almanac screens which is a major part of the watch 🤷🏻♂️
Total bad ass watch, love Titanium Respect, Bill
Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
Why call it "square" when it isn't?
Hey there I'm on watchuseek but I can't seem to send you a message but I'm interested in your marathon bracelet if it's still available
He called this gigantic watch, a NHL hockey puck, “dressy.” Nice watch, but come on man 😂
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Oops! You forgot to film it in the dark!
Thanks for the review - I'm looking to get one and swap it for a quick adjust tegimented clasp Sinn silicon strap.
Enjoy these are rare to find nowadays.
Hi there! Do you still have this and are you still happy with it? I have one on order.
Don’t have it anymore but wish I could grab another GSG9 again down the line.
The UXs have been increasingly hard to get because the Swatch Group is not allowing non Swatch Group to use their movements. That is why (I believe) the new U50 Hydro has a Rhonda movement. Not as good!
Nice watch. Should'nt poke it with a piece of steel shaft. Some wrist time would be nice, too.
DLC coating would make this watch perfect. PVD is not good enough.
Agreed but this is a bit better than PVD due to their tegimenting process.
$45 quartz movement? No Thanks
Don’t let the cost of the movement sway you - this HAQ is one of the best movements for a tool watch or diver out there. This watch will take a beating in any way (check out SeL Instagram) and they movement and their build quality is part of it.
@@djpharoah7XL Yeah man, after 40 years collecting all manner of high end watch, I won't buy a quartz analog watch. I would buy a G-Shock though. Even Seiko makes the 9F , I think , which is a super accurate quartz. If you have ever opened, a case back on a quartz watch, it's very sad indeed. Big battery , stepping motor, integrated circuit. Basically the question is , what are you paying for with a quartz watch?, the dial and the crumby bracelet.
@misterpsych3804 sounds good - this isn’t a mainstream watch so totally get it doesn’t check your boxes.
Now that is a watch with function in mind.
The oil filled Sinn watches are just so impressive, thank you.
Different level of tech and engineering 👍🏼
The U212 is now calling my name!
There's one for sale on Watchrecon
I enjoyed your well crafted review. Subscribed !
Awesome stay tuned for more videos coming soon 🤙🏼
I turned you off because of your lip smacking and I thumbs downed also. stop it.
How do you get the watch started? Do you wind it or just move with it on your wrist?
I used to give it 5-10 winds and then wear it for the day.
So many mistakes. There are several ways to tell! Anyway-s! go check again.
Would really love your feedback and thoughts on this watch 3 years later?
Unfortunately my tastes changed and I sold it shortly that year. I went through a journey or tool watches after (on the channel) and it didn't fit my collection or what I wanted. Cool watch though and Omega movements are some of the best 🤙🏼
@@djpharoah7XL I am really considering buying this variant for a couple of months now and upgrade the bracelet with the mesh type like what you said in the video 😀
@adrianresma420 so many more bracelet options out there now from Uncle Seiko Straps and Forstner. It's a badass combo 🤙🏼
They're a bit lightweight. Need something thicker for a large diver like a seiko or a citizen
Agreed. Usually heavier or chunkier watches isofrane is better for me. 🤙🏼
Monster..
Just picked one up to add to my collection. 1st Casio for me. I love on the west coast also and had issues syncing with the atomic clock in Colorado however I found that if I place the watch on the window sill before bed and aim it towards Colorado, it consistently syncs w the atomic clock every time e.g. California and Oregon at around midnight to 1 am.
you went with the orange numerals over the white?
Thought the orange numerals made it more unique and in line with Omegas color motif.
Which movement is powering this beast? Thx 🏴☠️🇺🇸
A modified SW-200 with no date function or gearing.
What a watch!! Congrats 👍
Thanks! The SeL stuff is pretty damn good.
@@djpharoah7XL Agreed! Which movement did you/Andrew use? Thx
SeL uses the Selitta SW-200 modified for no date in this watch.
@@djpharoah7XL nice, thanks. Removing the ghost position proves the details matter, quality stuff.
@2K9s SeL is pretty awesome with those details.
As a mechanical engineer I can appreciate the mechanical sound of precision instruments.
Huge part of the appeal for me as well as an ME. 🤙🏼
@@djpharoah7XL Thanks. Great to know buddy!
This watch same sinn and fortis Design
does it include heart beats calculater??
No it doesn’t. It only has step calculator which wasn’t accurate.
I see you mentioned you like the GSG 9 version more than the standard variation. Why do you recommend that one more? Just trying to get some feedback before ordering. Thanks
Just because of the 10 o’clock crown and different dial and hand colors. The standard is usually cheaper and just as good. Get what you can swing 🤙🏼
Hey man. Thanks for the review! I just saw an SEL watch on WUS selling for $5k(doubt it will sell) and had to search this brand because I never heard of it and was mind blown of the asking price. Anyways, very interesting and unique watches.. I think if this watch came out in 2014, it would be much more acceptable(not price, just looks). In 2024 standards, that watch is downright hideous. I still watched your review. Thanks again, as i think you are the only one who has a video on these watches.
It’s a no compromise tool watch hand made in the USA. It’s not for everyone but there’s a certain appreciation you gotta have for the watch. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Green numerals???
Definitely a mistake as I was recording 🤣
@@djpharoah7XL great review. I just bought one and spot one.
Thanks for stopping by 🤙🏼
watching these reviews from this one to the newest version. the mark 1.5 the Mark II. I can really see the evolution of these series of watches and this is not a bad place to start with this. Mark, 1. I would love to have this in the collection
If you're serious shoot me an email as I am looking to sell it.
So many fans have said a MIP display, g shock square with solar = massive seller. Hopefully this gets heard.
Hasn’t been done in so many years makes me think the power efficiency of MIP might not be as much as they say
Dw-h5600-1 is mip, square and solar
Fantastic Tuna! I own the 015' been chasing a 017' for some time too. Love the enhancements you did on this (Shroud and bezel)! Hope to own one of these one day. Thanks.
Thanks for swinging by and viewing the video.
Best watch ever!!! ❤❤❤
The MK2s are definitely the best of the line up but knowing Andrew at SeL they'll always be innovating and improving!
Don't like the MK2. The 0600 crown looks terrible IMO. I heard he's no longer actively involved in watchmaking.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. The 6 o’clock crown allows it to be ambidextrous but get the size might be polarizing. Some love the smaller hidden MK1 crown which for a HAQ model was fine but a bit hard to grab/use if you’ve got larger hands/fingers.
Have you ever compared the size of this golden reissue with the standard 300m Tuna? I have the 300m and it wears well but I really want this reissue. Not sure how much larger this one will wear or is it really similar?
Great question. The 1000m is larger diameter wise and taller. I’ve had both and the 1000m wears more comfortably for my wrist. Both wear much smaller than they look. Unfortunately the online forums change everyone’s mind when they see 48mm diameter. Take the plunge 🤙🏼
@@djpharoah7XL THank you. One of these has popped up for a really good price and it will cost me an extra $400 CAD ($300 USD) over what I can sell my 300M tuna for. I think I'll go for it and take the risk without trying it on. Warranty cards are not stamped, but it's out or warranty anyways. Has some wear on the case but otherwise it's being presented in good shape. Do these take the standard 22mm shoulderless FAT springbars?
@pacmancalgary standard Seiko Fatboy spring bars. Go grab it and enjoy. You’ll be in a different league of Tuna and I’m sure you won’t look back.
I am sure the quartz movement is much better in terms of reliability, shock resistance and accuracy than the automatic. And that bracelet is absolutely perfect, I wish Seiko can produce this in the next 25 years or so.
The HAQ is killer as it’ll take everything and still keep 10spy or less. Bracelet is epic and genuinely the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. Unfortunately Seiko/GS bracelet continue to leave me uninspired to get any of them now. Doubt they’ll improve to this same level as the SeL. Wish everyone could try one to see but for now these videos will have to do.
Such a great watch. Thank you for the thorough review and keep them coming!
Thanks for watching and commenting. Appreciate it 👍🏼
Solar should be absolute standard on all G Shocks these days, multi band 6 too but I can let that go (especially if it’s Bluetooth time sync) but solar is a must have.
Word - huge benefit of not having to worry with Solar..
His website has been down for what seems like at least two months. Curious. Thanks for vid, PMc
Appreciate the view and your comment. Go directly to them via email. Not sure what’s up with the site - maybe a refresh 🤷 Email => info@selinstrument.com
Must be a pretty big diver. I don’t dive so no need for it. I’d far rather get something more elegant
It’s an awesome diver and honestly it’s not for everyone. Very small group of people who will love it - it’s very unique and there’s nothing out there like it 🤙🏼
A beast on the wrist! 😊
Most definitely. It’s been a while since I’ve worn it as I’ve been focusing on the MK2s
I appreciate your watch reviews. Please do a state of the collection video. Thank you sir.
I’ve got a whole bunch to record and post but yes eventually part of the plan. Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
Yes!!!
